  1. And the other one............
  2. Now that would have been something to see! I'm not all that serious about it either. Mostly only play now when I visit with my friend. Here's one of the pics.....
  3. I was visiting one of my friends over the weekend and one of the things we like to do is throw darts. We usually play cricket, although I don't know why. 9 times out of 10 we're battling for the bullseye to win the game. Anyway, I had a first happen, actually it happened twice! I've seen my Dad, a very accomplished archer, telescope his arrow on a couple of occasions. Well, I telescoped darts saturday evening/sunday morning! Pics are in my camera, once I get them downloaded. Has anyone else ever done this or seen someone do it?
  4. Impressive outing! Congrats! You should try fishing when the air temps are in the teens! ;D
  5. FINALLY broke the $2.00 barrier this weekend around my place! $1.97!!!
  6. Hey Mark, First off, you've got mail! It's not much, but I hope it helps! Secondly, I've fished Long Pine too (only once so far). I've heard of some very nice fish coming out of there too. The biggest I've landed was a 3 pounder but had another one on that I never got to see. Can't guess on the weight of it but it was considerably heavier than the big one I did land. I know of one club that fishes there as well. From what I was told that lake stays gin clear a good bit of the time. The day I was there, I was able to make out individual grass stocks (not sure what type of grass is in there, had never seen that type before) on the bottom in about 15' easily! My cousin won his club tournament this year there with somewhere around a 20 pound bag. Hope this helps too!
  7. I first started using a 5/0 Gamakatsu Deep Throat Wide Gap hook with my swimbaits and I'd add a split shot to the hook. I caught a few bass with this set up but found the split shot would works its way loose and would throw the swimming action off a bit. I've switched up to Reaction Strike weighted hooks now in the 6/0 size. Like FishCat said, these are much easier to rig and they swim straighter too!

7 here. Spend about 98% of my forum time here though!
  9. For some reason, I think we talked about that lake before and IF we did, I think I know what you're talking about. But that'll be for an off line discussion! ;D
  10. Hey Wayne, MG is just slightly further for me than Cowan's gap too. After talking to Ian (moby) earlier this year, I'd definitely like to hit there sometime in the spring during the prespawn! Still trying to figure out why I hadn't hit there more this year?????? Is the other lake you're talking about the one there in Fannetsburg? If it is, I've fished there once with one of my cousins. I managed a couple dinks, he caught a rather large snapper! Guess who volunteered to get the crankbait out of its mouth. :-?
  11. I was an electronic technician in the repair department for the telecommunications company I work for, moved into a supervisor roll but currently, my title is service planner. In a nut shell, I am a project manager that ensures that when engineering releases new product the service centers around the world have the ability to repair the units.
  12. Hey Mark, Touch base with my brother, mobydick. He's actually fished it a lot more than I have. I think he has a better understanding of the lake than I do. He was actually with me when I caught the one I posted. Sorry little brother! I didn't have any of your pics to post!
  13. I order the Picasso's directly from them. picassooutdoors.com
  14. Nope, never heard of it! : Dad's fished it a little too! ;D btw, how's Walker lake coming?
  15. I think I figured out the spinnerbait I was thinking of. It was a spinnerbait that Zorro made with the clear blade. From what I've read, it looks like the company is out of business. I wonder if anyone sells clear blades so you could modify other SB's?
  16. Yep,but war eagle has a killer clear water skirt called "mouse" I saw that skirt and it does look good! Do you know if they have/had a spinnerbait with a clear blade? I've checked the brands that I know of but I just can't for the life of me remember who makes the one with the clear blade (I believe it's a single colorado blade).
  17. Brian, This isn't the one I was thinking of, but here's one that I've found so far. http://www.strikezonelure.com/ghost-blade.htm For some reason, War Eagle keeps popping in my head as the one I've seen but I haven't found anything on them yet as far as the cllear blade. I'll keep you posted.
  18. My Top 3 that I would suggest are Strike King, Picasso and RattleHead spinnerbaits. Hey Brian, While I don't have one like you have mentioned, I have seen one exactly like this. Let me do a little looking around and I'll see if I can figure who makes it.
  19. Most of my hard jerkbait fishing is done on the river for smallies. Due to the walleye and musky, I've been using 20# Suffix Performance braid (on spinning tackle) with no problems. I do have a baitcasting set up that I used (rarely) for largemouths. That's spooled with 14# Suffix Seige.
  20. Still have a weird range of prices here in MD around me. Around my place, it's ranging from $2.37-$2.49, around work, $2.32-$2.39 and half way between work and home I've found it as low as $2.19.
  21. I used to have this as my wall paper.
  22. My only encounter with Craig's list was for an outboard. It was dirt cheap so I figured something was wrong with (which was no big deal). But when I asked what was wrong with it, I didn't get a response, I asked again, nothing, on the third attempt I said I would like to take a look at the motor BUT I needed to know what was wrong with it so I knew roughly what I was looking into money wise for the repair. My response, "nothing a repair shop can't fix". With that I decided to look elsewhere.
  23. Still holding around $2.45-$2.55 around my house. Down where I work, the price was $2.32. I work around 25 miles or so from DC and typically the gas prices usually run at least $0.10 higher then near home (40 miles away). Go figure. :-?
  24. Fishing wise, the only snakes I've encountered (that I know of) are water snakes, black snakes and garder snakes. Animal wise, as I was walking down to the river one time, I came across a set of EXTREMELY fresh bear tracks! Judging by the size of the tracks, I'd guess the bear was somewhere around 300+ lbs. Needless to say, I didn't stick around long enough to find out! On the hunting side, I've come across a handful of copperheads (going as far as stepping on one, still not sure how I didn't get bit on that one) and a yellow timber rattler. While I didn't know they were there, my one cousin and I walked through a den of rattlers. The only reason I found out about those was the fact that my Dad had followed our trail. When he stopped for a minute, they let him know they were there! The not so fun hunting story was another bear. While turkey hunting one year, Dad and I came across a bear sitting on the side of the road rolling rocks over looking for food. We were in camo from head to toe so it never saw us. It came as close as about 20 yards before Dad took his headnet off to scare it off. That's just not the most comforting feeling when you're standing there holding a 12ga single shot shotgun!
