Is it ok to remove the foam in a coleman crawdad?
When I did a rebuild of my boat ( not a Coleman) I replaced and ADDED lots of flotation foam.

How can i catch a longnose gar?
Gar are fish eaters with very bony mouths, very hard to get a hook into that bone. Take a 2/0 straight shank hook and wrap tie a 4" piece of white nylon rope to the shank, then paint some varnish to the thread wrap to seal it. Now unravel and fray the rope. Cast this and retrieve on or near the surface, jerking it like a minnow swimming. The frayed rope will tangle in the gar's teeth and it will not be able to throw the lure. The hook is not really needed for gar fishing, you could tie to just a hook shank without the hook, however, a bass or crappie may strike your lure and then you'll be glad you have the hook. Have fun!

LED nav lights.
I use an aftermarket AA cell stern light when anchored with the motor shut off , so my only battery drain is the fishfinder.

What is your favorite swim bait color?
I use shad, baby bass, and bluegill.

Carolina rigging
Also, I like to use 2 glass beads, one red, one green, with the brass weight. Two beads make more noise than one.

Most Beautiful Part of the United States of America
I once drive big rigs long haul, 48 states. I love the scenery of the west where I live, but one of the most beautiful places I saw in my travels was the Lake Champlain area of New York and Vermont.

Learning to play the guitar
I've been a pro/semipro musician most of my life. If you seriously want to learn to play well, invest in lessons. I assure you, you won't regret proper instruction including proper instrument holding, hand positioning, reading music, etc.

Biggest Fish You Ever Hooked
2 years ago, while bass fishing, I caught a 25 pound flathead cat. Took about 15-20 minutes to boat it. Caught on a Quantum Mantra reel, Quantum Express IM7 medium action rod, and 12 pound test Trilene XL.

Re: Big Bens Punishment...
These sort of things just make me prouder of our now retired QB Kurt Warner. What a role model!

Snap Swivels???
Bingo. There's a big difference between snaps and snap swivels. Snap swivels will kill bait action on certain baits like cranks. Snaps will not. I use snaps religiously on my crankbait rods because I like to experiment with different types/sizes/colors until I find one that is working that day. I have never had one break on me, knock on wood. RH/LH Baitcasting Reels
You'll get used to it. I spent many years using only left hand crank spinning reels before starting to use baitcast.(right hand crank). Now I've converted all my spinning reels to right hand crank just for consistancy. You might want to try that also, or just buy left hand crank baitcast reels.

Anyone still using their older equipment?
Back in 1965 I wanted a Mitchell 300 but didn't have the money. The salesman at the tackle store tole me that the SpinmasterII by South Bend was just as good for less money , so I bought it. I still use it on every fishing trip, it's my designated channel cat reel now.

Chilton repair manuals
I've used nothing but Hayne's for all my cars, trucks, and motorcycles for the last 30 years. Some minor mistakes in them, but overall they're quite accurate. I have a genuine Evinrude shop manual for my outboard.

Best Baitcasting Reel for Big Cats
The Penn 209 is a winch! If you get your truck stuck you can use it to pull it out of the mud ( joking). You should have no problems with it.

Backing a Trailer, Need some advice
Practice until you can back up and park anywhere you want with ease. As a former long haul big rig driver I highly recommend learning to use your mirrors. If you are looking over your shoulder, you can't see what's on either side of the front of your truck. Using mirrors, as you look from one mirror to the other, you can scan the area around the front of your truck for objects and people you will not see if you are looking behind.
