Tournament Wins & Taxes
I don' have the exact answer but an email to the irs and state would yield the correct answer, or your CPA. Perhaps if one held a commercial fishing license, if one doesn't it's a moot point. Probably most would be filing single or jointly if married and not file a schedule C, your 1099's would be included with your other 1099's or w-2's and you would be entitled to deduct allowable deductions, interest, charities , etc. But it brings us back to the beginning, are fees, gas, tackle, boat depreciation, travel expenses, repairs, etc etc., allowable for a recreational fisherman who just happens to win some money. I'm going to make an uneducated guess.......NO. All that said, you can deduct whatever you want, as long as it doesn't get audited, lol.

How Many Miles Does Your Ride Have?
I've bought quite a few used med duty and hvy duty trucks as well as a hi-lo, only my first car in 1961 (57 ford) was bought used. I had a 3 day old 92 eldorado that was hit head on, insurance co fixed it instead of totaling it out, once I got the car back I traded it in, didn't want a car with a frame that was straightened.

Rod Lure Rating And Action???
As far as memory serves the only rods I've come across without a lure rating are some offshore rods, my Shimano tallus , Star handcraft, and Hurricane Redbones only list line wt. not lure weights. Although I would not be surprised if other manufacturers of offshore rods list all the specs.

Buffs
Mine is treated with insect shield, I seldom wear it, it's too hot and my glasses fog up. On a cool morning it does a nice job as a neck scarf.

Thermostat Setting
The location of thermostat has a bearing on where I set it, ours is in a hallway so it's regulated to the temperature of that area. Heat settings and a/c for us are totally different, heat is seldom used we keep it around 75, a/c is set about 79 and even with 90+ days and high humidity it's quite comfortable. I put little emphasis on the actual reading or setting of thermostat, I don't think they are too accurate, it's just a guage.

How Many Miles Does Your Ride Have?
Being in the metals business I've had quite a few trucks that were always busy on the road and took a beating, but that is what they are designed for. Glad I don't have to pay to fix them anymore, overhauling a Mack diesel ain't cheap, lol. When it comes to my personal every day vehicles, I don't want a lot of miles on them. My wife could care less about a car, an accord or camry is her choice and she puts low mileage, she keeps them about 7 years and may have 50,000. For me being in or around trucks all day I want to be in a luxury car and get a new one about every 2 years, mileage seldom exceeds 30-35k, at present I have a 2012 Genesis, very well built car, I do miss my rag tops.

Saltwater Spots Southeast Florida
Sheepshead are hot now, but it's an entirely different kind of fishing, which isn't for me and I don't do it. People fish with tree crabs, and a few other baits I can't remember, they just lean over the side and soak em. People love eating them, we have a couple from Ohio that come every year and stay for 3 months and fish sheepshead everyday and they take home hundreds, there's a plot to lynch them too lol. I would make my main emphasis on lmb, you're on vacation so you will have a better chance of catching something. I would not eliminate doing some saltwater, if you happen to connect with something good, it's going to give you the kind of thrill you only see on televison.

Ot: Moving To Miami. Where To Live?
Our first place, 1982-1995 was a snowbird condo was on Biscayne Blvd. & near where the Aventura mall is today, on a saltwater lagoon that fed into the ICW. Snook, tarpon, jacks, right out my back door.

This Really Irritates Me.
What is more amazing than misspelling a word is leaving it without correction. As spell check is enabled only one's laziness shines through. Words like to, too and two will slip by as they are spelled right just used in the wrong context, luckily I stayed awake in class.

Reel Handle Grips
In defense of RW, as a moderator he should be promoting the sponsors, they pay for the site, but the members are what makes BR fly and without us there would be no sponsors or Bass Resource. Back on topic, I'm satisfied with stock grips on bass sized reels as long as they are still tacky. My larger reels both spinning and conventional come with larger handles already, which I really like. I've never liked metal handles and some of the more expensive reels still use them and I don't like the round eva grips either, but that is something I may just have to get used to.

Ot: Moving To Miami. Where To Live?
Miami and Miami Beach are not the same city, many non Floridians are not aware of that. I live in Palm Beach County and wished I lived near or around Miami Beach. I personally enjoy a more diverse area and I like the Latin influence, it's like being on vacation everyday. South Florida roads are inadequate for the population explosion, where ever you may be the driving times might be longer than what you are used to. Your dogs could be a problem, I might be looking as rural as I could get, as mentioned many HOA's don't allow dogs like that, certainly not in a country club community, they have small yards anyway. Being a fishing forum, the fishing in that part of Florida excels, just so many varieties of fish and in close proximity to the keys, no place I'd rather fish.

Saltwater Spots Southeast Florida
SW fishing in Palm beach county is very slow this time of year, and this year seems to be exceptionally slower than most other years. I do know they are doing well an hour or 2 north. They are catching some small bluefish sporadically in the afternoons in the ( ICW) Lake Worth area using cut bait. No where is more true that only 10% of the water has fish than in saltwater, fish almost always follows bait, and if there is no bait around, not likely too many fish around. Bait and wait, you never know.

Brand Loyalty
Brand loyalty may be using something second best with out ever realizing it. As far as rods and reels go I don't have any qualms about experimenting, have had both plus and minus experiences by doing so.

Gas Prices On The Rise Again
Stock market rises and the price of oil usually follows, the market is near 14000. I don't like paying more out of pocket than I have to but a rise in investments easily pays for it. It's when the investments decrease in value and gas goes higher is when I don't like it, glad to say that is not the case at present. Oil is sold on the world market, and the rules of supply and demand prevail. Less supply for the demand and prices increase, and more supply than the demand and it goes down, that's it in it's simplest form. Homes in the Hamptons and taxes have little bearing, with oil subsidies big oil corporations wind up paying very little tax in relationship to the amount of profits. The USA is importing the least amount of oil in decades and what we do import the majority comes from Canada and Mexico. I've read somewhere that the USA is poised either to be the 2nd largest oil producer or 2nd largest exporter, don't remember which offhand. After reading that I feel like I should go out and buy more ammo. lol One of the largest growth in and expansion of the middleclass occurred in the 1950's, some be in shock when the discover what the tax rates were then.

Is There Something Wrong With My Ipad?
Apple has it's following, it's almost cult like. Every time I've been at an Apple store it's jam packed with people, and on a new product release people line up around the block before the stores open. I don't think my 17 yo is too different, he gets the new i product as it's released even though one the last generation has been barely used lol.

Brand Loyalty
Always willing to take a chance on something different, it's only a rod or reel. Sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised and other times I've been disappointed, the reputation of the manufacturer may not coincide with my findings. Value can play a part, I won't spend in excess of $100 for a rod or reel when to catch 5 or 6# fish, I can't see the point to that. I will spend over $200 for each if I'm targeting fish that have a good possibility to run over 50#, that said I've been disappointed in that price range too. As far as just catching them, I could use a barbie rod with my mother's old garter belt, probably catch as many and be as happy.

Best Line For Spinning
Braid on spinning almost all the time, my exceptions are not done in freshwater. I should be buying larger spools than 300 yds, as I go thru a lot of braided line. I'll add what I need for a freshwater reel, but in saltwater it's a complete respool with fresh line and I don't use backing. Just the way I do it, I want my line as perfect as it can be. I've only used a couple of brands that didn't appeal to me, I mostly buy PP I can easily get it anywhere.

Big Time Sports Vs Fishing
Sunday is a tv day for me, as always I'm at the ocean for a few hours then I make sure I'm home by 9:00, I watch a few of the non football Sunday shows. I'll go out to my backyard canal for some bass fishing from about 11-1, then it's football the rest of the day.

Is There Something Wrong With My Ipad?
BR did not work well with my last android using gingerbread, I have a new one using ICS and the BR site works perfect in every respect. I'm sure other OS systems do this as well, my android is synced to my pc's bookmarked web sites, anything I do internet related is great. I'm not so excited to upgrade to Jellybean, this OS is working just fine.

$100+ Spinning Reels
Both Jose Wejebe ( RIP) and Larry Dahlberg are sponsored by Shimano and only using the most top of the line rods and reels, and is it out of pocket money for them? KVD does not use Shimano and at present is the most notable bass fisherman alive. It's true in many cases, but not always, that a slightly larger reel is used, that being a 4000 compared to a 2000. The reason is simple, more line capacity if we need it, better line management due to a larger spool and I like the balance on the rods better. As we are setting our drags based on our line the size of the reel isn't all that relevant. My two cuda outfits are a 5000 arbor about 12 oz with about 100 yds or so of 14# mono, and cabo 30 that holds about 110 yds of 20# braid, certainly not big reels. I know a lot of people liken a muskie to a barracuda, catch a 40" + then give me a report, you just may reevaluate your thoughts. And just how many of those 30# muskies does a person catch a year using a 300 calcutta and 80# braid, probably not too many. I do realize perch and walleye are very formidable species, having lived in Michigan for nearly 60 years, I've caught my share and boy did they beat the crap out of me, I can't wait to go back and catch a 15" perch, maybe a charter for some of those bulldogs, I can see where I might need a Sustain and a NRX. I'm not saying Shimano is a bad reel, but in the sub $200 price range they don't seem to stand up as well as some other brands, Penn is the predominate brand down here. Would I buy a Shimano for perch or bass, sure I would as long as it was less than $100, if I spent more, I'd go in for a psychological evaluation.
