Trying To Id A Worm Made By Manns
Got some worms made by MANNS.The tail is "tabbed" to the body to maintain its shape the same way a Rage Anaconda is. The tail itself has a "hammered" finish to it. I know its NOT a Jelly worm or an Augertail. Anyone have a pic of a Dragin worm or Mannipulator worm I can use as reference? Can't think of what else it could be.

Where Did The Term "plug"originate
I've always heard people in the Bass Fishing community refer to Crankbaits and other hardbaits as "plugs" Where did this teminology originate? Can anyone give examples of other baits having "pet" names. Example: "Jig and Pig"= Jig and Pork (nowadays its plastic) trailer

Field And Stream Brand Rods At Dicks Sporting Goods
When I first saw these rods at Dicks, first thing that came to mind was "Generic." I took a look at them and was actually impressed at how they looked and felt. Price on one of 7'0" casting models was like $29.That's decent in my book if it performs as well as it looks and feels. I've done some looking online and Wiki Answers says these rods are built by Shimano...can anyone confirm or deny this?

Does This Look A Little Overkill?
Picked up a Snagproof Kickin Frog and wanted to turn it into something a little similar to a Bobbys Perfect Buzz. Got a twin bladed buzz setup from an Optimum Baits Ambitious Buzz Swimbait and hung the Frog off the back. Did I go a little overboard on this or does it look like "money".I'm afraid the twin buzz blades might spook the fish.

Looks Like I Kinda Got Over On Walmart
I always watch the clearance section in the sporting goods section at Wal Mart. Starts in like February, certain items go on clearance, every week the price drops. When I feel its rock bottom I pounce...buy clearance stuff at a serious reduction in price. This year has been different. Things went on clearance but prices haven't dropped. 2 weeks ago I went to the clearance section and it was empty. I panicked, thinking I missed out on a serious price drop on all those items. Then I noticed some shopping carts with a bunch of stuff in them...it was all the clearance items and they had been marked down like crazy. I picked up a ton of hooks, Mustad Weighted Swimbait hooks, Gammy splitshot/ dropshot hooks and Some Owner hooks. Eacjh pack was marked $1.00. I scooped up every pack I could find. There were some Manns A-rigs with the swimbaits in seperate packages marked at $5.00...I passed on those. So I went back yesterday and noticed the Clearance section was stuffed full with the items that i saw in the shopping cart the other day. Prices on the A Rigs and the Swimbaits went from $5 back up to $10. An associate told me that the Dept Manager got in trouble for trying to blow all those clearance items out at a deep discount. Guess I picked those packages of hooks up at the right time...

Guess I'm A Bass Pro Shops Snob
Went to BPS earlier this week, its located about 3 hrs away from where I live, so anytime I'm in the area...I just gotta visit. After I left BPS I was on my way home on the Interstate and noticed a Dicks Sporting Goods. I've never been to one and knowing a big name like Shaw Grigsby is sponsored by them, I had to check it out. Went in with big expectations...boy I was disappointed...this location had a fishing section with 3 aisles...nothing spectacular...I wasn't impressed, large section of Matzuo and Apex brand baits. Guess that make me a BPS Snob...Anyone else disappointed wit h the selection of tackle Dicks has?

Any Experiences With The Rebel Pop N Frog?
I've seen these online and the concept is cool in my opinion. I went to BPS recently and was somewhat surprised at the size...they're pretty small.Regardless I purchased 2. Anyone fished these? How do they compare to a Pop-R as far as noise is concerned? Do these create a "bloop" as well or better than a Pop-R?

Venting About Memorial Day Sale

Cotton Cordell Lipless Crank
regardless of your satisfaction or dissatisfaction with those companies customer service, it sounds like its all your own fault for leaving them out in the sun and exposed to the heat... How is a person to know at what conditions/temps thier hardbaits will be affected. Like I said I have lots of different hardbaits and the CC Spots and SK RES and a Series 4 bait were the onls ones affected, strange but other SK cranks werent affected.and they were all under the exact same conditions, in Plano boxes on the floor of my Jon Boat. So my lesson from this is that CC Spots and SK RES baits are sensitive to the heat and care must be taken when storing them. For those reasons they don't have a place on my boat anymore.

Making A Tackle Room...organization Tips Wanted
I was discussing the whole thing with my wife and made mention I need to get some furring strips to start with...she suggested I go out and get some pallets. Around here some places have them for free. Might be a little work to disassemble them, but you can't beat free. The strips can be crude, as they are just gonna be a way to set the pegboard off the existing wall a little bit.So that's where I'm gonna start...collecting pallets...anything left over can be used for a bonfire...

Simple Tip For Repairing Jig/spinner Skirt Collars
I use green floral wire and a pair of safety wire pliers. The pliers get the wire twisted in a nice tight uniform fashion...the tighter the wrap, the more the skirt will flare. Havent had it happen, but if you go too tight on the wraps with the wire pliers, the wire could cut into the skirt. I leave long enough tag material so i usually twist until the wire twist I'm making breaks on its own. I then go in with a pair of small dykes and trim the twist down and bend it over. Tried using the wire pliers on some thin strands of speaker wire, but the copper wire was just not strong enough. I always reinforce my skirts with the green wire as soon as the skirted bait comes out of the package. If the rubber collar breaks over time, it doesnt even cross my mind

Cotton Cordell Lipless Crank
My experience with the Cotton Cordells has been less than remarkable. I kept them in a Plano box in my Jon boat. One day I went to check them out and discovered they got all bloated and deformed by the sun.Had some SK Red Eye Shads do the same and had a series 4 start splitting along the back. No other brands of Crankbaits had any kind of similar issues. Ive got plenty of Norman,Rapala, Bomber and other misc cranks riding on my boat.I Contacted both SK and Cotton Cordell about this issue.. SK asked me to email them pics...I did and they ended up sending me replacements, with a hat and a catalog, no questions asked and delivery was quick. Cotton Cordell wanted me to send the baits to them on my dime. I did and got a call, saying that upon inspection, they would replace the baits...2 hours later, got a call saying they WERENT gonna replace them. The fact that they went back on thier word really got me.They asked if they should return them or just throw em away...I requested they return them to me so I could keep the trebles and split rings. They sent me some decals with my baits. As far as fishing them...I couldn't tell ya...never had a chance to use my brand new spots...Really feel I can't buy the Spots because if I spend the money on them, don't use them and store them on the boat, they can potentially get ruined in storage...all I'm left with then is some trebles, split rings and a useless crank body. For what its worth...Bill Lewis Rattle Traps have not suffered the same heat related issue as the SK and CC baits. Just my experience.

Learned A Tip For Fishing In The Wind.
Thought I would share. Was taking fishing with a BPS employee today, and I mentioned I used to enjoy throwing weightless stickbaits, but its tough on the water I fish because of the constant wind. Cast out, get a big wind blown belly in your line and your bait won't sink, it will just stay under the surface and drift. His solution was to throw the bait with a sidearm cast, low trajectory, and when it hits the water, sweep the rod tip down quickly to get that line down on the water. Anyone heard of this, anyone use this technique?

Hook Size For Giant Worms...
For the 12" I went with a VMC 6/0 Heavy Duty Wide Gap...hope its large enough...I'm guessing it should be...its the size Paul Elias used when he caught the record weight on Falcon using the 12"Jelly Worm on a C-Rig...I think ill be alright.

Pork Rind Trailers And Applications For Each
So for a lot of us, when we think pork trailers, we might picture a traditional frog "chunk" on the back of a jig. There are other shapes and that is what I have a question about. I've got some older jars I picked up at a yard sale. One jar has some meaty blue 5 inch strips with a flat curl tail at the end Another jar has a black 5 inch meaty strip that goes to a taper which resembles a straight tail worm,I'm guessing these ate supposed to be leeches? Another jar has some flat, non meaty circular shaped pieces known as a "Ripple Rind" when pulled straight, they twist like a ribbon. I've always though pork trailers were for jigs...are these trailers I describe above also for standard jigs or do they have a specific application other than jigs? I'm thinking the black straight tapered ones might be good on a dropshot The blue worm shaped ones could be used as a C rig bait... Typically is pork like this buoyant? Any seasoned Bass angler care to chimevin with tips about fishing with pork ?

Making A Tackle Room...organization Tips Wanted
So now that 3 of the 4 stepkids have moved out, I have a room I'm turning into my tackle room. The plan is to run furring strips (1×2) on the studs from where the wall meets the ceiling down to where the wall meets the floor. Then I want to run pegboard over the existing wall, with the furring strips allowing a space so I can insert pegs into the pegboard. Now this is where the decision making comes in. I've got a ***** ton of soft plastics...all sorts of brands, all types...lizards, flukes, finesse worms, swimbaits, ribbon tail worms, creatures...you name it... Some brands I only have one bag of,some i have multiple bags of products ..so what's the best way to organize these. Do I do it by brand...do I do it by category...by color?? I know its entirely up to me but this is my first time setting up something up like this...what works for everyone? I'm leaning towards category...all the bags of bait I only have 1 bag of a brand in lets say, ribbon tail worms will go on one peg, while baits i have multiple bags of,say for example, 7 bags of Berkley Ribbon tails, will get thier own peg.Colors arent gonna matter, styles will...clear as mud?

Weighted Swimbait Hooks, chatterbait And Swim Senkos
I've had a small assortment of swim Senkos for awhile now and just never had any real urge to try em out. I came into a bunch of 2/0 and 4/0 Mustad (adjustable) weighted swimbait hooks recently. How well would these hooks compliment a swim Senko or is it best to fish it weightless. What about a swim Senko on the back of a Chatterbait or other vibrating swimming jig...anyone tried it?

Big Hammer Swimbaits
I've heard stories of anglers slaying Tropy Largemouth with these. What is it that makes them so appealing to the fish? I see a normal, generic shaped swimbait body with a normal, generic lead swimbait head... I don't get it...if they are that effective...is there really a need for Hudds and other uber realistic swimbaits? Wonder if fished side by side how well a Big Hammer would do competing against a Hudd...

Pork Trailer Shelf Life
Picked up a vintage taclebox recently and inside was a few jars of pork trailers. This stuff is old...the lids have flaking paint and there are no labels. The brine solution is still there though. Having trouble getting the bottles open to see just what kind of trailers I have. Do pork trailers and the brine solution they sit in have a shelf life? Is there any reason why, if the stuff is still soft and pliable, that it wouldn't work. Could the brine solution go bad and become a deterrent to fish?

Revisiting Crankbait Id
I asked about this crankbait a few years ago but for the life of me i can't remember the model. I believe it was made by Luhr Jensen. Can anyone correctly ID these?
