  1. Got word today that Hellbenderman is interested in the get together as well. Hopefully, he can pop on to confirm. If you are able to confirm, let us know if you'll be bringing a boat and if you have any available seats.
  2. Check on your DNR fisheries website. I know Maryland has a citation program, that I participate in as well and I am catch and release as well. A picture of the length and girth is required as well as specifics on where and when you caught it, name and address. If fishing with a buddy, include their name and contact information as well. Hope this helps and good luck!
  3. Ok, I checked things out and the next free weekend I have would be the first weekend in October (the 2nd is a sunday which sounds like that would work best from what I'm seeing). I wish I could do an earlier date than that but I have my daughter every other weekend. The next open date for me would be the 16th. Does either of these dates work for everyone? If so, I'm in and will have my boat and a open spot as well.
  4. There is a ramp fee (was like $5 the last time I put in there). There's a little mailbox type station set up with envelopes and a card. The cards and envelopes are numbered. Keep the card with you and put the money in the envelope and put it in the slot and you're good to go for the day.
  5. Hey Peter, I'm assuming you'll have your boat? If so, looks like that would be boat #2 so far. Looks like September 18th is fitting most people's schedule. Unfortunately, that weekend as a whole won't work for me (have a family commitment I can't break). If that works for the majority, then I say let's keep that date. Anyone else interested, please feel free to add to the thread! Everyone is more than welcome!
  6. Hey David, keep posting those monsters! Congrats! I was able to get out fishing for a couple hours saturday morning, hit Black Hills again. With not much time, I decided to hit the backwash area for some froggin action. About mid-way through my outing, managed a dink on a spinnerbait. On my very last cast of the outing, I managed a 4lb 1oz surprise on a Spro Bronze Eye.
  7. Welcome to THE boards slaynbass365!
  8. Mega Strike!
  9. I did start a get together thread, haven't seen a whole bunch of responses yet. Anyone interested in the get together that hasn't posted on the thread or needs to update with any information, please do! Good luck with the tourney this weekend Brian! Let us know how ya do!
  10. I feel the exact same way. The day I caught my current PB, I was throwing a lizard loaded with Mega Strike. I felt her suck it in and spit it right back up. Not two seconds later, she picked it back up and felt her crush down on it to kill it, that's when I crossed her eyes!
  11. Got to take an extended lunch today and met up with Ken to do a little fishing at Black Hills. We both got blanked while we were there but definitely had a good time. Thanks again for the invite Ken! Will have to do it again sometime!
  12. Hey 301, How did you make out night fishing? Wish I could've made it out but it just wasn't in the cards.
  13. I prefer dark colored baits mostly. Black frogs, toads, buzzbaits, jitterbugs, spinnerbaits (usually a single colorado blade) and big worms.
  14. The pic I just put up is the only pic I have right now, I lost my last spinnerbait earlier in the year. I've looked for skirt manufacturers before but came up empty on the exact color I would like. The best description I can come up with for it is a reddish, orangish, bubblegum kind of color. IF I can touch base with my brother, I can try to get him to send me a pic of the one Red Shad that he has left.
  15. Only picture I have right now is one I pulled off the internet (its the upper RIGHT one).
  16. I've thought about that but wasn't able to find the exact color I need to do that. One of our members shot me a PM, he makes skirts and is sending me some so looks like I'll be back in business! I have checked through Dozer's and he doesn't even have the color I'm looking for. They're one of the first places I checked out when I did a google search. Thanks for all the suggestions! Really appreciate it!
  17. So with Picasso going under, I've lost the ability to buy my favorite spinnerbait color. This was Picasso's Red Shad. I've done a Google search but have come up empty. My brother was talking with one guy but the guy he was talking to stopped responding to him so the search goes on. Can anyone recommend a company that could reproduce this color? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
  18. There's a review over in the rods and reels section.
  19. I'd say the closest I've come to having a "famous" fishing partner was the time I saw Tracy Bryd in concert close to my home town. Got to get his autograph before the concert and asked him if he wanted to wet some line after the concert. He thought about it for a second before he declined. LOL!
  20. For those who haven't followed the MD Who's who thread closely, there was interest of doing a get together for the MD anglers. So I figured I'd start another thread to keep track of any interest on doing a get together, where and when. I was given a suggestion for doing this in September (won't even attempt to have it Labor Day weekend) and holding it at Black Hills. Obviously, I'm open to suggestions on dates and locations and we'll try to accommodate the majority of the anglers. So let's start with seeing who's interested. Please post if you are interested, what date(s) would work from you, whether you have a boat and any input on a location to hold the get together.
  21. Well, the green light turned to yellow then red last evening so didn't get out then. Popped over to Black Hills at lunch time today at the tubes. Brought the flippin stick with me and some Sweet Beavers. I managed 2 in the hour I was there. The first one was a pretty cool scenario. I had made a cast out and was in the process of working it back in. Not even a quarter of the way in I catch some movement out of the corner of my eye, sure enough, I had 2 cruisers coming towards me right along the weed line. I hurried up and swam the Beaver closer, once I figured out where the bass were going, I swam it a little closer and killed it. Tick...... and the line starts to move! Caught the smaller of the two but it was still about a pound and a half. I love catching cruisers! With a few minutes left before I had to head back, I switched tubes and made a cast out to the one hole I know of out from the shore. The bait never made it to the bottom, set the hook and knew right away I had a better fish on. Nothing too impressive, just a 2 and a half pounder but she put up a great fight! That made her picture worthy! LOL!
  22. I'll second the cool pic and story! To add to wv's comments, at the current levels, I don't believe it's possible to make it up to Snyder's from Shepardstown. There's a shallow ledge down below Snyder's that runs all the way across. You MIGHT be able to navigate it with the trolling motor (its been a while since I've been down that far). And down below Shepardstown, it does get rather shallow again. I used to go wading for smallies down below the RR bridge and there are several sets of riffles/rock ledges down there that are probably too low to pass over too. Looks like I have the green light to get out this evening. Will probably hit Black Hills somewhere, not sure where yet though. If anyone else is heading out this evening, let me know, maybe we can meet up! Oh, and I figured I'd give it a week on this thread to see if anyone else would be up for a get together. I know BrianinMD is in NY still but I've given him a heads up on it. He's up for it too if it doesn't conflict with his tourney schedule. I'll start another thread for the get together after the week is up on here.
  23. While they don't get to the depths of the DD22, the Extreme crank is one of my favorite deeper water cranks. And while I can't walk a Sammy to save my life, I can walk the Slim Dog. I had a few of their first gen jerkbaits that have produced well for me in the past too.
  24. Wow! Thanks for the kind words wv! Much appreciated! I have helped set a get together up several years back for PA and made some good friends that way. Let's start here and see if there's any interest on doing a get together.
  25. In my opinion, you only need 2-3 colors when it comes to top water since the majority of the time, the bass are only seeing the belly of the bait. I've limited my frog/toads (Spro Bronze Eye and Strike King Rage Tail Toads are my go to's) to white and black (thinking about adding a yellow or chart to round it out). In a pinch, I've used mono in the one lake I fish that gets loaded with hydrilla and have had no issues. Around pads and such, I'll switch up and throw braid.
