WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE MUSKY LURE?
How did I know MskSlyr was going to post on this one? ;D I would say my favorite is the one that caught my current PB, Bucher Top Raider in Baby Loon.

Piney Run Reservoir (Maryland)
Did they change their format? I fished there several years ago in a tournament but it was a big bass format tourament. From what I remember, MarVaBC is right about there not being much structure but later in the year there is plenty of grass to fish. Good luck if you fish it!

Hooks for tubes?
The majority of my tube fishing is on lakes filled with hydrilla so I favor a t-rigged tube. I use either Bass Pro's Magnum flippin tube or Mizmo's Big Boy tubes. These are a bulky 4" tube so I use a 4/0 EWG Gamakatsu hook.

Gander Mountain Rods?
Hey Lucky Craft Man, Like I said, I love my guide series! The musky in my signature was landed on my 7' MH action. They're a little heavier than St Croix's (my fishing partner's rod choice that I've had a chance to try) but well worth the money IMO. I use this rod primarily for smaller cranks and bucktails (it's rated for 5/8 to 3oz lures). Hope that helps you!

Gander Mountain Rods?
I have a couple of Gander's musky rods. I have a guide series and a competitor series. I LOVE the guide! The competitor series is a little on the heavy side for me.

Whats your worst part of bass fishing
Voted morons here. Jetskiers can be a pain but they've helped my cause on some species before (I'll save that secret! hee hee hee). Inconsiderate anglers, it doesn't fail, fishing from shore or on the boat. I've had anglers come up and camp next to me, I've had boaters (when I was fishing from shore) come right through the middle of the hole I was fishing and not even say a word. > Or maybe even worse are the ones that stop and try to talk to you while they cast right at you........ very frustrating!!!!!

bandit cranks
The majority of my crankbait success is on smallies. The 100 series works great for me on the upper Potomac. I agree with BiggerWorm, I haven't had one yet that didn't run true right out of the package!

2008 Fishing License Increase
$25.50 here in MD for a non-tidal and a trout stamp. Last year I paid $17.50 but the price hike was put in effect in July of last year. As far as I know, PA's didn't go up but I get my PA license as a Christmas gift.

Maryland Fishing Expo, this weekend
I've been going for several years now. Last years was pretty good. The Pro's made it worth while! I got to spend some great 1 on 1 time with Marty Stone (which definitely made it worth the price of admission!). As SPEEDBEAD stated, it's not the greatest show on earth. Don't get all pumped at the size of the building the show is in! Remember, half the expo is saltwater so cut the building in half to start. Then, the boat area is about 2/3 the size of half, which doesn't leave as much area for the vendors (don't forget the guides are in this section too, nothing against the guides! I got to meet Capt Mike of Indian Head charters last year) just stating it cuts down a little more on the space for the lures. Compared to other years, the seminar area seemed REALLY small and cramped! The last thing I've noticed since I've started going to this expo is they seem to draw really good pros to the event about every other year. Jimmy Houston, Marty Stone and Greg Hackney were there last year when I went. The only pro that held any interest for me to see this year was Brent Chapman. If history holds true, I'll be back next year. I will say that if anyone going hasn't seen one of Ken Penrod's seminars, plan on seeing his! IMO, he's a great presenter and really enjoys teaching anglers about smallies. Any spinnerbait fans attending, check out XCiter spinnerbaits! I'm stocked so there's another reason why I don't have to go this year. ;D I hope everyone that attends has a good time!

Really good spinnerbaits?
Picasso, XCiter and Strike King (in that order) are the ones I use the most. I do have a couple War Eagles and Bass Pro Shops Lazer Eye series that work well. Personally, I'm not a fan of the titanium models. For me, they have a tendancy to fowl up on the cast where the blades get caught up around the hook. I experienced this on several different brands so I stopped throwing them.

On board battery chargers
Thanks for the input! I'll check them out. Anyone else have any input?

Smallies Love the Jerks..
You may want to add Smithwick's Rattlin Rogues when it warms up some! Since we fish similar waters, you'll do well on them as well!!!! Black and silver, blue and silver and firetiger colors work well for me on the Potomac.

JANUARY PA meetup at Cabelas SUNDAY 1/12/08 WHOS IN 4 SURE
I'm in too! I'll stick out like a sore thumb wearing my Bass Pro Shops hat! ;D

On board battery chargers
I'm looking for an on board battery charger for my boat. I only need a two bank system. I was thinking about getting one of Bass Pro Shop's XPS chargers but after reading a couple of the reviews on their site, it hasn't given me much confidence in them. Has anyone have, or had, the XPS that can given me any feedback to change my mind? I'm also considering the Pro Mariner series as well. Any input, good or bad, would be greatly appreciated!

Another small Potomac musky
Oh, someone got jokes! Funny have you forgetten you're OLDER than me! Don't like the cold??? Funny, I ski, I've been fishing year round for quite a few years now. It must be your advanced age that has you confusing me with someone else! ;D

Another small Potomac musky
Thanks Boett but I just don't have the patients for catfishing. I gave that up quite some time ago. Thanks rondef! Yeah Maltese, I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it! That was a task trying to get the hook out of its mouth!!!!

Stickbait help!
Smithwick Rattlin Rogues are my go to jerkbait but I also use Bass Pro's as well. I mainly thrown them for smallies but walleye and muskies seem to like them too. In warmer water conditions, the more irractic the better! In cooler water, a pull-pause retrieve has been productive for me.
