  1. Another one for the pool thermometer.
  2. The Energies are discontinued? I just saw the 2012 Quantum product guide and the Energy is listed. What am I missing? As for my input on what you should get Jim3h, out of the reels you have listed I have only used the Energies and would recommend them to anyone. Great reels IMO.
  3. Great pics Kevin! Keep them coming! Glad to hear everyone is still getting out! I made it out friday morning for a brief outing hitting the one spot on black hills that's close to the apartment. It was more of a testing period for the reel I had was given to me for my birthday (for my jerkbait rod). To my surprise, I managed a dink on a Smithwick Rogue. Not sure when my next trip will be but I'd love to hit the canal at PEPCO soon (this weekend is looking like a bust though). Sorry to hear about the trolling motor incident Peter but glad to hear it's fixable. You got the important part right (time with your daughter, that pic of her is awesome)! My daughter asks to go out with me from time to time and we have a pretty good time even if we don't catch a thing.
  4. Nice! Glad you guys managed to get some action! Really wish I could have stayed to wet some line with you guys but I'm glad I was able to make it over to say "hey".
  5. Seems to me I showed you that I can too a while back or did you forget about that evening? Don't you still have the pic you took of me holding that one? :D :D
  6. I'm closer! Not to the boat ramp but at least one section of it. LOL
  7. I popped over to check out the lake this morning before rolling in to work. Looks like the lake is back up a foot or two after it finally made it back to "normal pool" just the other day. The water color wasn't bad but the section I checked out is back away from any of the creeks that come in to the lake. I bet the backwash area is chocolate milk after the pounding we took last evening. I'd expect the stick ups area will get that color soon, if its not already, and that's a shame cause that's a fun area to fish IMO. Good luck with the fishing sunday but most important, have fun getting to meet each other!
  8. Brian, Here's the last list that I had posted. BrianinMD (boat) KenLattimore dcfpipeman (boat Munkin (boat) Slaynbass365 Fat Boy (+1) WV (and son) Lee.MD - Hellbenderman (boat) As Brian mentioned, please reply to confirm you're still going to attend. Thanks!
  9. You scare me off? Nah, not at all Brian! You're shiny "new" Ranger does. Trust me, I wish I could make it but it's just not in the cards for me for this one.
  10. I wish I could add much to this but for some reason, once october hits, I struggle hooking up myself. With that said, I did squeeze in a lunch time outing on friday. I managed one largemouth on a strike king buzzbait, turned out to be 20 1/4" and weighed 4lbs 1oz.
  11. Sorry I haven't posted much lately, between work and my daughter, time hasn't left much time for me. As I mentioned before. I won't be able to make it this weekend. Rather than keep pushing it out just for one person, I say everyone keeps the date. Sounds to me that there should be enough boats for everyone to fish off the bank. I will say, shore fishing could be slow but there's still the potential for some decent bass from shore. I made it out for a lunch time outing on friday and managed to get a 4lb 1oz treat on a buzzbait. As for time, wv requested a mid-morning meet up. How does 9 sound to everyone that can make it? Do a meet up at the boat ramp and everyone can pair up with boaters and head out for some fishing. Let me know if you want to snag an empty pavilion to do a cookout. I'll give the park manager the heads up. If you are doing a cookout, let's post a list of who's bringing what, that way everyone isn't bringing hotdogs. LOL! We'll do another get together in the spring, I'll definitely be in for that one!
  12. wv, my understanding was the date was being changed to the 16th. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to make it on that date now. If everyone still wants to get together on that date, I'll still contact the park manager to give him the heads up the get together is going on as well as getting permission to park the boats in the parking lot in the park (when using the pavilion. I can still post the directions to get the park and where to meet up in the park as well. I apologize for the short notice for me backing out.
  13. Here's the current head count, boat status and a guess on what county everyone is from. Obviously, please correct me if I'm wrong! basser89 (boat) - Washington county BrianinMD - Montgomery county KenLattimore - Montgomery county dcfpipeman (boat) - Frederick county Munkin (boat) - Washington county Slaynbass365 - Montgomery county Fat Boy (+1) - Frederick county WV (and son) - Jefferson county (WV) Lee.MD - Howard county Hellbenderman (boat) - Montgomery county So IF my initial guess is correct, to reserve a pavilion, we're way short on Montgomery and PG county residents. This doesn't mean that we can't still do the get together and use a pavilion that is not reserved. I would probably still need to check in with the park manager on towing the boats into the parking lots for the pavilions just to let him know. As mentioned before, Hellbenderman can't do the 2nd, so I still need everyone's feedback on when to hold the event.
  14. Chris, I believe you're slackin with the everyday posts!
  15. Ok, finally some success on getting to the visitor's center to get the information on the pavilion. So here's what I found out: There's 2 size pavilions at Black Hills (large and small). The small ones hold a maximum of 40 people (which at current count what we'd get). There is a $125 non-refundable deposit plus a $150 refundable deposit as well. $275 would be due at the time the reservation is made. There are 6 picnic tables and 1 grill at the small pavilions. Other information: The maximum capacity counts are enforced so we can only can only reserve a pavilion for that amount or we'd have to upgrade to the larger one which is more expensive. Once the reservation is made, the fee is non-refundable. It is rain or shine. A $48 fee is required for all reservation changes (at least 1 week in advance). No alcohol of any kind is permitted at the park shelter. Large amounts of garbage must be taken completely out of the park for proper disposal. All cars must park in the designated parking spaces (no parking in the grass). Charcoal fires only, no gas grills and no personal grills. Gas grills, wood burning fires and generators are prohibited. Two thirds of the participants must be from Montgomery or Prince George's counties (will look into this more if we decide to do this). I was also given the name of the park manager (who's an avid fisherman as well) to see about parking the boats in the parking lot at the pavilion once we're done fishing. With the current count at 12, money needed per person would be $22.92 to rent the pavilion. $12.50 per person would be refunded as long as we met the criteria for the refund. Looks like I covered all the info I received. Let me know what everyone thinks.
  16. I popped today at lunch to find the visitor's center is only open from 12-5 on the weekends. I'm planning on heading over there this weekend to get all the info. I can definitely post directions. The goal would be to have enough boats for everyone to be able off the shore. Thanks for the heads up Chris. So the head count I have right now is 12. 5 with boats and 7 without. With Hellbenderman not able to make it on the 2nd, that drops the count, for that day to 11 and down a boat too. So the question is, do we keep the same date (where the majority would definitely fall in the non-boater section) or move it to mid-october to help even out the numbers so everyone can has the opportunity to fish out of a boat? Or do move it to spring time? As I mentioned before, this get together is open to anyone. If you're interested in joining us, please let us know!
  17. Like I said, I've never seen it that high there. I used to make that run daily to go to tech school. I've seen a bunch of pics and videos on FB from friends along the Susquehanna. Its unreal. The underpass (where the train bridge crosses over 322) looked like a canal instead of a highway in another pic I had seen. I hope our Statue of Liberty is ok! And yep, I did see another pic where that strip club at Clarks Ferry is definitely flooded. LOL! I also heard the Juniata hit 19' at Newport. How bad is it up in Lewistown?
  18. Hmmmm, my pic didn't seem to take. I'll have to try again later.
  19. Got an email of an aerial view of how bad the Susquehanna river is right now. This picture is taken at Clarks Ferry. I used to travel this way to tech school back in the day. I can honestly say I've never seen it this bad!
  20. Well looky there...... Hey Stranger! Glad to see you back on the boards! Float trip? I'm thinking everything will be floating by then. LOL!
  21. Priceless pic MskSlyr! Good to see the young one is taking after his Old Man!
  22. Sorry for the delay in posting! Things were a little crazy at work and was on vacation too so I hadn't been able to check. I'm going to make it over to talk to someone either today or tomorrow so I'll post the information I get ASAP!

Felt it here at work in Germantown, MD. Didn't seem to last that long, guessing MAYBE 15-20 seconds. Was real comforting looking over at the ceiling watching the air system shake! Glad I wasn't under it!
  24. From what I've heard, reserving a pavilion is on the expensive side at black hills. I did some checking on line and see there are several that are open (5 actually), but there was no pricing information that I found (doing a quick search). If we want to do a cookout after hitting the water (which is something we did with the PA get together I was involved in a few years back), we could go grab one of the non-reserved ones (which would be a cheaper route). I'll see if I can pop in to the visitors center soon to see what the rates are, if that's an option we want to explore.
