Favre to retire
I can understand any top tier athlete not wanting to hang it up. If he can win, stay healthy and not hurt the team, I say why not. If he can't then it's time to go.

Credit Cards...
Now you are on the right track, debit cards are ok but do absolutely nothing to raise your FICO score, nothing more important than having good to excellent credit. If I were you, and this is exactly what I do, I would have 4-5 credits cards, as the more credit available to you the higher the FICO score. That said I would make nominal purchases on each one monthly to keep credit history current and always pay in full, never pay interest.....YOU MUST BE DISCIPLINED !!! As a young person I know it's easy to get over extended, make sure it doesn't happen, this is a life decision. Why use a debit card when most credit cards pay some sort of reward, miles for example, maybe debit cards do too but personally I never saw the need for one. FICO has everything to do with credit history, payment history, available credit but little to with income, ideally you want over an 800 score. Just because a card gives you $1000 credit doesn't mean you have to use it all, never reduce the amount of credit, if not used they will automatically reduce it for you, you don't want that.

budget spinning rod
x2. or wait for something used to come by.. Comment wasn't meant specifically regarding Shimano warranty but in general it's a good idea to have one. Warranty or not I don't care to buy anything used. Clarus without doubt, for $80 is doesn't pay to buy used, a lifetime warranty may not be honored without a purchase receipt. iirc , shimano doesnt require a sales receipt when going through them. you may want to double check on that though.

Bird on the end of your line?
Common occurrence down here having birds fly into your line while casting. As mentioned above a towel over their head makes them manageable.

Fishing Rack/Organizer
I have a slat of wood( mine is about 8' length) attached just below ceiling running parallel, rods hang from screw in hooks....10 minute job.

New Spinning reel opinions!
Can't go wrong with a stradic for sure, hate the handle on the c-14. I love my sorons ( cardinal 800 series, same reel) I replaced the handle on my 802 with an 804 handle, perfect fit with a larger handle, it elevated this reel.

necessary salt water shore tackle.
I saltwater fish from shore generally 6 days a week and go offshore once a week, I strictly cast with spinning gear from shore. Most that I know, including myself, just have 1 lure on the rod and a backup in their pocket, don't get too technical, it doesn't make any difference. It's all about fish being in the area, not what you use, if they are there they hit anything. That being said I use 3/4 oz silver spoon about 75% of the time, caught more snook on spoon than anything. Plastics on a jig head are great but too many fish just bite them in half on the first strike, I limit them to snook and tarpon as they have no teeth and inhale just like a bass. Jigs are popular too saltwater ones like a red tail hawk, some jig them others just use a slow retrieve, I fish most everything slow except when I 'm cuda fishing, use 30# wire or just a little piece of piano wire on a spoon. The key isn't the tackle, but finding fish and what the wind and tide is doing. Ideal NE 10-20 mph 2-4 chop coming in, west wind calm seas, stay home or go cuda fishing on the incoming tide. All you need to know. Using bait is another chapter.

"Convenience fee"
I never use automatic withdraw from my checking account to pay anyone, I choose to be in control and pay when I want to. I do pay just about everything on line thru my bank, simple transaction with no fee. This is more convenient for me, I don't care about their convenience and payments are always in time. Why pay more if you don't have to?

Yesterday I was called a wuss ,wimp bass fisherman-
See my avatar. Thats the hardest fighting pound for pound fish swimming. I've caught a ridiculous amount of different species of fish. There is nothing that fights as hard as a Peacock does for it's size. I've heard Smallies are close. I intend to find out about that one of these days. Are you smoking crack? No way in heck does a P'**** out fight a Bonita or many other fish pound for pound. LMB, yes. But not nearly half as many saltwater game fish. Bass'n knows what he is talking about ! To each their own on which fights the best, many opinions are based on the species located in your area. As far as challenge goes and Bass'n would agree, fishing inshore from the beach can be quite challenging, you are not assured you will even get a strike after hours of casting, but I do like the reward when I score. As in any type of fishing, one must be aware of the nuances of your target species and how to " hunt" fish.

You bet power pro is strong
Using your drag effectively one would be amazed at the size of fish that can be handled on relatively light line. On spinning, which is all I use, I generally palm the spool for drag control instead of twisting the knob down.

What have you purchased recently????? 2010
I make 2 types of tubes, 1 is about 18" with 2 or 3 3/0 trebles. The other is 12' or so made with a 12/0 limerick hook( gives it spinning action ). Primarily used for cuda, stripers, kingfish, cobia, I made a smaller version about 8" with a 7/0 limerick hook that I have used successfully for lmb and think it would be a great musky bait. Made from latex surgical tubing and 60#coated wire. Very durable lasts many many strikes.

NY residents (speeding tic ?)
Feel lucky you didn't get a reckless driving ticket. As far as I've been led to believe there is now a national data based and a ticket in any state will appear on your record, that wasn't always the case. Back in the days when I got tickets, haven't one in 10 years, I always fought them, do not let the judicial system intimidate you. Being in RI New York isn't that far away, I think it's worth the trip. You can plead guilty, guilty with an explanation or not guilty and cross examine the officer. Most likely you will lose, but you may get a reduced violation or probation ( no ticket for a year and it's dismissed ). Your at the mercy of the judge or maybe a plea bargain with the Prosecuting Attorney before your case is tried. Your insurance company may go down hard and maybe cancel you, especially if other moving violations on your record, they go back 4 or 5 years not 2.

Yesterday I was called a wuss ,wimp bass fisherman-
I was rolling on the floor when I read this. To be honest I never met a bass fisherman that wasn't a wuss, bass fishing is fun if you don't have anything better to do. You did well to land the fish, most couldn't because they don't know how to, you can't drag a pelagic species like you do a bass. I'll take saltwater any day of the week.

Pfleuger 30 or 35 for Lamiglas Excel 703 (spinning)?
I have both the 30 & 35, the 30 is good for bass. I use my 35 for saltwater, which I do not recommend. The reg supreme is fine for fresh water use. Personally I 'd jump up to a soron 20, better reel than the supreme, I own that as well.

Lightning hit
A pathetically slow morning considering the tide was going out, hit the inlet at 4:00 and fished it till tide change about 5:30, 1 strike and no fish (luckily I caught a small tarpon yesterday). Not ready to go home I tried the beach, west wind and mirror like seas, no bait, not very promising. Water was exceptionally low so I put on a top lure and after about 45 minutes lightning strikes. Got hit so hard that it almost yanked the rod out of my hands. Still not quite light I thought it was a tarpon, jumping like crazy I could only see the silhouette. By the time I get it in the sun is starting to rise and I can clearly see it was a nice cuda, by my footstep it would measure about 40-42" Them cuda can really fight especially on a med rod and small spinning reel. I can recommend a Tsunami airwave inshore rod, really handles the fish.

Deep South FL fishing. Dade/ Broward County
Haven't caught a bass in 3 weeks, not really putting too much effort with the heat, gnats and slow bite. I'm staying busy enough with my snook and tarpon, that being said the incoming tide bite has been terrible so far ( not much bait) but the outgoing tide has been satisfactory. Just been too busy to get up to Hobe Sound, fish are on fire up there.

What your favorite, go 2 Peacock bass lure?
X2 Walmart crappie jigs, 10 for a buck something work very well too.

Hit the window just right
thank you

Loosing fish :(
Fish is getting ready to jump, drop that rod tip down to water level and control the fish. Even with a tight line you are still going to lose jumpers.

For you speeders
Very similar situation as Tokyo Tony, down in the keys passing a slower RV I sped up to 68mph ( on a bridge, passed radar) and after passing I slowed down, once back on land another car pulled me over and issued a ticket. Even though in Florida you can go to school and eliminate ticket, just pay the fine, I went to court. My argument was this: The ticketing officer had no first hand knowledge of any violation, complete hearsay from the radar officer. The ticketing officer had no idea of who was driving the car at the time of the infraction, we could have changed seats as I had a passenger. The ticketing officer was assuming the radar cop had his radar calibrated that day and failed to produce a log confirming at the court hearing. The radar officer radioed ahead and said " white dodge", and at the alleged speed of 68mph not being able to get the actual license plate, without the plate there is no proof positive as many white dodges on the road. I won. Had this not been a blatant speed trap I would have paid the ticket and been done with it. I flew down from Michigan for 3 days, airline ticket hotel 2 rounds of golf and probably spent $1500......more than ticket, but no points, this was purely principal.
