  1. Hey All, I might be picking up a used outboard this coming weekend. The person that has it was using it for duck hunting and put a camo paint job on it. If I do decide to get the motor, can anyone tell me how I could remove the camo paint? Thanks in advance!
  2. I've caught a few in the past couple of weeks on a 1/2oz jig and a 5" swimbait. Surface temps were in the mid to upper 40's. Tubes and trick worms and Senkos would be my other options. I agree with RW on being a little early for the spinnerbait bite. My experience has been once the temps hit 50, it's time to have a spinnerbait tied on always!
  3. Thanks Killa! LOVE their Hartbeaters! Haven't tried their tubes yet.
  4. I throw the Brush Hogs. Just about always T-rigged but the weight I use depends on the situation. One of my favorite mid to late summer techniques is putting a 1oz bullet weight on and crawling it on the bottom in the thickest grass I can find. Great bait for flippin too!
  5. I googled them and couldn't find a site. Can you share their website with us? Thanks
  6. To add to MALTESE FALCON, KVD's first video (Proven Spinnerbait Techniques) is well worth the price as well. For me, when the water temps hit 50 and up, I will ALWAYS have a spinnerbait tied on at least one rod!!!!!
  7. Yeah, definitely sounds like a big pike or musky. The area I fish on the Potomac has musky in it! When I'm fishing for smallies, I use braid. I've had muskies (and my partner MskSlyr has too) hit small bass crankbaits. We have both had luck landing them using braid (MskSlry has also landed a couple on mono). When I'm fishing for musky, I use a HEAVY fluro or mono leader. I have yet to loose a bait while using this set up. I agree also that if you're not outfitted properly, a big pike or musky will absolutely trash most bass gear (unfortunately, MskSlyr can attest to that as well).
  8. Thanks flippin4it! I was using the off-shore series, 5 inch, in the shall sard color (have to credit SPEEDBEAD for pointing them out to me!). My success with them so far has been a yo-yo type retrieve. The 3 hits that I've had on them so far have all been on the fall (this evenings was the intial fall but the other two were on the end of a long sweep).
  9. I got to hit a local lake after work this evening. Conditions haven't been real favorable for me lately, I've only managed a bass here and there, but this evening was better. I only was able to get out for just over an hour but managed 4 bass this evening. 3 came on a spinnerbait (biggest one went 2 1/2lbs) and one on a Bass Pro Shops swimbait (she was just shy of 4lbs at 19 3/4"). The spinnerbait bite was pretty aggressive and the swimbait bite hit in the initial fall. Here's a pic of the swimbait bass.
  10. Palomar vote here too!
  11. Thanks for the heads up Burley! It figures, there was another company that made this one color I have a lot of luck with and they stopped making them as well. Man, when things go bad for me, they go BAD! I might have to see about making the skirt color myself.
  12. Is this monday? It feels like it! Anyway, I wanted to see about getting a custom spinnerbait made up with Heavy Cover but I don't have their website bookmarked at work. I've tried Googling and Yahooing and I can't seemto bring find it. Can any one help me? Please! Thanks in advance!
  13. I've been using 14 and 17# Maxx. it has too much memory for me (the Maxx that is) for soft plastic applications that I use. Sensation has less memory and is easier to stay in contact with the bait. Thanks, the bass were all released. The musky, I wasn't able to CPR so she came home to be eaten.
  14. Check out the specs on each one. Sorry, I don't know any thing about the Shimano reels. Strictly Quantum for me.
  15. Hey daviscw, I prefer a longer rod but yes either one will work well on a 6' rod.
  16. Like 5BL, I've gone through stages as well. When it first came out I was ok with it, then they "improved" it and I was sold on it! When Transition came out, I thought I'd give it a try, IMPO, Transition SUCKS (VERY VERY VERY brittle)! I tried switching back to Vanish and found it to be just a brittle as the Transition is now. I''m a Berkley fan but I won't use another Berkley Fluro. BPS XPS series fluro is my favorite.
  17. For moving baits, I like Maxx. The bass in my avatar wrapped me around 3 stumps/branches/laydowns (let's just say wood LOL!) while I was shore fishing before I landed her. Thumbs up on the abrasion resistance! I agree with the others about the memory! For soft plastics 'n such, sensation would be my choice.
  18. Another Quantum fan here. I steer clear of "store brand name" reels. If it's not on Quantum's site, I won't use it. Less hassle the reel serviced or getting parts (if needed and that has been very rare for me personally). Accurists and Energy's are what make up my baitcasting arsenal.
  19. X infinity + 1! ;D Be safe! Have fun!
  20. Awesome product!!!!! I've been using it since the Pittsburgh classic and LOVE IT!
  21. IMO, the Bionic Blade is one of the best rods in their price range! I'm looking to pick one up this year to fill a void in my arsenal!
  22. I've been keeping a journal for the last 4 years. I've modified the one here on BR (slightly) to fit my needs. This year's has been running light so far. > Must, fish, more!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D
  23. I tried it several years back and I loved it! Unfortunately, I decided to go with Berkley since it was readily available to me. I got my senses back and XPS Fluro is the only one I'll use. Oh, talked to Marty Stone and he swears by it too. (FYI, he doesn't have a line sponsor).
  24. Awesome pics! I think I still have goosebumps from Glenn's comments about Ike and Zona! Well put LBH! BR setting the standard!
  25. I'm kinda lucky. There is a lake 10 minutes from where I work so typically use my lunch hour to fish. The bass in my avatar and the two in my signature were all caught from shore using a spinnerbait. My favorites are Picasso, XCiter and Strike King.
