2009 Quantum Tour Edition PT preview...
They sure do look good and I'm sure they'll perform as well, if not better than, the '08's! Bravo indeed! Thanks for the heads up Natural!

Spinnerbait help?
I work them over grass and around timber mostly. Its a great bait for me in clear water. I like a 3/8 or 1/2oz BPS Enticer series with a translucent colored skirt (can't remember the color number) with double silver willlowleaf blades. I prefer to throw all my spinnerbaits (1/8oz up to 1oz) on a 7' MH baitcasting setup with a 5.1:1 gear ratio reel spooled with 17# test flurocarbon.

You pike guys might have a convert!
I'll have to check out the pic this evening (stupid firewall). I can't ever remember catching a pike before but I've done a dance or 2 with muskies. That's my "hobby" fishing! ;D

Favorite Spinnerbait?
I have 3 that I prefer right now (one of which is no longer in production). Picasso, Strike King (Premire Plus) and XCiter (the company went under). The blade combination I use most is a double willowleaf on all three.

I got 200$ to BPS..Help!
You know, I ALMOST said that myself. ;D

4" tubes too big for smallies
All I use are 4" tubes (BPS Magnum flippin tubes and Mizmo Boy tubes) for smallies. Matter a fact, I've had smallies hit some of the top water baits I use for musky (the largest being a Bucher Top Raider).

I got 200$ to BPS..Help!
Smallies on the Potomac? Never heard of that! ;D Jerkbaits, crankbaits and tubes! Specifically, Rattlin Rogues, Bandit cranks and either BPS Magnum flippin tubes or Mizmo Big Boy tubes (I think the Baltimore store carries Mizmo). Congrats on graduating!!!!!

Great weekend of fishing
Way to go OLD TIMER! ;D Got an email from Jake yesterday letting me know how you guys did. Get pic by the way (in the email jake sent me)! Congrats on the new PB (jake didn't tell me that). I had a feeling you two were going to win that one. Good deal on the river trip too! Congrats again to both of you! Keep it up!!!

Just got my 1st Baitcaster
Bingo Mike! Practice, practice, practice and practice. When you're done practicing, practice some more. Even if you're not able to get on the water, set up some targets in the backyard and practice casting to them. (beware of the neighborhood comments like "are you catching anything" or "I thought you needed water to do that"). Accuracy will come, it just takes practice!

Has anyone tried the Quantum Tour Edition PT?
I have two of the Energies and absolutely LOVE them! My fishing partner has several of the Tours and feels the same way about them! He's let me try it out once, and WOW! I almost wish I hadn't bought my latest Energy back in the spring so I could have bought a Tour at the sale price! Great reel at an outstanding price! IMO

Spinner Bait trailer hooks
I also rig the trailer hooks pointing up all the time. I have KVD's video, Advanced Spinnerbait Tactics, and he says in the video that when you're fishing open water you can reverse the trailer hook. I usually fish spinnerbaits around laydowns, stumps and thicker grass, hence, the trailer hook pointing up.

Black Hills (Little Seneca lake) night fishing
Hey Munkin, I'm in the same boat! LOL! I've been fishing at Black Hills for several years now (even before the started the night fishing deal). I've said it over and over I was going to fish them and never have until last night.

UNI Wha
The Palomar is all I ever tie when I'm bass fishing. From what I have read, the Jansik Special is supposed to have the highest knot strength though (I usually only ever use this knot when I'm musky fishing). I've never had a problem with this knot either, just takes a little longer to tie.

Yum Money Minnow?
I stopped into Dick's at lunch today, needed to pick up a couple cranks and jerkbaits. Anyway, while looking around I saw these in the isle with the rest of the swimbaits. They looked pretty good (at least color wise), I was just wondering if anyone has tried them yet. Are they worth picking up or should I just admire them from a distance. LOL!

Black Hills (Little Seneca lake) night fishing
Ya missed one Wayne! There's one July 16th as well. More than likely, I'll have the boat down for the one in July.

Black Hills (Little Seneca lake) night fishing
All ya need to do is Google map Black Hill regional park.

buzzbait hookup problems
Are you possibly setting the hook on the sight or sound instead of when you feel the bass? The reason I ask is I just went through the same thing the other evening. It took me one fish to realize what I did wrong and corrected it on the next 3. The trailer hook couldn't hurt your odds. Pulling some weeds off is a minor deal (IMHO) if it means a few more bass!

Bad traffic = good fishing!!
Hey Boett, The bass I caught on that outing were in 3-4' around submerged timber and stumps. The visitor's center sells maps. They're not the greatest but they can help some (I believe the depth intervals are 10' if memory serves me right).

Black Hills (Little Seneca lake) night fishing
Yep! Brian is right on! 6 to sunset. The majority of the lakes that I fish in MD are like that. It really stinks because I grew up fishing all night with Dad during the summer. To the best of my knowledge, there's only one lake that I fish that you can stay on all night and then there's the river which I really don't like to do. I don't need to bust up a prop! Anyway, just got home a little while ago. I hit two different areas this evening. I managed 3 on a spinnerbait in the first area and then 4 on a jitterbug on the last spot. Had a been completely prepared (with my headlamp included) I would have stayed longer. I'll be ready for the next one! I'll post the remaining dates as soon as I get them for those that are interested.

Pull her outta the grass
Late last summer, I was fishing a lake that has a TON of hydrilla. I was fishing from shore at the time and saw a decent sized hole about 15-20 yards out. I threw a wacky rigged Senko into the hole with my spinning rod spooler with 8# test Sensation. I felt a "tick" and set the hook. She did the same thing you described, came up and showed herself to me a dove straight into the grass. I couldn't move her either so I eased up on her to where I could barely feel her. She ended up backing up out the grass and the fight was on again. She did that two more times before I landed her. That one was 4 1/2lbs. That's what worked for me, hope that helps!

Black Hills (Little Seneca lake) night fishing
Sorry for the short notice! I just found out as I was heading out for lunch that tonight, Little Seneca lake is having late night fishing. Just wondering if anyone might be heading out? Wish I would have found out sooner! I would have brought my boat to work! Looks like it will be some shoreline fishing for me.

Bad traffic = good fishing!!
Is it the one I am thinking of or did you pick up some different ones? Did I say swimbait????? : Um, yeah, ah, I think it was a 'er a spinnerbait! Yeah, that's the ticket! LOL! Yep, it's the one you're thinkin of

Bad traffic = good fishing!!
Thanks! I'd been in a slump until my Father's day outing with my Dad. Guess he helped me get back in my groove a little! Hey MskSlyr, no time for a hair cut! There's BASS to be caught! ;D ;D ;D rondef, if you have never fished Black Hills, you should give it a shot some time! That lake has some hogs! Earlier in the year I lost what would have easily been a new PB for me but thanks to a mental error (forgot to check my line) I broke her off on the hookset. I only saw her when she "tried" to jump to throw the swimbait I was throwing. Guessing she was in the 7-8 pound class.

Very Cool! Congrats to the young man!!!!!

How often do you use a spinnerbait trailer?
Trailers, only in muddy water. Trailer hooks, ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!
