Modifying Hollow Body Poppin Frogs
I recently purchased some Hollow Body Popping Frogs.I have one Booyah Pad Crasher and one SPRO. I'm specifically wondering about trimming the legs on these. Since they are POPPING frogs, is trimming the legs for walking purposes even necessary? Can a "Walk the Dog" retrieve even possible on POPPING frogs?

Walking The Dog While Sitting Down In A 'yak Or Canoe
I'm really interested in learning the Walk the Dog retrieve with Frogs and Spooks, and was wondering how to employ this retrieve while sitting down. Is it possible? Or is a person in a yak or canoe limited to just twitching a frog in a straight retrieve?

Best Bass Attractant?
Megastrike here too.I've heard Megastrike is non staining. Tell that to the shorts I wear on the boat which I wipe my fingers on after applying Megastrike to baits. Its not Heavy staining, but there is a mildly darker area where I wipe my fingers. And if you rub that area you can still smell a faint hint of the scent. This and I just pulled these shorts out of the laundry this morning. My wife gives me funny looks when I rub my pant leg and then smell my fingers...Its a Megastrike thing...she wouldn't understand. This weekend we were in a sporting goods store and I was sampling the scents and attractants. She wanted to have some fun too. She found a jar of Smelly Jelly Bass Feast (pink)...so she thought the color would match the scent...think maybe she had Cotton Candy or Tutti Fruity in mind? Shetook a big ol whiff of that stuff...she turned all sorts of shades of green...me...I love that smell.

Chlorine And Bass Lures?
Crankbaits/spinner baits are reaction baits. Fish don't have time to analyze and sniff em out. They just either wack em or they just let em swim by. Soft plastics and jigs can be either Reaction baits (hit on the fall) or not. With these its kind of a toss up.

Ambassadeur 6000 Spindle/axle Part Number
The axle can be seperated from the spool on my 6000. My 6000 has the bait clicker switch on it.

Upgrading Hooks
I'd like to add a dressed treble to the back of this bait...any idea what size hook I might need...or can someone suggest a hook size based on the size comparison to the Quarter?

Ambassadeur 6000 Spindle/axle Part Number
Been messing with my Ambassadeur 6000 trying to figure out why it binds while cranking. I looked into almost every component and have discovered the shaft going through the spool is bent a little bit. I'd like to source a replacement spindle/axle (whatever its called). I've found replacements for the 5500 series Ambassadeurs but not sure if they are the same. So...what is the correct name/nomenclature for this shaft and does anyone know a good part number?

Abu Garcia Ambassadeur Royal Power Plus 3.8:1
Picked this up on Ebay. Its got Gold sides and a black spool, and a Fast Cast Thumbar. Under the reel seat it reads 88-1 88-89. Gear Ratio is 3.8:1 Seller described this as a great deep crankbait reel. Anyone use this model before for cranking and how did it perform? What model is this reel based on if I need to get parts...are parts and service still available for this reel? I know its supposed to be for deep cranking, but what about just general cranking(0-6ft) is this reel suitable for that too?

Anyone Do Business With This Company?
- Hmmm...here's A Thought.... (Carolina Rig)
Well dang...here I thought I was being innovative...but I'm betting not many Bass in the lake I fish have seen something like that...most everyone throws traditional Cranks, Spinnerbaits and T Rigged worms. I'm itchin to try it out...weather permitting Tuesday will be the test.- Pegging With A Rubberband
I've heard of it but didn't understand how it worked...this has probably been posted but for those that don't know. ..video shows how to peg your sliding sinker with a rubberband.Skirt material is substituted for the rubber band, but the line pulling it through had a tendency to cut it.- Hmmm...here's A Thought.... (Carolina Rig)
Here's what I have rigged up as of right now.The "peg" isn't traditional, but its what I have to work with...wait...duh...why didn't I use the rubberband method? Anyhow I've got that bead and pegging it is a uni knot made with braid around the leader with 8 or 10 wraps. The whole thing seems bulky but compact (if that makes sense) The only issue I see is maybe on the cast (pendulum effect)...I plan on fishing a traditional C-Rig with a traditional bait to determine if that bite is on, then ill throw this to see how they like it.- Aoy Points
In the B.A.S.S. Elite series...how are AOY points awarded. Is it per tourney how much an angler moves up the ladder towards 1st place or is it by weight of fish or some kind of consistency calculation. I ask because as I follow the AOY standings, the standings are constantly changing as the tourney progresses...- Hmmm...here's A Thought.... (Carolina Rig)
So I've been on a C-rig kick since I caught 2 fish on it a couple of weeks ago. I've been studying and researching...just going through some of my tackle and came across an idea. How about running a pegged Punch Skirt on the leader in front of a craw or creature bait...would make for some sort of weightless looking jig...might slow the fall of the bait and on the pause the skirt would undulate and flare...fish it with short drags and let the skirts action entice the fish... I know ill never find out if it works until I try it...has anyone else tried anything similar with success?- Quick Service From T.w.
Shipping cost wasn't too much an issue for me. Think I paid like $6 and change...for UPS and USPS wouldve been like $7 and change. Heck USPS flat rate small already runs $5.80...so its all relative...I really can't complain.- Quick Service From T.w.
Made an order for some Mojo Carolina Slider weights from Tackle Warehouse. Ordered on the 1st and got them today...the 3rd...via UPS.Normally UPS takes up to and over a week in some cases...it was even cheaper to ship than USPS. I'm pretty impressed as this was my first order from them. First impressions are everything, if they are consistent in pricing and shipping, ill gladly be a return customer.- C Rig Is P*ssing Me Off
So I went back out today and threw the C-Rig again. Again I got the normal tap...tap...tap tap tap...then the rod loaded up and whatever it was started to swim away...I waited for the drop but it never came...it was nerve wracking...figured anytime was good to sweep the rod...I did and just hauled water...I gave whatever it was every opportunity to eat my offering...time and plenty of line...but still came up empty. Just learned the lake was stocked on the 29th of April with 1500# of Channel cats...wonder if that's what's pestering me.Its either that, Trout or Bluegill/Green Sunfish/Redear as thats all that's in this lake other than LMB- C Rig Is P*ssing Me Off
Nope the nearest Dicks or BPS is a good 3 hr drive. The closest real tackle store nearest to me is Sportsmans Warehouse an hour away. The only place locally is WalMart or Big 5 sporting goods...neither of them carry any kind of rattles, not even the ones for the bands used on jigs.Lucky for me I gotta take my mom to the Phoenix airport at the end of the month...I always visit the BPS as its maybe a 10 minute drive from the Airport.Ill have to make a list of needed items when I travel up there.- Where Have The Fish Gone?
About 3 weeks ago I was catching my limit on crankbaits. Took all day, but I was catching em. Forward to yestetday, couldn't buy a bite. The C-rig I was using kept getting pecked, but no takers. I'm thinking its Bluegill. The water in the lake is dropping about 6 inches to a foot a week...someone told me the fish were on the beds...I know its about that time...not ALL the Bass should be on the beds though. There are some Bass that are too young to reproduce...I'm sure they aren't bedding. Skies have been sunny, air temps are in the high 80's low 90's and theres a constant breeze/wind that keeps shifting.. I've thrown to the windy banks...nothing. I've tried a C-Rig, Dropshot(got a few pecks ), and a DT-6 crankbait.Should I try a deeper crank in deeper water. What might have turned the bite off? Could the dropping water have anything to do with it? What about the Bluebird skies...I'm scratching my head trying to figure this out What should I focus on to find the fish?- C Rig Is P*ssing Me Off
The beads I'm using are plastic...they came in the kit.- C Rig Is P*ssing Me Off
Might have to invest in some worm rattles to put in the bait, read somewhere tat will keep em off the sinker.I have some nice Mad Man Lizards that have a slot between the rear legs for a rattle, suppose you could inject some fish attractant too. Problem I have is noone locally sells worm rattles...not even wally world. So I gotta go online or visit a tackle shop an hour away when I'm up in that area.- C Rig Is P*ssing Me Off
I thought about it too...something picked up something on my setup and started off with.Bluegill couldn't possibly get that huge weight in thier mouth.I got lots of pecks throughout the day.One occasion the rod loaded up, I gave it plenty of time, waited counted to 5, swung and nothing. Also on another occasion, had the tail bitten clean off, just like a Bluegill will do on a curiousity bite.- C Rig Is P*ssing Me Off
Not sure what size my Brass weight is...it came in a kit with a few different size Brass weights, swivels, beads and hooks. I'm using the largest size (I'm guessing 1 oz) its got a pointed nose too and its still getting pecked to death.Even had a fish move off with it. I set the hook...nothing...as soon as it settled back down the fishe was beating it up again.Wonder if maybe the Bluegill are on the beds and I'm going over them with my C rig.I know they get crazy aggressive during thier spawn.- Carolina Rig Setups
If you prefer the traditional 3 knot set up (one knot at each end of the swivel and one knot at the hook) and just like many, you prefer using a Palomar knot exclusively please be advised that to properly tie the C-rig in this manner, with these knots you MUST tie your leader to your swivel BEFORE tying on the mainline to the swivel. This is ONLY if you want to use all PALOMAR knots. Trust me on this...if you tie your mainline to your swivel first, then tie a Palomar knot with your leader to your swivel...its not gonna happen. Try it...you'll understand.Jist a little tip I learned along the way.Hope this helps. Oh and be mindful of "sinker strikes" where the fish clobbers your sinker repeatedly.Had one yesterday smack at it over and over, pecking at it, and e entually it pickrd it up and made a run, went to set the hook, NOTHING"...as soon as the sinker settled...the fish hammered it again a couple of times...can get really annoying...this was my first atempt at using a Brass sinker...I'm going to do like was suggested in another post...I'm gonna try a Carolina Slider from Mojo Weights.- Nice Trailer Alternative To Rage Tail Or Speed Craw
I've purchased some of those craws on Ebay from several different sellers. The claws have excellent action similar to a YUM Craw Papi or a Netbait Paca Craw. The claws flap like crazy. While not exactly a Rage Craw, the action I believe is comparable. - Hmmm...here's A Thought.... (Carolina Rig)
