How Do I Cast Farther
If you are fishing open water you do not need heavy line to land bigger fish. Pulling fish through cover requires a heavier set up. A good chance if you are lacking distance your rod is not loading up, try a split shot or 1/8-1/4 oz egg weight.

What Do You Hold Onto That You Know Is Obsolete?
I'm hanging on to the thought that I can land just about anything with spinning gear, still doing too.

Fishin' Photo's = A Lot Of Work
Many of my photo worthy fish are caught at night, caught when I'm alone, caught on land where shleping a tripod is cumbersome. Many of the offshore fish are very active once on board, taking a pic of 40# amberjack on 23' boat can be hard to handle, I'm not doing much in the way photos unless the fish is really special.

"dark" Fishing
Hard to beat this for a few bucks, more light than a headlamp. I've had other brands that don't last long, this one has been with me for 3+ years, still perfect. I got mine at Walmart for less than 5.00, not sure if they still carry it. http://www.batteries...rrityk035g.html

"dark" Fishing
Most days I'm fishing 2-3 hours before sunrise, small flashlight hanging from my neck for knot tying and unhooking. Other than that I do not like a lot of light, like from a lantern, I see pretty well in the dark.

Casting Arm Pain
I have that item and others brands similar. They curtail the pain during the activity but does not heal , only time and not doing the activity that aggravated is the cure. I used to get pain frequently in both elbows from golf , I get it from fishing too but not repetitive casting, mine comes from catching pelagic species. Repetitive casting often times makes the muscles on the sides of my back very sore..it's a ***** being old........lol.

Bedding Bass
I pretty much leave bedding bass alone. I've seen some bedding this week, threw a few casts and moved on. Since I focus on a number of other species, I have no problem leaving them alone.

Wetting The Line?
I don't spit on braid, knots are fine without it. I spit on my leaders before cinching them down, if my hands are wet or very humid out I forego the spitting. I find the " lube" is most important when using over 15 or 20# test, not so much in the lighter lines. I use a lot of 40# leaders, it's a must then.

Job Creation And Economic Recovery
Oil commodities and unleaded gas commodities each have their own market (natural gas and heating oil too in the energy sector), they do not always move in conjunction with each other. That said, the game is rigged so to speak for the world wide consumer. The Keystone pipeline has gotten a lot of controversy, one side of the story says oil doesn't flow until 2030 and the oil is designated to be sold on the world market, mainly to China, affected the pump price no more than a few cents a gallon. Would employ only a few thousand temporary construction workers. It is time for us to conserve, use alternate energy sources, change our mindset about the size of homes we live in, the number of cars in the driveway and how much fuel is needed to operate them, and a modern electrical grid. We need a responsible energy policy that has not been in place for decades. Energy is a world wide problem, not just an American one. With growing populations the need for more energy increases daily. This is a simple matter of supply and demand, unless the world changes the way we live, what we use for energy, and the price of energy, the chance of survival in the long run just isn't there. The major energy companies have to work with the major countries to find and implement solutions. I do agree with slonezp about rewarding yourself, and I'm no different. In my household we had cars for me, my wife, each of the 2 kids had car, plus a "Sunday" sports car for me. We had a 34' pleasure boat on Lake St Clair, I was never so happy when the kids got too old to go, I got rid of it....lol, then fished from a rowboat.

Job Creation And Economic Recovery
What goes up always comes down, and gas will, when I don't know. Speculation, oil being sold on the world market, unrest in the middle east, China, Brazil, India's robust thirst for oil, all contribute to higher prices. In Europe you would be paying twice the price as we do here, although a good portion of their gas taxes go for education and healthcare. We pay less for gas but more for education and health so maybe in total dollars it's a wash. Cars today get twice the mileage, adjusted for inflation we probably pay less to drive a mile than in years past. In 1970 cars got about 8-10 mpg, income was about $7500 year, gas was around .40 a gallon. A dollar bought 2 gallons and 20 miles, today inflation adjusted $10 dollars buys 2 gallons and gets you over 40 miles. The first commercial trucks I owned got 2-4 mpg, once fuel injection was introduced the same sized trucks were getting 6-8 mpg. I don't think there is any doubt that lower pump prices will give the average person more disposable income that will be filtered into the economy. This has been a sluggish recovery, considering how bad it was I'm not surprised it's taking this long, but it has improved and will continue to do so. Look at how long the Great Depression lasted, we could have been there again.

Backing For Braid
Way I've been doing it for years........I've learned more about fishing from Jose than anyone, no one explains things better,............he is the MAN !

Pond Fishing
If there is fish, any kind of plastic worm and inline spinners will work very well in community ponds.

Permit
The short answer is depends on how involved the business is. If for example a gas station sells some basic hooks, spoons and misc terminal tackle along side the potato chips, most likely no permit or license would be required, however if they sold live shiners the answer would most likely be yes, that said regulations may vary from state to state, county to county and city to city. A check with your city, county and state should be on your to do list.

How Much Did You Spend At The Bass Pro Spring Classic?
Zero, didn't go. Wasn't worth 80 mile round trip for me, I didn't need anything that I can't buy around here for the same price.

Catch And Release? What Are Your Thoughts?
If someone feels the need to pull a gun, then do it, but make sure you are prepared to use it, the tresspasser may be more prepared to use his than you are. Better make sure you are in the legal right too, It isn't worth the risk to me over a fish. If the police in your area are not responsive, then your police department isn't doing their duty. Where I live in Palm Beach County, the sheriff's department responds as quick as possible to phone calls. Problems arise, I'd always let the police handle it.

What Bad Trait Or Habit Did You Pick Up From Your Parents?
I didn't realize how much I idolized my father until he passed away. He had some bad habits and so do I, I focus on the positive, not the negative. My dad and I spend a lot time together fishing, that's when he prepped me for life and was he ever right, at the time I thought he was nuts. The most important thing I learned, looking for excuses is a road to failure, achievers do something about a bad situation and then succeed. He was a child of the Great Depression, that says it all, compared to him I had it easy.

Driving While Distracted
South Florida is very congested, most roads have a bike lane next to the curb. The bike lanes are used by scooters both by seniors and disabled people, runners and walkers in the middle of the night with no reflective clothing and totally oblivious to what's going on around them. The reason they use the bike lanes instead of the sidewalk are because of the "cracks" every 6' for another slab of concrete. They aren't the worst at paying little attention to what's going, the bikers are. In Florida, by law, we share the road with them, 2 bikers side by side in their lane and motorists must yield 3' distance from them. That 3' puts a car over the double yellow center line, a traffic violation for a car, but making the situation worse is that always one or two riders, in their Tour de France costume, have to pedal in the middle of the motorists lane. Backing up traffic and when you are finally able to pass them, they give ya a look like you're invading their turf and cars don't belong on the road.

Clinch Knot
Just about any knot tied properly should hold. The majority of my fishing is in saltwater, I do not use flouro at all just braid and mono, my knots are clinch, improved clinch and a loopknot, quite honestly the strength of these knots are not a concern to me. I use the identical knots for my freshwater bass fishing, again with no concern, they work excellent. For the rare occasion when I tie leader to line the alberto is a great choice.
