Why do we spend $25 on a crankbait when...
He also changes out the hooks to shorter shank and I he had a few custom Blue Back Herring paint jobs for one of the tournys last year. You might at buy a Sk for $4-5, but you will spend a couple more bucks putting quality hooks on them. That "custom" blue back herring paint job was a aurora black lucky craft crank, when the camera view went to his rod deck for a split second i saw it rigged on his crankbait rod.

ACTUAL bad experiences with quantum reels
I got my first energy pt baitcaster(2008 model not the new one) and it worked great then after about 2 1/2 hours of use tremendous backplay in the handle started to occur > took it back and got another, after about ten minutes that one started making weird noises and backlashing alot, took that back and got a Shimano Citica 200D and i couldn't be happier, needless to say i am now a shimano man and have gotten a curado e7 since them and i absolutely love it ;D Jason

Looking to get a new rod and reel..
haha didn't you just get a new daiwa megaforce baitcaster and tierra rod for christmas??? The monkey bit ya ;D I think that you will much success with a shimano curado e. As for the rod, pick something lightweight, like a shimano cumara. That combo together is one of the lightest i have ever had in my hand(my friend has 5 cumaras, on 3 of them he has the curado e and on the other two he has revo stx, he says he likes the curados more.)

gulp alive
I got a nice 1 1/4 pound smallmouth on the 3" minnow along with another dink smallmouth. I was drifting them weightless in the slow current of a 2' deep river ;D other than that they leaked and stunk up my mom's car and one of my tacklebags. NOT GOOD. Also the baits i recieved in the bucket were somewhat stiff and didn't really have any action at all, I can't believe i caught a fish on it let alone two.

what is your take on the citica d?
Measuring. You should see me with an excalibur xr50

finese baitcasting reel
shimano curado 201e7, i use mine mainly for finesse but do throw 1/4 oz rattletraps on it from time to time. BPS pro lite, and if your rich, get a daiwa ito alphas, or pixy, or pixillas, those reels look insane.

Catfish in the winter?
Studies show that in temps below 55 degrees, cats eat about 1/10th of what they would eat in 70-90 degree weather. I wouldn't. 8-)

what is your take on the citica d?
Yea it really is great i can hit 70-75 yards if i really, really whip it. I know i hit around that when i can see the knot on my spool ;D

what is your take on the citica d?
what is your take on the Shimano Citica D? My take: I have the 200d version and it is a little heavy (9.9 oz), but i can still palm it even with my small hands. It feeds line nice and even on the spool which makes for effortless casting and it balances perfect on my berkley lightning rod SHOCK 6'6" MH Casting rod. It has a smooth drag and comfortable grips on the handles, also easy access to VBS brakes (6 pin) It reels in unbelievebly smooth for easy retrieves. As for casting i have 4 brakes off and 2 on in an X pattern, i have the spool tension nob (the one by the handle) set extremely loose, and believe it or not today i took it out in the yard and mananged a 55-60 yard cast with a 3/8 oz casting plug. I like my curado200e7 a little better(because of ergonomics) but My Citica200d is casting the same and retrieving the same as the curado, I just love it! So what are your thoughts on the Citica D??? I'd be interested to hear what you have to say. Just my 2 cents. 8-) -Jason

Daiwa Advantage153hsta or Quantum energy pt?
on my first one the anti reverse stopped working, before that it was awesome my second kept making this weird sound when reeling and the gears got rough i think i got some bad reels, all i'm saying is that i'll stick with shimano leave everyone else to play with quantams, i don't abuse my equipment and i clean and maintain them every month, i just like my shimanos better---Jason 8-)

Bass Pro "makes over" all their reels
I am seriously looking at that new pro-lite

Daiwa Advantage153hsta or Quantum energy pt?
I had a quantam energy pt, it worked great for about 2 hours than it crapped out, then i took it back and got another one, and it crapped out after about 10 minutes, then i took that back and got a Shimano citica 200d, i couldn't be happier! it's worked flawelessly ever since ;D Between those two i woud get the Daiwa, if you spend a little more money you could get a reel better than those two reels combined, a shimano curado 200e7 I just got one, and man i love my citica200d but my curado beats it in every aspect, smooth strong silent and reliant. 8-) Jason

Revo S side plate
Or.......... you could throw it at the wall and get a shimano
-
Anyone using this reel?
I havn't seen any around here, BPS doesn't sell 'em, Cabelas does for i think around 80$, Tackle Tour wrote a review on it, that's where you'll find all of your best info.

Fast vs. Extra Fast
XF rods have a faster action, the tip is stiffer, it's better for jigs/weighted plastics. I Fish Fast and Moderate only because when if fish a rod that is XF i feel it is too stiff and that i am pulling the lure away from the fish, i like softer tip actions for better accuracy to. -Jason

Daiwa Fuego or Shimano Curado E
IMO the curado throws lighter stuff alot better than some of the other reels i've used, i personally have not thrown the fuego but i have my curado 201e7 on a 6' Medium Action Rod and i can throw weightless 3 inch senkos on it. The thing is that the curado has an extremely light spool, this enables it to cast lighter lures much better, i also think centrifigul brakes are more efficient at casting lighet baits, just my .02 cents. -Jason
