  1. I don't actually have any pictures of my instruments to post. My current lineup consists of; 1. Carvin LB76 6 string 2. Schecter body P bass with '72 Jazz neck, Schecter bridge, DiMarzio P pickup, DeArmond Gold Tone humbucker, All Parts concentric knobs, switches, and jacks. 3. Dean Performer acoustic bass guitar. 4. Upright with carved spruce top, Gage Realist pickup. I'm playing the Carvin in my avatar photo and the neck and headstock of the upright is just visible to my far left.
  2. Mid 70's, perhaps some rain this weekend. It's gorgeous right now. All too soon the weather will turn to unbearable so I'm enjoying it as long as possible.
  3. Check out this website. This guy invented this rig. www.tdipowerrack.com.
  4. I like dark and white.
  5. I have a Cardinal 101 and like it. Also an Abu Garcia Agenda, Pflueger Solara, and a 1965 South Bend Spinmaster II that I bought new and it still works great. I have converted all my spinning reels to right hand crank (except my SpinmasterII, it can't be converted) like mt baitcasters.
  6. I skip a coin across the surface of the water before my first cast.
  7. I have 2 of them on my boat, 3 and 2 years old. They're great. Highly recommend.
  8. A light weight boat is going to be pushed around by the wind a lot more than a heavier boat, simply physics. If I'm on fish or on good structure in strong wind, I'll anchor by the bow and fish for a while. I usually fish in sheltered coves or river channels out of the strongest winds. My tm is a 50 pound thrust, 16' boat.
  9. I have no preconceived prejudices about the type of boat from which someone fishes. I obviously have a rather low budget boat, and when I'm on the water, I pay attention to all the boats around me, from cartoppers, to bass rigs, to pontoons, to see if people are catching, and if so what they're using and presentation. We all can't afford expensive or elite fishing platforms and those fishing platforms certainly don't equate to fishing talent. I seen some awful musicians playing first rate equipment, and some terrific musicians playing well used pawn shop crap.
  10. I simply enjoy the peace, quiet, and solitude of being on my boat on a remote cove on the lake, watching blue herrons, bald eagles, hawks, etc. Catching fish is just a bonus, the icing on the cake. And I love icing.
  11. Yes, but you'll lose only the leader, none of your main line. Also, if you are using braid, a mono or flouro leader is far less visible.
  12. Rattletrap Carolina Rigged watermellon lizard Booyah Chartreuse and white spinnerbait with Colorado blades.
  13. My Grandmother taught me to fish from the bridge over Cypress Creek right next to their house in Ft.Lauderdale Florida when I was 13 years old in 1964. Thanks Grandma.
  14. White bass don't bed like smallmouth and largemouth ( or any other of the sunfish family), they're egg scatterers and spawn in river current or lake structure, so tageting them is different than the sunfish family of fishes.
  15. Cool! I used to fish the Pompano, Ft. Lauderdale, and Deerfield Beach piers when I was a teenager. Caught a lot of mackerel off those piers.
  16. I'm pretty old school myself. I use only Berkley Trilene XL mono in 4, 8, 10, and 12 pound test on spinning and baitcast rigs. The only rig that is spooled differently is my heavy catfish rig, which has Trilene Big game 50 pound test.
  17. My friend rented a pontoon in September, and now can't wait to sell his 24' Sea Ray to get one. He usually fishes with 2 or 3 others on his boat, and it sucks for that many people. My boat is a 16' Glastron Sportster set up for fishing, and it's great for my partner and myself. I know for sure that Rick will enjoy a pontoon far more than his current boat. The photo is my Glastron.
  18. I plan my fishing trips , when possible, by moon phases. I prefer new moon phase, but also fish full moon phase.
  19. Schedule 40 PVC pipe with threaded caps is the way I'd go. Good luck bending or crushing that!
  20. Keep a few ketchup packets from fast food places in your tacklebox. Squeeze some onto spoons or spinner blades and polish with a napkin. They'll be nice and shiny.
  21. What M Star said. I also carry emergency flares, 2 fire extinguishers, a compressed air canister horn, 2 anchors, VHF radio, 2 million candle power hand held searchlight, and at least one gun.
  22. Welcome to the forum. For surface baits, I like Jitterbugs, Hula Poppers, Zera Spooks, and floating jerk baits like original Rapalas. Soft swimbaits; 3" Storm WildEye Swim Shad baits in shad and baby bass colors. Booyah chartreuse and white spinnerbaits. Rattletraps. Carolina rigs with watermellon color worms and lizards, glass beads in red and green with brass weights. That's a start for you of some of my favorite baits.
  23. Can you imagine the fish in Heaven's lakes and rivers?
