  1. Fishing a lure away from trouble may curtail the effectiveneess of that particular lure, not much sense in owning it,if afraid to use. I've walked in the water many times to get a $3.00 lure, because it catches lots of fish. I'm not familiar with most lures used today, Walmart don't carry them.
  2. In other parts of the world, not uncommon for men of influence to have a mistress, it's accepted behavior. I've not read of any national secrets or classiied information passed on due to Ashley Madison website. This story is really not a big deal, except what may come home to roost for some men and women. So far no one has given up the codes on the nuclear football.
  3. If I don't like the depth my lure runs,I'll change lures. Not going to fiddle around with them.
  4. If any one has fished for Kingfish, you would understand what a toothy critter is. You won't have many lures with teeth marks because of the cut offs. They are considered one of the most line shy fish, wire is seldom used for them. Most of what I see is 40-60# mono leaders. Their little bros., Spanish mackerel have the same kind of toothy mouth, but are a smaller fish, the most prolific way to catch them is a small spoon or crappie jig, on a rattling bobber with about 20# f/c leader. Lures become history real quick because of the cut offs...............I don't fish for them too often.
  5. Good point. Might be trouble in River City if some of the wives knew what their hubby's were spending and seemingly paying more attention to a fish than them.
  6. With some species that "run", a fish a cast is quite possible, those runs don't last all day. I don't beleive LMB are one of those species.
  7. My disappointment is to spend way more than I know I need to, then catch sub par fish.
  8. Would I accept a new car making noise......No, I would't with a reel either.
  9. same here. Unleaded gas futures have not come down, but the prediction is for a 20 cent drop. The lack of demand stations are still selling off existing inventory.
  10. Glass is a little clearer but heavier. I wear plastic about the time a scratch or 2 appear it's time for a new script, I wear glasses full time, last 25 years progressive lenses.
  11. I can think of a few scenarios where I use a swivel. Most spoons I use waver back and forth, do not roll over like a drone spoon or j-spoon, a swivel is not needed if they waver like a kroc or jg spoon, loopknot to lure and an Alright line to leader.
  12. I buy most of my essentials at a store. I have a few on line places to buy items I can't find any where else, all I need is Google.
  13. I have a cardinal 6 ( actually a soron 60) about 250 yds of 30# braid, in the 30# drag area I forget, but for bass, no that's a reel I use for kingfish. I grew up in MIchigan, we didn't bass fish that much wasn't that popular. We bass fished when the muskie and pike bite was slow. When I was a kid that was about the time salmon were introduced, we used spinning for everything then and I still do. Using spinning gear is very natural to me. The only 2 problems I encounter with spinning is twist and coil, both easily remedied by using braid. Hardly a day goes by there isn't a thread devoted to a problem people have with b/c, from setting brakes to finesse and power fishing to digging in to lure choices and rod selections, so many others I can't think of because I don't use b/c. Seems like people like to revel in confusion and complication. Take a spinning set up and just go fishing, nothing complicated about it.
  14. Catch worms in your yard for free.
  15. Used to hate November. I shipped 2-3 loads a month to western Pa, hard to get a common carrier. If I did many plants' receiving departments were closed anyway for deer season.
  16. hair blower or fan.
  17. I have 1 tackle bag, used off shore. It's heavy because of the terminal tackle, it' sits on the seat. Walking the bank I carry 2-4 lures in my pocket, doesn't take much effort.
  18. I would never fish with a person, that talks weather or changes lures every 5 minutes and whines about a slow bite. Topics of conversation of rods, reels, lines, lures, and techniques, are verboten, that's like scratching fingernails on a chaulkboard. Above all don't tell me how good your FG knot is with a 15" fish on the line, lol. I want peace and quiet and someone that can keep up with me.
  19. I'm spinning only, even gave up the fly rod which is really the ultimate technique. Most of my fishing inshore, my gear varies depending if I'm fishing a beach, jetty or sea wall. The heaviest I use in 20# braid with 20-20# leader. I load about 260-280 yds with 30# max drag@ about 14 oz, pretty light really., mh rod that handles up to about 3 oz. This is fish specific only, larger jacks and juvenile tarpon. I do use 30# braid with 40# leader offshsore, the fish can get bigger. I have a conventional reel with 30# mono, never use it over my spinning and and 8000 spheros with 17# mono, the reel is ok, line a little heavy, good for drift fishing. In all honesty when I bass fish I don't give much thought to lines, usually it's 10# braid.
  20. I have a couple of brands that I prefer, based on my own track record. If my rods are comfortable, cast well, and handle the species I target, done deal. I pay very little attention to guides, fast or extrast, etc. I spend my time fishin not wishin.
  21. More than not imo a PB or any fish of any species larger than the average one is more coincidence and gettIng lucky. I do believe the better the water the better your luck can be.
  22. I target teeth, don!t use wire because I get less srtrkes. 40# leader for bass? If you put on some kind weight, put it above a swivel or high on the leader. Sounds like the lure is ok in the irts place, best solution use a different lure.
  23. I wouldn't do a thing, sounds good the way it is. If i did I would try a 1/8 oz torpedo trolling sinker, or split shot, even a steel leader will take you deeper, if you crimp it you don't need a snap, nothing really wrong with a premade wire leader and snap. Alter retrieve speed. This is a good newbie question.
