  1. Theres a picture on the live blog showing Shaw tied up to a tree and the caption reads that he had to tie up to get a good position to fish. Isn't that considered anchored and therefore illegal in BASS tournies??
  2. Thank you!! I haven't used them on C-Rigs...I like them as flipppin/pitchin baits.
  3. I'm looking for for a place to find "old" models of YUM plastics. I say old, but I think it was only about 5 or six years ago, but they stopped making them after they starting making the 'Money' line of baits. I'm looking to buy doozies and sooies. Doozies are a long tube, it is a killer on carolina rigs. The sooie is a creature bait with a couple tentacles and a tube skirt type tail. I can't find them anymore and my stash is getting dangerously low. Anyone know a site to find these on??
  4. I thought they only picked their Classic weigh-in song. If he chose it, fine. If BASS did it, I think it's kinda messed up!
  5. Did anyone notice they played Blue Oyster Cult's "Godzilla" when Morizo Shimizu weighed in yesterday? Kind of odd considering it's about a giant lizard that destroys is home country!!!
  6. NO QUESTION-----BASS CAT. Nitro would be a last resort option for me.
  7. Does water clarity have anything to do with the quality of the image? The wind was blowing and the water was dingy. I'll get you a screen shot and a pic of the 'ducer when I can.
  8. I seem to be getting a lot of interference or noise on the downscan from about 0-15 feet of water. All the settings I see are for the Sonar, not the downscan. Anyone know how to get rid of this?
  9. Are you thinking of Mark Menendez??? It was a couple years ago that he did that I think.
  10. In a way, not pre-fishing can be beneficial. If you have ever heard of the saying "fishing the moment" then that's exactly what you're doing. You're fishing the fish that day with the weather conditions you're in. It does no good to fish a week before when it's 70 degrees and sunny, then when the tourney comes around, it's 40 degrees and pouring rain. Also, sometimes you can get hung up on what you were doing a week ago, and most likely come tourney time, the fish are doing something totally different. Especially, this time of year, when the conditions change so much and the fish are moving a lot more. Case and point, the jig bite you explained you found, then a couple days later, it was gone. Pre-fishing did nothing to help you in that case. Pre--fishing can be beneficial, especially on a lake you haven't been to. However, it can also be a hindrance for the reasons I stated above. Use your knowlege of fish location, consider the conditions and just fish. You'll be amazed at what you can do by going with your intuition. Another idea, pre-fishing isn't just going to the lake. At least find some time for map study. Look at your map in conjunction with google earth or whatever satellite website you like and locate some spots you think fish would be. Set up a 'loose' plan and go with it. At least you don't go in totally blind. I did this for a tourney where I hadn't been to the lake until the day of the tourney....I finished third!
  11. I am sooooo excited to Rick Clunn in the hunt for a win. He has always been one of my bass fishing heroes. I think he changed the game!!
  12. I might try them. I'm stuck on the old wiggle warts. They have had that "hunting" action for years...you can pay a pretty penny for the old warts too!!
  13. Checking out all the pics from Falcon, I noticed that Steve Kennedy is running a Nitro. I know he was a HUGE Ranger guy. Does anyone know when he started running the Nitro...does he have a sponsorship deal with BPS? He still wearing the same, logo-less except for Kinami, jersey he always has. Just curious.
  14. I throw all brands of stickbaits and they all have their place. The main reason I like the LC's and Megabass is the castability. Trying to throw a Rogue in the wind is nearly impossible. The stock hooks are better too in the expensive lures, but I change them out anyway so that doesn't matter. The finish looks better, but I've noticed the LC finish isn't very durable.
  15. What do you mean by this happened to the right person??? What could have been a fatal crash happened to the right person?????
  16. Check out the live blog on bassmaster website. IKE ran his boat into the woods. The pictures are awesome!!!!!! He and his marshal are OK!!
  17. I like the english guy that does the 24-hour fisherman. They give him goals that he has to accomplish within a 24 hour time frame...pretty cool. Fishing is weird over there....lots of farm pond or man-made lake fishing. Interesting to see their tactics though.
  18. Would you care to share your "recipe" for making that tequila color??
  19. I don't think it matters to the fish. I think what matters more is which one you have more confidence in.
  20. I don't use Silver Buddies. I know they catch fish....I just have zero confidence in them. Also, not a big fan of anything Berkley or Strike King. No particular reason....I just feel there is way better stuff out there.
  21. Awesome....I will try that tonight!!
  22. I have figured out almost everything with the unit that I need except for the ol' cliche of not being able to set the time. For some reason, my clock is an hour behind and I'm not sure how to correct it. Assistance please? I would like it to stay on EST because we use this for all our weigh-in times despite the time zone we're in.
  23. I think it's just as easy to measure it on a board. During a tourney I always have my Golden Rule handy so it's not that much of a time saver. As far as clarity, I just gauge that with my eyes or I use a white bait, let it out close the boat and see how long it takes to dissappear.
  24. I get more excited than Cliff when I beat my friends!!! You can't tell someone how to act, but personally I would have liked to see some sort of emotion. It was kind of uncomfortable watching him when the confetti was falling. After he held the trophy up for about 2 seconds, he was just standing there. Even when he did his "victory lap" he didn't wave at the crowd. It just kind of awkward. A previous post said that he doesn't let emotions get the best of him. That's great for competition, but once it's over....let it out!!! But that's the way he rolls I guess. For all we know...he could have walked out of the arena after his press conference and screamed his lungs out!!!
