Morals With Rods And Reels
As long as I comply with policies any store have put into place to make doing business with them more attractive I'm doing nothing wrong. I buy want I what, when I want it,or buy nothing if I choose. It's hard to understand how a store is squeezing me, unless I was out of control in the first place, which I'm not. It's easy to blame the lack of will power and common sense on some fictitious demon some called a "bait monkey". What a CEO earns in 5 minutes is between him/her, and the board of directors, not me, I always have the option of shopping elsewhere.

Kingfish
WTG........that's a lot of fish in an outing. Deep water fish, reef fish, you covered a lot of water. It was a comfortable day too, fairly calm and little wind.

Mr Muskie Almost.
Not a fisherman alive that lands every fish, your equipment is more than adequate.

How Important Is Rod/reel Balance?
Most of my equipment is heavier than standard bass gear, I'm so used to it I don't give it a thought. So when I take out my bass gear it feels so light, it's very comfortable to fish with for hours.

Who Have You Passed The Sport On To?
IMO the intent of the original post is trying to pass your love for fishing as a recreational activity to your kids, gr children, good friend, etc. I love talking fishing to anyone even the guy sitting on the edge of the road with a cane pole. I enjoy watching others catch fish as much as I enjoy catching them myself, I get more satisfaction of seeing a newbie catch a great fish. For the times I wish to fish with a more serious attitude I have plenty of places to go where I will be all alone.

The Helen K will supply all the basic terminal tackle, conventional rods & reels too. I like white with red bucktails but I don't think color is that critical, it's bait scent more than anything. I've seen this happen and you really don't want to do this, LEAVE YOUR BASS ROD AND REEL AT HOME !

What Is The Best 7 Foot Spinning Rod For $150 Or Under
Reading the post it appears to me that "backbone" is the issue. Almost any med 7' spinning rod will easily handle fish in excess of 10#, you don't need to spend a $100. I've caught a countless number of fish over 20#, many larger than that on my redbone 8/17, many other good brands as well.

Kingfish
Better hope the weather gets rough, too calm today only 2' waves and no kings boated, 1 cutoff. As I mentioned the hit came from " moving the bait". WE had several commercial guys around us today, they caught nothing, but each and every one hand jigs the line kind of fast.

Summer Job Options
I never viewed any job as a crap job, it earned me an income when I needed it. I did have some that I liked better than others, one of my favorites was stocking shelves at the A& P when I attended the Univ of Mich. Hours were 10pm to 6am, usually worked more than 8 hours and was paid overtime as p/t employees were on an 8 hour day not a 40 hour week, double pay on Sat nite. As a 20 year old kid I had tireless energy and thirst to make money, that carried over into my adult life.

Lakeshore Property
I could think of scores of places without much thought but what comes to my mind is a home on the ocean in Manalpan, Fl. Just a walk across A1A from my front door is the intracoastal where a boat can be docked (can't dock them in the ocean there)and it's just a few minutes to the inlet leading out to the ocean. I would have the beauty of both the ocean and intracoastal plus I could fish both areas as well.

Kingfish
Hope that the water is rough, better for the king bite, I'll be going out again this morning. If you don't mind I'll give you a few tips. Better off using a kin rigs ( 3 trailer hooks chained together, supplied on the boat)circle hooks are not the best, more cutoffs. I often use a spinning outfit putting my sardine on a bucktail, weight can vary. Watch the Captain on the back of the boat, he will always move the bait by gentle jigging or slow reeling in and letting line out, kings are more apt hit on the movement of the bait. DO NOT USE A WIRE LEADER.......they seldom hit. I may take a dolphin home once in a while, I don't too much fish. My dad was in the fish biz so I had my fill of eating them and cleaning them, guys I fish with take almost everything home. BTW if you catch a triggerfish, people seem to rave on how good they taste.

Weights Of Soft Plastics
I think J Francho is right on the money.........As far as I'm, concerned weighing baits is an exercise in futility. For me nothing beats real time on the water experience, but I'm not analytical about any aspect of fishing.........I just catch a lot of them, isn't that the real object

Californa Teachers Tell Kindergarteners 'there Are More Than 2 Genders'.
I have to be objective, the article was written by a conservative writer for a conservative web site. I don't really know what information was covered in the class and how it was presented. I wonder if the writer was actually there, didn't notice any mention that she was, had she been there she may gotten a education. The article screams of biasness, I don't form an opinion until I hear both sides of a story. As far as this topic being presented in a public school maybe not the best idea, but how parents bring up their children at home is their business. At home my wife and I welcomed the opportunity to have these kinds discussions with our kids and now our kids are doing the same with theirs.

Anyone Like Or Dislike Daiwa Tierra Spinning Reels
I have a tierra 3000 I use for inshore use. Fairly smooth, well built, drag is adequate, best feature is that I have NEVER had a wind knot in a years use. I cannot make that claim even about my favorite spinning reels.

Only thing that bothers me is the term single-sex Hawaiian geckos and transgender clownfish.

Spoon
I catch just about everything on spoons, bass are high on that list. Don't recall seeing spoons used to fish with on television shows too often, could be a factor as why people are think they are passe and don't produce. In my neck of the woods a good 90% of the people are tossing spoons.

How Are You Dealing With The Fuel Price's!
Do I believe large corporations are evil, no but they will do whatever they can to maximize their profits and sometimes they can step over the line. Many years ago a CEO of a major restaurant chain called on the phone to set up a meeting as he liked our ideas and wanted to a joint venture, he lived in the same city. After several meetings he was interested and said that he was going to get his real estate people involved to set up locations. That was the last contact with him, a number of months later a few eateries pop up behind our back, idea taken. Illegal.....no, morally wrong.....probably not from his standpoint, but a case of a billionaire taking advantage. I have done business with some very large corporations and know some extremely wealthy people, most don't get that way without stepping on some toes.........they will push the envelope.

I Was Wrong About Shimano Reels (Maybe)
Close guess Penn Conquer 7000 on a Redbone 30lb boat rod, I really like this rod. ( Rod sell for 90-130, the big box store had the wrong bar code on it, 19.95, made it even better ) In all fairness the Penn is about $90 more than the Spheros, but I checked out the Sargossa at the same time, equally priced but opted for the Penn, more drag and lighter, both pretty smooth. The Sargassa is a nice reel too.

How Are You Dealing With The Fuel Price's!
Have read some articles and seen documentaries like "Gashole" that have led me to believe those practices do happen. I would not give out a name based on hearsay.

How Are You Dealing With The Fuel Price's!
For you maybe not, but for the vast majority of people it is. Do the local farms deliver, do you store up enough food to last after harvest time, do you walk to work every single day regardless of weather, does your doctor make house calls, I could go on but if you answered NO to any questions you have a dependency to use gas.
