What Really Grind Your Gears
A huge difference between begging and needing support. I fully support and will say a prayer! I submit that P.E.T.A. wasn't the problem.

I Need Help!!!!
Nothing wrong with Okuma spinning reels, but an ABF is not the best choice for repetitive cast and retrieve, it's meant to be used more with bait than lures, not that you can't use it for both. The function of a bairunner is to allow the fish to run with the bait before setting the hook, quite similar to having your drag very loose. The 50 and 65 size is way too much reel for bass fishing, baitrunners are very commonly used in saltwater, especially off piers. Baitrunners as a rule are heavier than than traditional spinning reels. I don't recommend specific brands, most inexpensive bass size reels will function just fine, but don't expect them to last a lifetime. Be true to your budget.

What To Eat While Fishing
@ Fishes It would appear you're a type 2 diabetic, so am I. Medication and diet generally make type 2 manageable. Personally I would see a diabetic specialist, most have a nutritionist on staff. The right diet is essential, a proper balance of carbs, protein, and fats, more important than just reducing your carb intake. Within a reasonable amount of time my cholesterol went from 257 to125, my BP now averages 120/70, my a1c went from 14% to 6.I%, and my energy level and strength are restored...........I owe it all to my wife. This is a serious disease, don't take it lightly and don't get lax when you see improvement

What To Eat While Fishing
Small meals or snacks every few hours is the healthiest way to eat, increases your metabolism plus an energy boost. Dinner the night before an outing I make sure not to eat food with too much sodium, same goes for breakfeast, no ham, bacon or sausage, increases thirst. I avoid taking any soft drinks that contain sugar or artificial sweeteners, again it increases thirst. Being thirsty and needing to hydrate are 2 different issues, for me 1-2 bottles of water is sufficient, it doesn't have to be cold for me. Being a diabetic I watch what I eat. A good size bowl of the lowest carb cereal and a couple of slices of low sodium cheese for breakfeast. I take 1 or 2 energy bars with me, again the ones lowest with the lowest carbs and highest protein. I'll pack a PB &J sandwich on low carb bread with sugar free jelly or jam. I require less water to swallow a sandwich with jelly, my water is basically to keep me hydrated and my body tells me when I need it. I eat no junk food.

Anyone Really Familiar With Bps Trade In During Classic?
In Ft Lauderdale, reel trade in 2/24-2/29, rods 3/2-3/6.

Jerkbait Fishing
I agree with Fishes in and Trees and Nitrofreak, main difference for me, my Florida canals and ponds are shallow and I work not to far out from the shoreline. I too move baits with my rod, so gear ratio and ipt are not important to me. I swim against the current on this one, I wouldn't use b/c gear for freshwater fish.

Spring Has Sprung
I think you can get by with a 2000 or 3000 size reel, but I prefer that size from the beach. The platform is much lower than a jettie but personally I think a 4000 reel on a mh 10/20 rod is a better set up. I got this one moring on the jettie, barely got it in with a 4000 mh rod. More important than drag often times is line capacity.

Why Are The Trades Being Forsaken?
Success is the journey, not the destination. Love what you do and you're a success, hate it and you're a failure, the money is incidental. No sense in rehashing my trek thru life........I did it, nuff said, being a "junk man" wasn't all bad, I loved it.

Spring Has Sprung
There are a number of reasons why I don't have a kayak or a small skiff, if I did I know plenty of places to catch some real quality fish right in the ICW minutes from where you and I live. Many kayakers go offshore and butterfly jig, gotta be young with a strong back for that stuff. FYI, April 29 will be the opening of the new fishing platform at snook islands, which is at the west side of the Lake Worth bridge. This is an excellent fishery, snook islands are man made. I personally have fished it from the golf course, snook, jacks, tarpon and some redfish, bring your A game. Indiantown rd is the Jupiter inlet, a lot of snook there, plenty of mangroves off the the tribs and you can launch a kayak from there beach there. A 100 yds offshore in 15-20 feet of water is prime cobia fishing, bluefish, spanish macks, cuda and lots more.

In my experiences with customer service, Pure Fishing is light years ahead of any other company. Fast and much of the time they don't charge.

Looking For Peacocks
I've caught a few peas in the Delray, Boynton area, small fish, for bigger peas you have to get to the Miami area. I have fished western Broward, have yet to catch one over 2-3 lbs. For pure fishing fun, it's hard to beat Jack Crevelles, they can be had minutes from where you live, these fish can run from 1/2 lb to 40#.

Spring Has Sprung
Let me know what kind of fish he's into catching. Just like freshwater fishing, the available access to saltwater has become limited from shore, the options seem to be lessening day by by day. I'd probably wait until the bait starts running, it's still tough going, you gotta be a die hard salty now. I have spots that I go to where about any kind of technique can be used, from bottom bouncing like for bass, to most kinds of lures, and bait fishing kicks butt.

Spring Has Sprung
This has been a very dismal winter for saltwater fishing in s/e Florida, very tough going. Within in the last week or 2 I'm starting to catch a few fish, nothing great as far as size and numbers, but there is a ray of optimism now. I've caught 3 or 4 small snook, couple tarpon, few small jacks( even off the beach) and some barracuda, Saturday we caught small kings and cobia offshore.

Which Retirement Scenario Would You Choose? Why?
See an expert, on line quarterbacking isn't the way to go. Government index regarding inflation is anything but accurate, it never has and never will be. 90K today could be 45k in 10 years and 22k in 20 years, as far as purchasing power. The question for any retiree is " Am I going to outlive my money"? I had a group plan for my wife and I that I started in 1996, cost was $338 per month, 7 years later when I had to terminate the plan ( retirees no longer qualified) my rate had jumped to $1200 per month, very good plan, but no dental or optical, Michigan B/x. Moving to Florida we discovered the rates are significantly higher here and the coverage is poor in comparison to the Michigan plan we had. I'm on medicare, my wife gets on next year......ask anyone who is on it. Medicare is great, but even now some changes are taking place.

Fore go a line to leader knot, use a swivel to attach your leader. I only tie on leaders for specific species, lmb are not one of them.

Which Retirement Scenario Would You Choose? Why?
Not being a financial planner I would't give on line advice, quite often free advice is worth what you pay for it. What I would say is, medical coverage is a major concern, good heath today is no guarantee for the future, not only for you but your family too.

Snakeheads
I went to Boca a few days ago still haven't seen one, guess I have the wrong spots. I've got about 2-3 weeks left for freshwater fishing, maybe I'll score.

Waypoint App On The Iphone 4S
Try this : http://transition.fc...SS-decimal.html then just put the 38° 56' 24.8202" -77° 46' 47.3088" into google Don't know about an iphone , but my smartphone will give the location and map it for you (enable gps), without any need for an app. Another way is take a picture of the location, make sure gps is enabled on your smartphone. Open the picture with a " GPS photo extractor, sorry I can't find the web site at the moment, This would be if you loaded your pic into your computer at home. Smart pones recorded all exif data including location. Another option, google has an exif extracter you can load into chrome browser, just run your mouse over a picture on google and the location will be displayed, if gps was enabled on the original pic, works great. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/nchnjcdahncnilbicljpnbfobpnljnki A number of easy options.

Bass Pro Spring Classic Flyers, did You Get Yours?
I'm interested in a Shimano Terez rod, call first to see if they have them in stock and take advantage of a rod trade in. If not in stock I won't drive down there, I won't buy a rod sight unseen on line, without putting my reel on it.

Spinning Reel For 6'6" Veritas
Buy within your budget, you have the rest of your life after you get established to buy higher end equipment. Any reel from 60-$100 is going to be fine, buy one that's eye friendly, and feels good on your rod, don't over think it.

Does Anyone Still Use Short Rods?
I use 6'6 and 7' for bass, quite comfortable. On occasion I'll use a 7'6 or 8' rod because I'm on my way home from the ocean that's what I have with me. It's awkward at first, but a few minutes into fishing I become used to it, I like a long butt on my rods.
