  1. Welcome to the boards pafishslayer! I fish some of the waters you have mentioned as well. I was actually at Cowans Gap over the weekend (faired so so there). It's been about a year since I actually had a chance to fish MG (Meadow Grounds) but I'm hoping to change that soon! There's a tournament there in September I'm hoping to make! There are a couple of other guys on here that fish the same areas as well. Hopefully, they'll chime in too! Again, welcome!
  2. Thanks packman! The rod holder I currently have is set up like that and works well for me. I mentioned the hook method to Dad but his vision of the rod holder he wants to make me is with the clips (he's a master carpenter by trade). He tried ordering clips where he works but they didn't have what he wanted.
  3. RATS!!!! Thanks for letting me know! Anyone else???
  4. Unsupervised? I'd be against it! Too many things could go wrong! I took mine when I was 11 (b-day is in september) so when hunting season rolled around, I was ready....... ready to head out hunting with Dad. PA's law (at least was) was the youth hunter had to stay with the adult. If memory serves me right, as the youth's age rose, you were aloud to be X amount of distance (think it was 100yds) from the adult. At 16, you could hunt on your own. I was like fluke, my Dad started me out young taking me out in the woods, I shot bow and played around with my bb gun too. When the time came to take the test, most of it was already second hand knowledge to me.
  5. KVD and David Walker here. I haven't met KVD yet but I just love his style of fishing. I met David Walker a couple years back at a seminar and he spent about 15-20 minutes just one on one with me answering questions I had. Really great guy, IMO!
  6. Hey Daniel My Brother, Do you have any clips that secure the upper part of the rod too? My Dad, is in the process of making me a round rod holder but ran into a snag. He can't find any clips to secure the rod. Anyone have any input on where we can find these? Thanks!
  7. There's a spot I fish at lunchtime that's close to work that is really thick with hydrilla this time of year. I usually only use one rod this time of year at that spot, my flippin stick! I always peg the weight right up against the red bead that is right against the hook to get the tubes down through the grass so it doesn't get caught up while the weight sits on the bottom where the bass are.
  8. I'd definitely follow Catt's advice then!
  9. The only time I use red hooks on plastics is with Senko style baits (either wacky rigging or t-rigging them). From what I have found, when I've scuffed the red off the hooks (from catchin bass ) the bite dies off. I'll switch the hook out for a fresh one and I'll start catching again. I've tried them I've tried them with worms, creature baits and tubes and if anything I believe my action decreases. :-? I definitely do better with hooks with a black nickel finish with them.
  10. I've done that on a couple of occasions but the one I'll remember most was on a private pond I was fishing with one of my friends. There were some GOOD bass in there (close to double digits). I was fishing the edge of some cattails when I caught some movement back inside the tails. I pitched a tube in the area and twitched the bait once. WHAM! The "beast" absolutely crushed the tube. Well, I reeled down and crossed its eyes! I could see its eyes were crossed as that 10" bass went flyin over my head and landed about 15' behind me! My buddy and I couldn't stop laughin about it! Matter a fact, that story comes up from time to time even now. ;D
  11. As far as brands go, I mostly fish Gamakatsu. You'll want to get a little more specific as far as what hooks you want recommendations on for fishing different baits.
  12. As far as I can remember, that was the first time moby and I fished together by ourselves (Dad was on his boat with one of the grandkids). Fishing was pretty slow on saturday, but we definitely had a good time! Hey little bro! Don't forget to email me the pics!
  13. I have an older Quantum crankbait baitcaster (can't remember the model off the top of my head but its pre-Accurist era) that I still use. 1 Quantum Profile that's mainly a back up reel now if I need to take one out of the line up for maintenance. I own several Accurists (I've only had problems with one of the first gen Accurist PT's I have). I also have an Energy 640PT, an Energy Burner (E770PT) and an Energy E750PT. I have two Quantum Kinetic spinning reels as well. No complaints here.

  15. I finally broke down and picked up an XRAP at the beginning of the summer. I have never had much luck with Rapala's but I figured I'd give them a chance. I've only used it on the upper Potomac but the smallies really seem to like it! It has a great erractic action which I love to use for smallies! I'll be picking up a few more for sure!
  16. Welcome to the boards! While I've had a few offers to fish Rose Valley, I haven't had to chance to fish there yet. :-[ Sorry! Hopefully, someone a little closer can help you out! Good luck and let us know how you do!
  17. Congrats Marshmaster!
  18. It's been some time since I've had to order from BPS (I'm a little spoiled having two stores within 1 1/2 hours of where I live). It's been so long since I've ordered anything from them, I don't even get the catalogs. :'(
  19. I know the Wal Mart has one, I think Renegade makes it, that's somewhere are $12.
  20. Here's the one I have on the front of my boat: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_52527____SearchResults
  21. I'm not a c-rig fan but you may want to start at the top of the tackle page in the sticky section. Here's the link: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1120348381 Hope this helps!
  22. 4-29-08? No wonder you didn't mention anything to me about it when I talked to you last! LOL! Bout time you get your pics downloaded! LOL! Sorry, can see the pic here at work due to the firewall. I don't beleive all species will get worms, but I know the bluegills and rock bass 'n such will.
  23. Thanks for your service! And welcome to the boards!
  24. Nice job brother! My guess would be he put it back. The water gets pretty warm in the summer and there's a good chance most of them have worms. :-/
