  1. I didn't mention in my previous post that the brown scale finish lure is a Musky Jitterbug, an oversized model with 3 treble hooks, one on each side of the lure, and one at the tail.
  2. My preference is Owner Stingers. I agree with Matt 5.0, cut off old hooks and use split rings to attach new hooks. Place a drop of superglue on each screw head, hook hangers and lip attachment.
  3. It appears to be some type of wrasse or parrotfish species. Where was it caught?
  4. I love Jitterbugs, and yes, the new ones are different. I have two old ones that I bought in the early 60's, and the lip shape is different between the old and new ones. The bodies are also slightly different. I definitely prefer the old models. They also came in many different finishes back then. My old ones are finished in a brown scale pattern, and a leopard frog pattern, but the color is black on white with a yellowish belly. I too change out the hooks for Owner Stingers.
  5. Carvin is very hard to beat for the cost. Their electronics are planned obsolesence, but their instruments are first rate. I'm playing a Carvin LB76 6 string in my avatar photo.
  6. You wouldn't believe the garbage dump the Arizona desert has become because of the illegal aliens!
  7. The Deer Hunter Ben Hur Spartacus The Magnificent Seven The Great Escape Sorcerer
  8. I frequently see live largemouth bass for sale at asian supermarkets here in Phoenix. Farm raised bass are legal to sell in stores. I also frequently see live channel catfish and sometimes live crappie!
  9. In-Fisherman and North American Fisherman. Very similar content.
  10. I use a syringe to inject air into my plastics to achieve some flotation.
  11. Was on I-17 yesterday and I called it right. The speeds are up to @ 15 over the speed limit with drivers swerving from lane to lane to get one more car behind them before dive bombing into the exit lane across 3 lanes of traffic! The death rate is about to go up! Hey Moby Bass, where do you live? I was born in Franklin Pa. and my parents still live in Clarington.
  12. I've put Owner Stingers on about 1/3 of my lures. I plan on replacing the hooks on everything eventually.
  13. Year round, although I prefer fall, winter, spring. Summer is just too freakin' hot!! I only do night fishing anymore in the summer. 110 to 118 daytime degrees is more than I can handle anymore.
  14. Moby Bass- here in Phoenix keeping up with the traffic can easily mean running 15mph over the speed limit. If I do that guess who'll be the one to get a ticket? Then ask the officer why he picked you for the ticket. The reply;"Ever go fishing? Ever catch ALL the fish?" lol.
  15. I always cast one handed. Perhaps I should try two handed casting? I fly cast as well, so one handed just seems more natural to me. I cast with my right hand and reel with my right hand. All my reels (baitcast, spinning, and fly cast) are right hand retrieve.
  16. We had speed cameras installed on our freeways in the Phoenix area for the last 2 years. They helped keep the Dale Earnharts slowed down a bit. They were all shut down this week. Now we'll be dealing with people doing 20 or more over the speed limit again, swerving from lane to lane. SCARY!
  17. Other than extremely southern waters, the winter temperatures will kill them if they are there at all. It's been illegal to import piranha for decades.
  18. I just set aside my older gear as I replace it with better equipment, and the older stuff is designated for guest use.
  19. I prefer 1 piece rods. The fewer pieces the better. Even my 9' fly rod is only a 2 piece. Many fly rods are 4 pieces.
  20. My Grandmother taught me to fish when I was 13 from the bridge over Cypress Creek right next to their house in Ft.Lauderdale Florida in 1964. Been fishing ever since.
  21. I always have at least 3 firearms on board .When I'm having problems with rude, antagonistic jet skiers, boaters, etc, I strap on my CCW shoulder holster. Amazing how polite people become.
  22. I use a syringe to inject air into any soft plastic bait I want to have bouyancy.
  23. My channel cat rig is a medium action Shakespere Uglystick rod with a BPS MegaCast MCM1000 reel spooled with @ 175 yards of 16 pound Trilene XT. My flathead cat rig is a medium heavy Rhino Kevlar rod with a Penn 209 levelwind reel spooled with @ 200 yards of 50 pound Trilene Big Game.
  24. Just finished adding the last of my first gallon. I'm self employed, and in this Obama-nible economy, I can only afford the fuel for a fishing trip about every 6 to 8 weeks. I sure miss the "good old days".
