  1. A wife being the romantic sort, sent her husband a text if you are sleeping, send me your dreams. If you are laughing, send me your smile. If you are eating, send me a bite. If you are drinking, send me a sip If you are crying, send me your tears. I love you! The husband's reply, I'm on the toilet. Please advise.
  2. I did this pre Talon and Ipilot but I still keep 2 anchors with 100' of rope each on board because you never know. If I'm on a river I will just connect the carabineer to the bow eye and leave the excess in the water If I'm on a lake I still connect the carabineer to the bow eye but if I have too much rope, I may pull 10 or 20 feet and then wrap a cleat and keep the excess slack in a neat pile on deck.
  3. Yeah, It's called a Power Pole LOL. You can tie off on a cleat or the bow eye. I have a carabineer attached to the anchor rope. ( a real carabineer, not the keychain type) Clip it on the bow eye and I can shorten it if needed by wrapping excess line around the cleat.
  4. There is a series of videos on youtube about what it takes to be an elite. 70k a year is the break even point. There is less than 15 elites making over 100k a year fishing. If you are not independently wealthy, you will starve without sponsors. We just had the jersey discussion at the dock this past tourney. My sons buddies had jerseys bought for them from the bar they frequent. The bar's name is dead center across the front and back. They had a handful of logos on the jersey, one of which they pro staff for. The rest because they wanted to look cool They didn't hear the end of it from the guys, and the ribbing got worse after weighing in 2 fish. I'd be surprised if they wear the jerseys to the next tourney. To the OP, Good luck with your quest for free gear. May I suggest you look for local business' to sponsor you. We've got guys with boats wrapped with local business' and sports teams logos. You get to look cool and they get a tax write off. You might even get them to flip for a tourney or two.

After reading this, I'm convinced they put sweet tarts in the water in the south.
  12. Why do you "need" sponsors?
  13. If you don't like it, save up for a boat. That way you can fish wherever you want and not blame someone else because you were unable to catch a limit.
  14. Black will be too hot, white will be cooler but may reflect the sun in your eyes, tan is a good compromise.
  15. You forgot #1 which is only achievable with the rest of the items on your list. Time on the water. Our odds of the "trophy" or "stellar" day(s) increase each day we are out. Here's how I do the math http://youtu.be/cUusX1Js6R0
  16. The Triton tins come off the same assembly line as the Ranger. They are slightly different and slightly less expensive. Might be worth a look as well

  18. Guys in my parts target gars using a piece of rope as a lure. Their teeth get tangled in the rope and they can't get free.
  19. 6ga wire is all you need. As far as batteries, group size is the physical dimension. Base that on what will fit in the tray/battery compartment? The higher the reserve capacity, the longer the battery will last before it discharges. There are a ton of different brands @ a ton of different prices. I've had good luck with Interstate, and Cabelas brands. A lot of guys like DieHards, or Wallyworld, or you can go with an AGM. If you get the AGM, make sure the charger is AGM compatible

  22. Merc has fuel additives that will improve engine performance. They recommend Quickleen in every tank.
  23. If you have a Merc SS prop it may have vent plugs, you can remove them 1 at a time and test your on plane time.
