  1. Anyone ever heard of this lure? Can anyone shed light on this lure? They are Triangular in shape, jointed have a rattle chamber inside and about 4 inches in length. They appear to be a crank bait of some sort. No lip or bill though. Could these possibly be shallow diving lures? Can anyone shed light on this lure?
  2. I have a 4 HP Chrysler Outboard. I dont know when the last time was that it was run. I just want to pose a hypothetical question and see if my theory is correct. Said engine uses a 50:1 mix. But I also want to put in some Pennzoil marine fuel additive. How would that work into my mix? Say I use a 1 gallon fuel can and put the proper fuel/oil mix to make it 50:1,then I put in the Fuel Additive per the bottle instructions, would that throw my 50:1 ratio out of whack, and change my ratio? Or how would that work. Does the additive even play a part in the mix calculation?
  3. Ok I made a little error. The jig itself is actually an 1/8 ounce. Wonder if that would make a difference? I also have the same jigs in a black and blue color. Of the 2 colors which one is more likey to produce with that trailer?
  4. I have some 1/4 oz bucktail hair jigs and decided to experiment with them. Nothing new to anyone ,but new to me since I havent ever used them. The jigs are brown and orange and have a brown/rose colored head. I found some baits I would like to use for a dropshot rig and decided to put one of the baits on the jig as a trailer. The trailer is made by Angler Technologies/ Anglers Choice Custom Baits out of Henderson Nevada. The bait is called a Baby Split Tail Beaver 2.5 inch color 707 Golden shiner. Looks good to me. What do you all think?
  5. I thought the same thing and thats why I posted the question. Im new to the whole boating thing and my 10 footer is already wishy washy with just me in it.
  6. I noticed last night that the wood in the seats on my 10ft Jon Boat is dry rotted. Im opting to go to WalMart and buy some of the plastic seats to install. I noticed walmart sells a 7" pedestal for mounting the seats. Would this be a good thing to do with my 10 footer? Or will it throw off the center of gravity and make the boat that much more unstable? I sit pretty low now as is(see pic) ,what could potentially occur if I were to raise the seats up on a pedestal?
  7. Floridabassboy, You have a PM
  8. Are Culprit Spinnerbaits any good? Big 5 sporting goods here has em in different weights and colors for $1.99 Each. Seems like a pretty good deal, wouldnt you say? All of Big 5's other fishing tackle seems overpriced though.
  9. Im always telling my kids about things..You know lessons for life. Basically,If you wouldnt like it done to you...You dont do it to others. I wonder how those crooks would feel if I went to wherever they lived and stole some of thier belongings. Im sure they would be p*ssed as well. People just dont care or respect people these days,They never think about what if the shoe was on the other foot.
  10. I took my boat out yesterday and gave each kid(5 of them) a ride in it. My Girlfriend snapped some pictures. Upon seein the pictures,it appears im a wee bit big for this boat. I like it dont get me wrong but I guess I never realized just how small this boat was until I saw the pictures.
  11. My Jon Boat is Aluminum .Its a 1969 Sears model. I have a 1979 4hp Chrysler Outboard and will use it once I can figure out the operation of it.
  12. Was cruising around the lake yesterday and found I spot I wanted to fish. After about 20 minutes decided to move. The boat wouldnt go anywhere and the trolling motor sounded like it was straining, thought the battery was just out of juice. Then it dawned on me....DUH... PULLING UP THE ANCHOR WOULD HELP!!!! Geez I felt foolish!!! Lesson Learned!!!
  13. I took my 10ft Jon Boat out yesterday for the first time. Had a blast,One problem though. I was cruising shallow and got into some weeds. What do you at a time like that? I have a 30 Motorguide TM. I eventually got out but was paniced because I was stuck for a minute. Eventually the weeds fell off. Can weeds ruin the TM? I thought it might because of the additional strain it puts on the motor. I suppose it can wear your battery down too...Right?
  14. I have a 1979 4 hp Chrysler outboard. I would really like to take it out on the lake but have no idea on how to operate it. I bought a repair manual on ebay,I had someone scan and email me a owners manual, yet none of these talks anything about how to operate this motor. I suppose I could hook it up to my boat and just "go for it" but I suppose that could be dangerous. Where can I find out how to operate this thing? The repair manual tells how to adjust things and such but nothing else.
  15. I was getting my boat ready to take to the lake for its maiden voyage. I got in my truck and noticed something was amiss. Then it dawned on me. Someone had gotten in my truck and rummaged around during the night(my mistake I left the window open). Well I lost about $700 worth of CDs. I thought that was it,then I look in the back of my truck. All my rods and reels are still there as well as the 3 tackle boxes I own. What is missing is my Green Camo Army rucksack that had all my soft Plastics in it. In one way its aggravating, but in another way I guess the bait monkey could have taken it because I havent purchased soft platics in a long time,Guess its time to resupply!!
  16. Im using the settings as recommended by others(10 amp/deep cycle mode) on my trolling motor battery but the needle on the charger guage keeps jumping from the middle,to the fully charged mark, and the fully charged light keeps flashing on and off as it does this, what could this indicate?
  17. So what setting should I put it on? It has a switch for conventional low maintenance or maintenance free deep cycle. then it has the 50,10,2 amp setting. Where should my settings be?
  18. Well I suppose its a "Universal" Charger for me,at least. Im an old car buff as well and well its always nice to have a charger for when you need it for them old cars that havent been started in a while. So other than the whole trolling motor thing,I suppose it will serve its purpose.. It beats those trips to Autozone all the time to charge a battery, yea they do it for free but those trips into town arent free as far as gas is concerned.
  19. I went to Sears today and purchased a Battery Charger on sale. It was a closeout item and I just happened to have a Gift card in my wallet with a balance of $21 on it. Total out of Pocket expense was $24.52. Im jazzed about it but what I need to know is if this charger will work for a trolling motor battery application. Specifications are as follows: 50 AMP Engine Start 10 AMP Fast Charge 2 Amp Slow Charge Its fully automatic and it states on the box that its for Cars,Marine,RV,Farm Equipment,Motorcycle,Lawn Tractor and Deep Cycle Batteries. This should work...right? What setting do I use for the TM Battery?
  20. At present I do not have a battery Charger, and I want to take my boat out on its maiden voyage. The Battery does have some juice,im just not sure how much. Would it be a wise decision to take the battery to Autozone for charging for this maiden voyage, seeings how I dont have a charger and they charge batteries for free?
  21. I am refinishing my 10ft Jon boat. Its gonna be Olive drab on the exterior and I havent decided what I wanna do on the inside. I was curious as to what would be better? Painting the registration info on with a stencil kit and spray paint(flat khaki for contrast),or just go out and buy the decals and stick em on.How have you all taken care of this in the past?
  22. Decided to make a name change. Decided against being NON ORIGINAL. My new name is taken from the fact that even though im retired I will always be what I was in the Army, and thats a Paratrooper(hence the name Airborne). Im an angler so that fits, gee I feel better now that I thought of something original.
  23. You can say im not too original. Theres a website called FISHINAZ.COM. Im not affiliated with them in anyway. I was in kind of a rush to reply to a post while "lurking" and I remembered the websites name. After all I do go fishing in Arizona so it all fits. Sorry for the non originality.
  24. I am currently in the process of stripping and repainting my 10 foot Jon Boat. My plans call for painting the sides Olive Drab Green and leaving the bottom of the boat its original aluminum finish. Im gonna be hauling it in the back of my truck and I dont see the point in painting the bottom of the boat if its gonna get scratched up anyway when I put it in and pull it out of the back of my truck. Does my logic make sense or does the paint on the bottom of the boat actually make for better fishing? I figure if im fishing deep (30-40 ft) then the fish wont much care for whats at the surface. And if the theyre not spooked by a 10 foot object floating over them, why would they care what color that 10 ft object has on the bottom.
  25. About what kind of distance should I expect to get out of pitching? I tried a little at a local park and feel real comfortable doing it,and I seem to be getting it out there a good ways, but is distance a factor when pitching?
