  1. I actually do like the idea of having some lighter floro, so I think I will do that. As far as the braid on the baitcaster, last year was the first time I ever used one, and I did initially spool it with braid, problem for me was the backlashes, murdered my time on the water dealing with them. That being said, my Pfleuger is a much better reel than the Quantum was, and possibly wouldn't have as much trouble, but I'm gonna try the mono for now on that one, and use the 7 footer for frogs and stuff in the salad. Thanks for the input.
  2. Okay, so I have 5 rods/reels, each of which is rigged differently to cover different situations. What I was thinking, is to list them below, and get some input/thoughts, whatever, on any changes that should be made, or anything to be switched around or stuff like that. All of the line on each of them is new this winter. Here is what I have: 1) 7' medium rod w/ spinning reel -40lb braid 2) 6.5' med heavy rod w/ my new(and only) baitcast reel (Pfleuger Trion) 12lb mono 3) 6.5' medium rod w/ spinning reel -35lb braid 4) 6.5' med. rod, spinning reel w/ 12 flourocarbon 5) 6' med. rod, spinning reel w/ 12lb flourocarbon (set up as my carolina rig setup) How would you change any of these to improve the lineup? As far as line goes, I have pretty much everything, including more mono in 10lb and 12lb, flouro I have 12lb and 14lb, and braid I have 35lb and 50lb. Any suggestions out there? Thanks, Everybody!
  3. I'm pretty sure there's no closed season for bass as long as you have a valid fishing license, and your'e not on restricted waters (private property), so fish away, and have fun!
  4. Okay, I've never fished successfully with flukes, so I was wondering how to do it. I just bought a bunch, including Strike King's Zulu and Zoom's Salty Super Fluke. Are these primarily top water baits to be fished weightless? What conditions do they work in? Just trying to expand my arsenal. Thanks
  5. I did it! Yesterday I sold my old bass boat, and bought the Nitro. I'm pretty excited. Yeah, its a '95, but it only has 115 hours on it, and literally not a scratch on the black and silver gel coat. I have heard that the trailers suck, though, I thought about maybe Line-x for the trailer. Is this a good idea? Also any suggestions on what to use to keep that finish looking good?
  6. Worked fine for me, and I learned something... I NEED to get me some of those baits. I had no idea the action was so sweet!
  7. Hi, nice to have you here. I hear ya.. I'm also addicted to bass fishing, and Bassresource, so much info, and so many great members. You're going to love it here!
  8. Thanks, guys. Couple things... the Nitro in question is $6000, I still need to sell my boat first. I drool over this boat because it's literally like new, with only 115 hours on it and absolutely flawless!. The other point that was brought up really isn't an issue, since I've only had my old boat on the water once, before I realized the compression problem I had with my old motor, and had to pay $2500 for the newer motor on the boat now. So now I have $4000 invested in a boat I've only used once so far, so if I upgraded, believe me, I wouldn't miss my old boat at all, and I'd be running a boat thats like new with everything I want and need. Thanks for the input, guys.
  9. are you talking about the 4" bluegill 4 segment bait?
  10. Ok, folks, I currently have an older bass boat that I just had a newer motor put on to. The boat is an 18' Promaster and the motor is a 1990 Evinrude 90hp VRO (with a mid 90's 4 wire VRO unit). The thing runs great, plus I just installed a better Lowrance unit. The trolling motor is a 64lb motor guide, and I have 2 new batteries on board. Basically, I'm ok with my boat, but an opportunity came up for me to get into a 1995 Nitro 170 Rick Clunn with a 115hp Mercury, fully loaded boat with all the goodies. Some input on this Nitro would be great, since the deal would require me to invest about another $3000. Please help!!!

What's up, man?! Welcome to the best fishing site on the web, brother. I told you it it rocked. You better get reading all those 900 or so articles, because open water will be here soon, and if you plan on defending that title you claimed last year, you're gonna need all the help you can get from these guys on here. Anyway, enjoy, and good to have you on board.
  12. that smallie would be a state record here in New Hampshire. NICE!!!
  13. I'm from N.H. and we're lucky to have so many good places to fish. Some of the places I fish a lot are Turkey pond in Concord, the Merrimack River, Lake Massebesic in Auburn, and Turtle pond in Loudon. This past year was the first year of boat ownership for me, so I'll be looking to expand and explore some new water this year. I really can't wait for the ice to be gone!! I'm going crazy, plus the bait monkey is killin' me!! Good to meet ya'll

  15. thanks. That does help...a lot. Anyone from the area and is familiar with Turtle Pond in Concord/Loudon N.H. should show up. The tourney is Saturday the 31st, starts at 10:00 till dark. I'll be out there just because I need to catch me a bass...BAD! I think I'll try to get some shiners on tip ups, and try some jigging as well. Should be a good time
  16. Alright, here's the deal, I have never ice fished before, but next weekend there's a tournament on a pond I know very well from fishing there from the boat a ton of times. So, I'm looking for advice on what to put down there and what types of areas will be best. I do have access to an ice fishing jig setup or a tip up or whatever, I just don't know what to use. I'd appreciate any help I can get!!
  17. really? no,it's not charged up. Thanks, I'll get that thing charged up and let you know.
  18. Hello! Short of being out actually fishing, this is the best place to be!
  19. WOW!! This trip sounds amazing! I'm working on the wife to see if it would be possible, only 1232 miles separating us. Coming from N.H., do you think it would be better to tow my boat or rent one there?
  20. Thank you guys very much. The cool thing about Bassresource, is I FEEL welcome. I've been learning things from this site and its members for months, and finally decided, that instead of just reading for my own good, maybe I could possibly help somebody else, so I'm going to join in on as many forums as I can.
  21. I love that lake! It's one of the few places to fish here in N.H. where you can reasonably expect to catch 3+ pounders on every time out there. I myself really just discovered it this past year, and caught 10 bass over 4lbs, with my biggest one at 5lbs 9oz, most of which were on Senkos, but Carolina rigging a green pumpkin Zoom finesse worm also killed 'em! Have fun out there, and maybe I'll see you on the water!
  22. I just re-powered my bass boat (that I bought this past fall and haven't been able to run yet!) from an '82 Evinrude 115hp, to a '90 Evinrude 90hp VRO. She runs great and I'm really excited to get her in the water as soon as possible, but I have a problem. Apparently, the overheat horn in my controls is not compatible with the new motor, so I get a constant annoying horn sound as soon as you turn the key. Any advice out there on where to find the right one?
  23. How's everybody doing? I recently just joined BassResource as a member, and I have to say thank you to all of you for such a great site, and so much info! I really feel as though I will be a better bass fisherman this year because of this site. Keep up the good work, and keep it coming, cuz I'm hooked for life!!!
