3 things I'm looking for when I prefish. 1.Finding fish-Find a limit, find a kicker, find a spot to upgrade. If I find one or two keepers at a spot, I move on to the next. No sense in staying since you already know they are there. 2.Finding a pattern-Find a general pattern. This may change depending on differences in weather conditions from prefish and T day. On T day, the fish should still be in the vicinity of where you caught them during prefish, but you may need to adjust presentation depending on fronts that have moved in or out. 3.Not finding fish. -Not finding fish allows me to eliminate non productive water on T day which makes for better time management.

At or near the battery. Here's a pic of one on amazon. All you would have to do is cut the red wire in the middle. Strip both ends. Attach one end to the graph +(red) wire using a butt connector and some shrink tubing. Attach a ring connector large enough to fit around the battery terminal to the other end and connect to battery. Why not both? Paper maps are an invaluable tool even with the advent of electronics.

Will be used for a 998SI and a 858HD. Which do you like better and why? My home water(s) is offered on both cards so coverage is not an issue at this time. Also is the Navionics Platinum that much better than the premium? I realize LM is a must if I choose to get iLink somewhere down the line.

For me, the cons would be someone tampering with the boat. I would definitely not leave gear or electronics on it. I don't know if MotorGuide has a quick release bracket so you can bring the TM home with you as well. You'll have to make sure the slip has power so you can charge your batteries. If the slip is in a high traffic area, a lift is going to protect the hull from boat wakes slamming it into the dock.

It's only a must if you will store the boat. What Rhino mentioned should be done once a year whether you winterize or not. I also remove the batteries from the boat and grease the hubs on the trailer to make sure there's no water in the bearings. If the boat is stored outside, trim the motor down and cover the lower unit with plastic to prevent water from entering. As far as gas treatment, either use/drain the fuel and store it empty, or fill up the tank and stabilize. A partially full tank will allow condensation to form. Water mixed with fuel is not good. There's a ton of videos on youtube showing how to winterize the motor.

If, by everything you need, is a head unit, a mount, a transducer, and wiring, then yes it does, although some units can be purchased without transducers.. I'm not familiar with a kayak set up which may require some different mounts. You will want to install an inline fuse which is not included. You can pick up a fuse holder and a package of 3 amp fuses at the auto parts store. If you meant what features you need, you'll have to figure out what is important to your style of fishing. There are tons of options available. I'm sure a kayak guy will chime in shortly.

Go out and fish. Keep a journal. Go out and fish some more. As previously said, there is a ton of stuff written about G'ville. Study archived and recent fishing reports from the fishing guides. Try and go out fishing with another BR member who knows the lake, there are a few guys here who may be willing to teach you some stuff for the price of some gas money and a sandwich. If I lived on or near such a fishery, and had the time and means, I'd pick apart that lake on a daily basis, learning new areas to fish while practicing what I've already learned and trying new tactics. There is an old saying "90% of the fish live in 10% of the water" The 10% changes seasonally and thru weather fronts but the ratio remains the same. Nothing beats time on the water.

Trailer should be level when towing. You can buy them most anywhere. Any trailer rental like UHaul, Wally World, Home Depot or other big box stores, online.

Big ones are easier to filet. I wouldn't recommend keeping anything under 8" because there's not enough meat for a filet. Check your local restrictions. Some lakes here in IL have size and creel limits on panfish.

99.9% boneless fillets. Makes for easy frying. I like eating fried bluegill sandwiches. He was impressed. Said it was much nicer than the old boat. The only negative comments he made was "Why do you need a motor that big?" and he thought the seat was uncomfortable. He bought me 2 minnow buckets as a boat warming gift and I believe a hint that he wants to go out more. I'm guilty of not taking him out enough. Only pre and post tourney season. He misses having a boat. Got rid of his over 10 years ago. He had a 24' Pro Line walk around all set up for trolling Lake Michigan.

I was out on my favorite panfish lake today wondering why the dead bluegill and why no weeds. Saw multiple foam buoys with Do not remove. Weed something or other printed across them. Spawn is ending on the Fox Chain. You're about an hour north so I'd bet it's the same.

Invest in some Tatsu and get a birdsnest. You'll be wishing you still had Vanish on your reel.

Went out meat fishing with my dad today. He hadn't seen the new boat yet and has been bugging me to get out. When my son comes along, dad doesn't get to fish the way he wants because the kid has bass blinders on. He won't fish for anything else. I met him at my favorite panfish lake. Dad supplies the bait and I supply the fun. Bet we caught 100 fish all shapes and sizes. Bass, perch, crappie, bluegill, rockbass, pumpkinseed, and a bowfin. The vast majority were small but we found a blg gill honeyhole. Gills all caught on nightcrawler pieces. Everything else caught on nightcrawlers, minnows and leeches. Yes, I did keep a couple 14" bass for the frying pan.

Try this, it's real easy, delicious, and lighter than deep fried Melt some butter and put a couple cloves of crushed garlic in it and cook on low for maybe 5 minutes. Marinate the filets in the garlic butter for 15 minutes. Put it on a baking sheet and drizzle the melted garlic butter on top. Sprinkle some fresh ground black pepper. cover it with the "Italian 4 cheese blend" shredded package cheese you get at the grocery store. Top it off with crushed potato chips. Bake on 400 for 15-20 minutes depending on the thickness of the filets.

I feel your pain. (Pun intended) This is very true. I've been in physical therapy for almost a year from a work related injury. This included one surgery and I'm hoping to avoid a second. My current physical therapist, whom I have been seeing for a month, has done more for me than the number of therapist's I saw 8 months prior. He has me doing similar exercises mentioned in the article. Basically, he has told me that during an injury and the following therapy the larger muscles over compensate for the smaller less developed muscles causing the body to be out of alignment so to speak, resulting in the chronic pain. I have been developing the smaller muscles along with receiving epiderals and a nerve block, and possibly "burning" the nerve in the future. Blocking the nerve is supposed to stop the spasming allowing the muscles to redevelop. It's a long tedious process. I wish you the best.

Funny you mention this I prefished Thurs and Fri with highs in the 80's and wind blowing 30+ Sunday, tourney day, high was 55 and winds around 10-15. We caught less fish but larger fish during prefish. On tourney day, my son and I probably boated 50 bass but our best 5 were 8.49 @ weighin. If it wasn't for a couple boats weighing in at least 1 bedding female, big bag would have been 10lbs. I didn't change presentations until my son had caught the first 3 keepers on a worm. I was hoping for a jig to produce like it was during prefish where I had landed a few 3lb+ fish but they wanted nothing to do with it. Someone pulled a 4.79lb spawned out female from one of my spots as we were leaving. I never saw what he as using, but it won big bass. The good fish were there I couldn't dial them in.

That's interesting. I've caught the same fish repeatedly before, but on smaller water. I could tell by the markings. To me, it seems like a long way to go, but love makes us do funny things. I guess it may not be far fetched since salmonoids return to their birthplace to reproduce. I have also seen shows about sharks traveling hundreds of miles only to return to their stomping grounds. The bass spawn is such a short window and that's why I'm questioning it.
