  1. Liked the movie, but I just can't get into either show. No thanks
  2. I was throwing the Mann's Waker (chrome/blue back) a little bit today at lunch. I had a bass blow up on it but I was a little trigger happy. > Guess I need to treat it more like a top water bait on the hook set. Lesson learned the hard way I guess. The wind running 13-18MPH and there was a decent chop on the water. I know Fourbizz was saying on the other wake bait thread, that's a good time to throw it. Glad I read that thread! ;D It was killing me not throwing something else though! (That's a joke for SPEEDBEAD)! Hee hee hee
  3. Sleep (like 8 to 10 hours a night) Eat more Drink plenty of OJ and/or take vitamin C tablets Fresh air (I like LBH's tip!) A trick I use for sore throats is drinking extremely hot (I'm talkin McD's lawsuit hot) tea. It's scald any germ that might be lurking and will loosen up any flem that's back there too! Obviously, you're not going to be able to drink it right down, but take sips as big as you can. This works for me Hope this helps Purple drawers Jimzee??? TMI! LOL!

  7. That's a very cool idea with the fishing trip and memorial! I'll be keep you and his family in my prayers too! btw, PM sent!!! "Big Bro"
  8. I can testify to that!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D And try throwing them at night when you can't even see the bait or a wake to know there's a follow!
  9. Strike King King Kong and Top Raider. Top Raider? You mean the Top Raider from Joe Bucher???? Yes. It's a funky looking thing. I don't know if the vertical flap at the back is for action or to prevent a big fish from getting the hook deep in its gullet. Ok, just making sure we're talking about the same lure. I consider the Top Raider to be a prop bait. That "vertical flap" on the back turns and sounds something like a mutant jitterbug on steriods coming through the water. The musky in my signature below was caught on a Top Raider.
  10. Interesting. I've used the rope version many times fishing from shore. I haven't saved them all but I have saved the majority of the ones that I've had hung up. Which model are/were you using Avalonjohn?
  11. Strike King King Kong and Top Raider. Top Raider? You mean the Top Raider from Joe Bucher???? Thats what I was thinking when I read this. You fishing for toothies? I know a bass will hit these baits, but they are actually a musky bait. I've actually caught smallies on the Top Raider (obviously musky too). The biggest was only 18" though. I've never thrown them for largemouth. Have you had largemouth hit them SPEED?

    OUCH!
  14. Stamina Inc has a very good selection too! It's the only place I'll buy my Gamakatsu EWG hooks!
  15. Bass-Brat is right on with the lure retriever! Won't get the job done every time but will the majority of the time. Another thing that I do when fishing around wood is as soon as I come in contact with the cover, I'll stop it (just like kybasser91 said) but after that initial stop, I go into a pull-pause retrieve. For me, it's easier for me to use the rod at that point to feel what the bait is doing and if you do get hung up, you're not digging the hooks into the wood. Also keeps the bait in the strike zone a little longer too. Hope this helps!
  16. I used to only use a lure retriever that you attach to a rope. It works great as long as you're not in any current (it can be used but it take alot longer usually). My Dad made one out of a golfball retriever that works great. The only limitation with that one is the length of the pole. Carrying one of each type would be ideal, IMO.
  17. I've been fishing a small community pond for the past 2-3 years now. Last year, they sprayed the pond once early in the year. Fishing was tough for about two weeks but after that, I faired pretty well the rest of the year. This year, they have upped the amount of treatments on the pond (somewhere around once every 4-6 weeks) and fishing has been extremely tough this year! Last year, I'd put a pattern together rather quick and be able to manage several double digit (numbers not weight) days in a 2-3 hour outing. Sadly, this year, I consider it moral victory if I catch 5. So it seems to shut the bass down when they treat the pond I fish.
  18. Nice work there Slyr!
  19. I'm still scratchin my head on how Michigan pulled that one out! :-? And I'm a Michigan fan! LOL

  21. I've been stuck on a really simple recipe for fish for a while now. Place a fillet (I usually use walleye) on a piece of aluminum foil, add McCormick's Lemon and Herb seasoning. Add a generous amount of butter around the fillet and fold up the sides to create a "bag". I'll throw the bags in a cake pan (to catch any butter that may run out) and broil it. Half way through, I'll pull the bags out and flip the fillets and add more seasoning.
  22. Solid white or solid black (depending on the light conditions). Rarely, I'll throw a chartruese one.
  23. From time to time, I fish for musky from shore. In order to get a quick estimate on a musky, I've marked my one rod with different intervals using duck tape. Quick easy method for me.
  24. Palomar knot here too. The only knot that I know of that has a higher knot strength is the Jansik Special. Take a little longer for me to tie this one so I use the Palomar about 99% of the time.
