Can You Catch A Peacock With A Frog??
Mornings have been pretty decent for peas, caught this and it's twin this morning at 6:30, another nice one a few days ago in the am as well.

12Lb Mono Knot Strength.
I'd be willing to bet it's the quality of the knot, any "fishing" knot should be no problem. I use only the clinch knot with mono, my tags ends are around 1/8" maybe a tad more. Regardless of line type or knot being used a good practice is to singe the tag end and put a bead on the end, will help the line from not pulling thru.

Fluke Prices?
About what they are here too. I fish the DOA 5.5" jerk shad quite a bit, buy them direct 4" 4.49 and 5.5" 5.69, both 12 packs.

Is 20Lb Pp To Much For A Spinning Reel?
Braided lines are more about diameter than strength, 20# PP is going to break around 35#. The diameter will be no issue on 2500 sized reel. I personally have downsized my braided lines because of the strength issue, my own opinion is that they are just too strong. On my smaller reels I'm using 10# braid and don't use any thing heavier than 20# on larger reel for salt water. The chain is going to be as strong as the leader, when I'm using 10# braid I like my leaders in the area of 10# mono in freshwater. Not a recommendation just the way I like to do it.

Technique Vs Bait
I agree 100%, I've caught fish while a top water lure was rippling in the water as I was untangling a wind knot, more than once. If location is the paramount ingredient for success, which seems to be the consensus opinion, why do some professionals consistently do better than others? I do believe they all know how to find fish and have their own techniques perfected, if not they wouldn't be pros.

Am I The Only Crazy One?
Electric reels have been around for years............not your ideal bass set up.

What Do You Do With Slag?
Take it to a local scrap shop, won't be worth much as it's a contaminated item, but they should be able to at least take it off your hands. Once the item gets to a lead smelter the contaminates will be removed. Safest way I can think of is having it recycled.

Question On Losing Big Fish On Spinner Bait
Hooks like spinner bait hooks can enlarge the hole in the fish's jaw, if the line isn't kept tight the fish can get unbuttoned.

Technique Vs Bait
The lure dictates the technique or does the technique dictate the lure? Find the fish and the odds are dramatically increased, location is the most important.

Fishing Apparel
In Florida Bealls has a really nice fish clothing department. The last few times I was at Walmart they have been carrying what looks to be a nice line of fishing apparel, pants, shorts and shirts. I buy Penn long sleeve t-shirts, Walmart had them but only in short sleeve, maybe in the future they'll carry long sleeved.

Help (Problems With A Shimano Reel)
If a spinning reel isn't perfect out of the box, exchange it for another one. If the second one isn't perfect either try another model or another brand. I would not take it apart.

New To Leaders & Braid
I mostly use braid but when I do use a nylon line I don't really have a brand favorite that I swear by. Fishing a grassy area I'm not sure if abrasion is major issue, but if stealth is a concern try a f/c leader. The albright or alberto knots work very nicely and they are thin profile knots. Myself being a braid user I generally use a swivel, reason being in case of a wind knot where I need to cut off line, the albright can be tough to tie with a light braid when it's real windy. Additionally I don't carry trim tools, the swivel just is more efficient for me.

Line Jumping Off On Spinning Reel
Loading the line on the reel correctly will not affect the coiling issue, the highlighted will, as Sam mentioned don't over fill. Coiling should not be confused with line twist, 2 different problems. Once I'm spooled up I will always troll my line out before fishing, I also troll it out at the end of each outing so I'm good to go for the next time. Many use a line conditioner, they work fine as does the water method.

Yellow Braid?
I have PP yellow on 2 reels, just like the way it looked on my Penn conquer and Dicks had no green in stock when I spooled up my cabo. Never had a bleeding problem and didn't notice the fade until I put it next to new line. I don't line watch and I always use a leader.

Trout Fishing Fort Mccoy
I was there around 1971, had a buddy stationed at Camp Mccoy in Sparta for 2 weeks. I remember fishing an area near Melvina Wisc, caught some nice trout. Had a great time in both La Crosse and Winona, some real pretty country there.

Can You Catch A Peacock With A Frog??
I hear tell of people catching peas on an array of soft plastics in Broward, in Palm Beach people claim only hard baits work. A peacock is peacock, don't see any reason for them not to hit just about anything, I catch mine on marabou jigs.

Does Anyone Fish Whole "sets" Of Rods
Woods switched to Nike in 2002, that's about 50 wins ago. True he hasn't closed the deal on a major in 5 years, Nicklaus had a 6 year drought on majors from 80'-86', 40 to 46 years of age. More to the topic of staying within a certain brand but still the golf comparison, TW used Titleist, Scotty Cameron and Nike putters, all had a Ping grip with the white letters blackened out, it's all about feel which I think is the same in a fishing rod.

El Rio Canal In Boca
I'm not sure where you can park a vehicle @ Congress and the El Rio, there are some office building a little further south. The further south from Glades the saltier it gets, eventually the canal dumps into the ocean via the Hillsboro inlet. The ramp I mentioned at the Cynthia arms is where the spillway is, especially in rainy season fresh water flows into the tidal part of the canal. Some years ago I caught a bass that was a good 6# where the canal intersects Glades rd. https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=205722576351840746262.0004faab7d53b20bcfcc3&msa=0&ll=26.367211,-80.095654&spn=0.002028,0.003809

The Unwritten "rules"
Other than some of the etiquette issues I have personal rules. I don't use live or cut bait, don't use a scent enhancement, don't play with a smart phone, don't carry a scale, don't take pics of 15" fish and don't want any one with me that does any of those things. If you have 100 lures, analyzing the weather every 10 minutes, discussing rods, reels and lines and telling me you got the best made, don't even get out of your car you ain't coming with me. Those are my rules, that said I'll be at the Boynton inlet at 5:30 am, it's going to be a good day for some monsters.

Tightenig A Braid Knot
I've cut myself but it usually happens when I'm tightening an alberto knot, not often enough for a major concern.

El Rio Canal In Boca
Fished it many times. On Dixie Hwy just north or Hillsboro rd there is Pioneer park, I believe it's a public ramp, you can work your way north up the canal. Just north of Glades on NW 4 th is an apartment, I think it's called Cynthia Arms, there is a little cement ramp there. I've parked there many times and no ever says anything. This is directly across the canal from FAU. There is a spillway there, a cement over flow not a lock, one side is fresh water the other is brackish and tidal. I've caught snook, tarpon, bass, jacks, lady fish there.

Peqcocks In Everglades National Park?
I have a canal about a mile from my home that was loaded with peacocks. During the freeze I saw scores and scores of them floating, interesting but I didn't see any dead small ones, only larger ones. That tells me peacocks are still there even though I haven't caught one in this canal. I am catching them in other areas not far from my home but from shore it isn't easy and sight casting has produced the majority of them.

Why Do You Fish What You Fish?
Well it's summer here in South Florida which means I don't target bass at all. I am fishing for peacock bass nearly everyday, despite the fact I have caught them on a wide variety of lures over the years I'm only 1 lure now. Not only is this lure as successful as anything else I've used, I'm making them myself so there is a reward factor. I probably have 10-12 made up, but always making new ones with different materials and profiles. They don't catch any more fish but it's a labor of love.
