Scents do they make a difference.
i only use scents as lube for swimbaits and frogs (Canyon Plastics 4.5'' frog) a plus is that the lube doesn't smell unnatural so i guess you can say that i use scents not to add taste to the lure but as to mask the lube scent , does that make sense ???

Need Help!!! Stren vs. P-Line
use 2# CXX for bluegills and 6# or 8# CXX for large mouth . actually you might not want to go over 6# CXX on a 2500 size spinning reel , 8# is pushing it !!! as far as the dia. of CXX in the 2-6# range , my opinion is they are pretty darn close to the same dia. as most other lines in that test (izorline , trilene xl , maxima , etc... )

Catfish swimbait
thats a nice bait . i always wondered why none of the big swimbait makers never made that many (if any at all) catfish swim baits . in a lake i fish , i have personally seen alot of bass eat young catfish very aggresively . again , nice bait and good species choice , im positive it will get hammered

Blowups behind my frog
my take on this is that the bass go up through hole in the slop and alot of times miss it , that why we sometimes get that bass on a re-cast to that same spot/hole . i have always equated that to standard frog fishing . i have recently been letting the frog sink how it wants while reeling it super slow ( i don't use hollow bodied/floating frogs any more ) and pausing it alot , allowing it to sink . if i miss the bass or it misses me , i re-cast to the same spot and usaully catch him .

nates baits ''el grande''
just got this response from Nate himself---'' Just saw the post and was initially a bit puzzled. Well the answer to your question is that the current El Grandes come with 7/0 Mustads on them. I was initially putting 5/0 Owner St-66's (which I laquered with black finish) however I had a lot of suggestions to go with a thinner guage hook. So the website is INCORRECT. It must have gotten mixed up when it was updated with the new pictures. I will have it changed this evening.'' Please feel free to ask if you have any further questions. Thanks! Nate

nates baits ''el grande''
wondering if anyone has one and do they come with 7/0 Owner hooks ( like their website says ) or do they come with 5/0 Owner hooks ?? i looked at Owners website and they don't list 7/0 trebles . so maybe they listed them wrong on the Natesbaits website . anyhow , if you own/have owned this bait , how did you like it ??? thanks ...

What's Your Favorite Type of Strike?
nothing can beat frog fishing !!! specially when you have paused it and your eyes wander off the frog cause your checking the next possible location to cast to , then WHAM , you see and feel the explosion and force you self to hesitate for a second then set the hook and feel the monster pulling back ..... dang , i want to go throw some frogs !!!!

BPS snaps
was wondering if these hold up , i just picked up a pack of size 3 at BPS tues. night for $1.99 . i usaully use BPS offshore angler dou-lock snaps . has anyone had opening problems with these . would like to hear it if you have experience with them . btw , i have been recently been using Norman magnum speed clips , been using them for swimbaits and they hold up great !!!

IF you could have any components for a custom rod.......
you might want to think about a longer rod , i used to think a 7' rod would be plenty long but ever since i got my swimbait rods , wich are both 7' 11'' , i now want to get a 7' 6'' MH and a 7' 6'' MED. . btw , i use my 2-6 oz. swimbait rod for throwing frogs and the long length really helps with getting super long , accurate casts . just my opinion.....

fishing with live bait
when i use shiners or bluegill as bait , i use a treble hook , size 2 for shiners and either a 1/0 or 2/0 for bluegill depending on the size of the blue gill . you will pretty much never have the bass swallow the hook , most times you will hook them in the top of the mouth or on the gill bone structure . where i fish i have shown everybody there and they have all converted to trebles and love them .....

Yo Zuri Hybrid vs PLINE PF/CX/CXX review
i find that yo-zuri (6 #) sinks way to much as i was using it for fishing for bluegills and i was making long casts . when i go to retrieve the line (with bobber) it drags the bobber down and a ton of slop with it . btw , i was using the ulta-soft . so i might try the stuff in 10# or 12# on my baitcaster . but there are alot of other lines that i think i would go to before the yo-zuri .... as far as CXX goes , i was using it for swim baits but recently went to a line that is much more managable , IZORLINE XXX !!!! this line is very strong also and you don't have the nightmare slinkyness of CXX . i only like CXX in 10# and under , anything else , no thanks ...........
