Sharks in the Potomac?
Bulls can travel hundreds of miles upstream in rivers all over the world. People are killed frequently by them in the Ganges River in India. I once saw one in Cypress Creek in Ft.Lauderdale Florida all the way back where the fresh water lock is located, and people ski and swim in Cypress all the time! I never went more than knee deep in there after seeing that shark. It was a good 6 feet in length.

Can you help me Identify this fish? Definately not native.
They survive the winters here in Arizona. This is probably their range limit as it can get quite cold at night, however the water stays at a temperature where they manage to survive. As I stated, the state record weight for pacu here is 22 pounds.

Yep, Pacu. They are imported for the aquarium trade and released by their owners when they get too big. The Arizona record is 22 pounds.

I've been using 2 Everstart Maxx batteries from Wal-Mart for almost 4 years now with no problems whatsoever.

Books or Dvds
If you're a member of B.A.S.S. or N.A.F.C. they both publish very informative bass fishing books. For DVDs check out In-Fisherman or N.A.F.C. Both have great informative DVDs. I would shop for either of these products on e-bay. I've seen multiple titles for $25.

When Bass Is Out of Season I........
Bass is never out of season here. I do fish for other species on my fishing trips though. Largemouth and Stripers during the day, channel and flathead cats added to the mix at night.

How's the "Economy"affected your fishing ???
I own a dental laboratory and the dental profession has taken a major hit the last 2 years. A friend of mine had to close his lab this year and all the others that I know of are operating well below what they were 2 years ago.The larger labs around here (40 person capacity) are currently staffed at about 12 people. I'm barely surviving on about 1/3 to 1/2 the income I need to pay my bills and expenses. Many dental offices in the state have closed their doors in the last two years. As for me, I've only been able to afford to take my boat out 3 times this year and don't anticipate another fishing trip until October, if I'm lucky.

Ugh...losing business
I know what you're saying. I own a dental laboratory and this profession has seen a huge drop off in the last two years. A good friend of mine closed his doors this year. I've been barely surviving on about one half to one third of what I took in previous to the last two years. And there is no sign of any turn around any time soon in Arizona's economy. Fishing time has taken an almost fatal hit. Just can't afford it. I've had my boat out three times this year.

Fall Lurking
Can't come soon enough. I'm so sick of 100+ degree days. October through April is my favorite time to fish here.

Caught a catfish
Ah very good guess . I did weight it and 2lb 3oz on berkley digi scale. I fish for catfish as much as I do for bass and I have a pretty good eye for channels weight when they're smaller .I need a few pounds either way on larger ones. I'll say 8 for skunked again's fish.

Best excuse you've given for buying tackle.
I don't need an excuse, my wife doesn't mind me buying tackle.

Caught a catfish
Looks like @ 2 pounder. Great eating size. I do my summer fishing here at night because it's just too freakin hot during the day for me. I always put out a medium action rod baited for channels while I'm casting for bass. Gotta have something to eat for breakfast ya know!

Can any experienced lake map readers analyze this for me?
All Arizona lakes are actually reservoirs, and consequently quite deep. At it's deepest Parker Canyon is actually about 1/2 the depth of most lakes here. I've never fished there, a little too far for me to travel. I'd fish it like the lakes in the Phoenix area, the back ends of coves, cliff faces on turns, flats, creek channels, and the feeder river/creek.

knot preference
I don't think that the trilene knot is stronger than the palomar. Not even close in my eyes I gave a video about knot testing to my fishing partner where various knots were tested on a machine that measured the pound rating at which the knot broke. Trilene knot rated best at @ 100 % the line rating, the Palomar rated at @ 95% the line rating, and improved clinch at @ 75% line rating. They also tested many more knots that I've never used.

knot preference
I use Palomar and Trilene knots. Both are great, Trilene knot is a little stronger.

Should I upgrade or update
It can be extremely hard to find parts for those old Chryslers. You're quite underpowered anyhow. My 16' boat will run at nearly 40 mph with 2 anglers and full gear with my 1967 Evinrude 80.

Stupid hit and run driver
Yeah, exactly. Very common here.
-
spark plugs
I change mine twice a year in my 1967 Evinrude 80.

spark plug change
I use the Autolite equivalent to the recommended Champion plug in my 1967 Evinrude 80.

Stupid hit and run driver
We have so many hit and runs here in Phoenix that they normally aren't even news worthy unless someone is killed. If the hitters vehicle won't run, they bail and escape on foot. Illegal aliens usually.

So senseless!!!
Yeah, a 17 year old high school girl was shot to death about 500 yards from my house last summer by her gang wannabe puke boyfriend. I'd like to take these pukes for a flight and boot their sorry butts out the door at 10,000 feet.

Holy Smokes this thing is HUGE!!!
That's what she said!
