You Like Olive Garden?
Olive Garden is palletable, but it isn't Italian, it's Italian style. There are few if any northern Italian dishes served and O.G. has no idea of what a quality fillet marinated in " zip sauce" is. For a great Italian meal, quality ingredients and top notch chefs make the difference. Haven't had an outstanding Italian meal since I left Detroit, it's non existent in South Florida regardless of the price of the meal.

Enough Trivia. Let's Discuss Something Really Important.
Diabetes made me give up pop and I don't miss it at all. My adult beverages are consumed neat or on the rocks, never with a mix. I only drink low carb beer now and it really isn't too often.

How To Edit And Erased Friends On Facebook?
If I'm not mistaken all profiles will be converted to the timeline format, I think I read March 17, but not sure offhand. I'm not quite used to timeline yet, but I don't spend much time on other peoples profiles. I really do enjoy my news feeds and that's what I pretty much focus on.

Where Is The Last Place You Expected To See What It Is You Saw?
Without a doubt ! Our first condo was 10 minutes from South Beach in 1982, before it got "hot". My wife and I love just love South Beach, Hollywood Beach (in Florida) is pretty good too. Once we hit 60, we gave up on Haulover, lol.

S/e Florida Report
There isn't much action at Snook Islands until bait starts showing up, It's all about tide and bait. Fishermen using cut or live bait can see some activity but this time of year is a slow go. As a rule outgoing tide is best, look for ambient light and the snook like to stay in the shadows and ambush, certain aspects of snook fishing are very similar to bass fishing. Work the structure along side of bridge pylons and cast along the sea wall, you can walk it about 1/2 of a mile there.

S/e Florida Report
We had a very quiet day, first light NW wind and calm, wind shifted due east at 9:30, seas picked up to 4'. One undersized cobia and 2 gag grouper, good sized but a closed season for that species.

Fishing To Eat From The Shore
Your fishing license allows you to keep a legally caught fish, whether you eat or release it, it's your business. I personally release freshwater fish in Florida, that was not always the case when I lived in Michigan. walleye, trout, salmon quite often found our table. My dad also owned a fish market, we ate a lot fish, I cleaned so many I got tired of it and eating fish too. Living in a coastal area just about everyone has a cooler with them, we keep quite a few of the species. I personally do not keep snook, some people love to eat them and I don't. Snook are my bass, I release them all to catch another day, gimme a redfish and I'm gonna keep that sucker.

What's Wrong With Quantum?
I don't disagree with anything said about buying foreign products. The reality is this, a good portion of American Companies don't care about putting people to work, their priority is profits and making money for their investors. Just approaching this from a business standpoint, if companies can produce products cheaper in another country, then that's what they are going to do. Consumers want the best product at the best price, whether it's fishing gear, a screwdriver or, a no.2 leaded pencil, that's human nature. The point is buying products from companies outside the United States, communist or not reduces American manufacturing jobs. Being true to the conviction of supporting American labor, Shimano and other foreign products would be eliminated from many people's arsenal, doesn't seem to be the case. I'd love to see my stradics made here, but I doubt that will happen. It's a good product and that's why I own it.

Anyone Else Have This Problem With The A-Rig
@ Mumpy...... I don't throw a-rigs but I throw cuda tubes( they weigh about 1.5 oz) with spinning all the time, they hang up just like an a -rig will. As Francho said, close the bail a split second before the lure hits the water, this eliminates the problem most of the time. When the lure hits the water it's straight, preventing the hooks from wrapping around the line.

S/e Florida Report
I went to the Snook Islands this morning in Lake Worth, they did a great job with the fishing pier. It isn't a pier, it's only about 6-8' above the water depending on the tide. I was there at 5:am, looks like they keep it open 24 hrs, no action as no bait is around this time of year and it was incoming tide. The fishing deck extends all the way to the middle of the ICW, that's a long way, and from personal experience I know there are monster fish there. They have installed a kayak launch which is great asset, also built is a large floating dock with 3 bays, a great place to fish right at waters level. I thought the railings were too high, but every 15-20 yds the rail is cut down to waist level, makes a decent casting area. For me this will be a nice addition to my fishing locations, but it will be crowded later in the day and on weekends, I'm usually snook fishing at 4 or 5 am, so I'm usually alone. All in all I think they did a good job..........this is prime snook, tarpon water and I understand some redfish there but I never hooked one in Lake Worth. I stopped by a small canal on the way home, bass were hot, caught 4 about 2# each in minutes, I've been doing real well with in line spinners.

Tim Tebow & Taylor Swift
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, I think she's cute. I'm not a fan of C &W music, but I do recognize and respect her accomplishments. How many of us have reached a loftier plateau at such a young age? As far as Tebow goes, like him or not, he's a starting QB in the NFL, that's a pretty good accomplishment too.

S/e Florida Report
Over the last 10 days or so bass have been pretty good, 3-5# not uncommon. Have done some snakehead fishing too. Inshore fishing is still slow, a few smaller than slot being caught on artis, bait fishermen are doing well. Offshore, when you can get out, has been fair to good, cobia is the hot ticket, we have several in the 40# range. We have caught peanut dolphin and small kings. All real nice fighting gamefish and excellent table fare.

What's Wrong With Quantum?
My stradics are made in Malaysia, not Japan. My Penns are made in China and every bit as good as my stradics. My Quantum Cabo is on a par with both Penn and my Shimanos and they aren't made in Japan. My Sorons are the smoothest of the entire bunch and they are made in China. I like my Shimano equipment, but I like the other brands equally as well. I have an American made Avet, is it better than it's Chinese counterpart, I doubt it.

No Place Like Home
I must have driven 200+ miles in the last few days bass and snakehead fishing, didn't have very good outings. Then I come home to my home turf and land this one in minutes and hooked bigger yesterday pm, lost it on the jump.

Smoke Or Other Spinning Reel For Around $150?
I do not feel my 2 stradic fi 4000's are over rated, very good reels, however in that price range I have reels that perform on a par with the stradics. I haven't used the c-14, but handled it at bass pro, the traditional stradic is more appealing to me.

Fishing After Rain
In Florida, at least for me, the opposite is the problem, too hot and buggy for bass fishing. I fish the "hot bite", bass in winter and early spring, inshore species the rest of the year. Florida rule of thumb " When bass turn on the snook turn off and when the snook turn on the bass turn off".

Has Anyone Used A Jig Like This?
Down here they are called banana jigs. They catch snapper, mackerel and lookdowns (aka moonfish), work great tipped when tipped with bait.

What Really Grind Your Gears
My gears are grinding about freshwater fishing in South Florida. No, it isn't the fish, it's the filth! I have been doing quite a bit of freshwater fishing lately, much of it in Broward county, and these canals are disgusting. Muck and algae are one thing to contend with, not that I really enjoy that either, but the amount debris is just terrible, takes the joy out of fishing for me. No fish is worth the effort if I have to deal with that crap. Fishing freshwater in Michigan was a pleasure, shore or boat, the lakes I fished were clean.

If You Have A Daughter That's Starting To Date...
In my part of Florida, in the warmer months, the kids are on the beach, in the bushes or under a pier with a blanket. Weekends look like an orgy.

When A Fish Jumps
Being a recreational fisherman, I'm looking for a fun time, I don't care how big the fish is I'm hoping it's jumping, that's what I'm there for. I lost a real nice one yesterday on the jump, didn't really care I was going to release it anyway, fish wasn't gut hooked and none the worse for wear. To me that's success, I hooked it and had the pleasure of a nice battle. I put little emphasis on weights and pictures, a good fish is always win win for me, whether I've touched it or not. Fishing for tarpon, has taught me how to handle jumping fish much better, if I choose to land them I stand a pretty decent chance, that said no person alive lands them all. As said, low rod tip and a tight line is the key to landing any jumping fish.

If You Have A Daughter That's Starting To Date...
Kids are no different today than kids anytime in recent history, they have raging hormones. Anything short of imprisoning them and fitting your daughter with a chastity belt is an exercise in futility, they will always find a way..........we did ! We raised 2 daughters, both over 40 now, married and I have 5 gr children. We never imposed restrictions and we let them map their own course in life for establishing their own personal values. Not that the road was always smooth, but in the end they turned out to be wonderful wives, great parents with good solid careers of their own choice. My wife did one hell of a great job in educating those kids. How they raise their kids is their business, we do not butt in.
