  1. I can't believe this idiot is running his mouth after all of this. There is a reason he took so many polygraphs last year...his specialty was fishing alone in partner tournaments if you know what I'm saying... . Look his name up on the BASS website and check out his results when he had to fish with a co-angler. Not so hot eh? I hope he's hiding well, because I imagine the boys down that way wouldn't mind getting a piece of him...especially after reading that article.
  2. If possible, research how(techniques) tournaments in the past were won at that particular fishery at around the same date you are fishing it. Read up on as many years back as possible, including pros and co's. Also read up on the rest of the top ten, or someone who might have brought in a huge sack one day. You'd be amazed on what you can pick up. Some guys have loose lips!
  3. The good thing is that he was whacked with a felony conviction. Being that they took his fishing license, he won't be able to make any money fishing. Couple that with the 5 years probation, and he won't be able to leave the state without permission from his PO to fish in a different state. He MAY be able to get a job flipping burgers, but even those joints don't like to hire convicted felons. On top of all of that, he better have eyes on the back of his head because I would assume he's not a very popular person in the fishing world in Texas right now!
  4. I have nothing on this dude! Nocked out his teeth with a chainsaw! Now that's talent!!! ;D http://www.wimp.com/snappingturtles/
  5. I just read in an article that BASS Conservation Director Chris Horton uses non-iodized salt as an additive. He claims that most additives are mostly salt to begin with, and uses 1/3 cup for every 5 gallons of water. I'll stick with the name brands, though I do find what he says interesting.
  6. If the water is "REALLY UP", you're better off staying home and waiting until it clears up some and nears normal flow. That's when it is often the best for river smallies.
  7. Is it scented?
  8. Haha! Good stuff Chris! I had a similar experience with a loon last year in Northern NY. I was fishing a rock flat with a 6" Yum Money Minnow when a loon showed up and started diving for dinner. Being that the water was super clear (you can see bottom in 25-30 fow), I noticed a big "white thing" following my bait as it got closer to my boat. I was a bit confused. A few seconds later, as I was making another cast, the loon popped up about 15 ft. away and looked perplexed. I quickly reeled in my lure as it dove again as I didn't want to find out what hooking one of those suckers would do if hooked. I never would have imagined in my wildest dreams that a loon could be fooled like that. Now seagulls...that's another story all together!
  9. X2...Except it was a 5 lb. smallmouth for me. Ouch!
  10. Classic Patterns
  11. I definitely agree that it is ALL of our jobs here to take care of our resources- be it the fish, the water, or the surrounding lands, etc. But, this statement needs some clarification or documentation. Statements without proof are just elevator music or background noise and do nothing to help the cause.
  12. Haha! Pike aren't allowed in my boat unless it is for a picture. They stink something fierce! I usually just use pliers over the side of my boat...but last year I ended up with a handful of trebles and then dropped my Leatherman($60) in 50 feet of water when one thrashed around. I may have used a baseball bat that day if I had one on my boat! lol Be thankful you're on Bass Resource and not one of the musky boards! You could be banned for a comment like that on one of those! LOL!
  13. Crews didn't have a limit on two of the days. It just goes to show you you have to be around the big fish to win one of these things.
  14. A baseball bat usually does the job! jk
  15. It seems Erie has some competition these days...for the record, Ontario is junk and has few bronzebacks over four pounds... :
  16. It's been well documented here what Bill Dance's show's are all about...catching numbers of huge fish on baits he promotes while fishing in places we probably : couldn't get access to. Has anyone else noticed the SK Pro Team Journal show seems to be the same pond/lake for every show, whether it's KVD, Denny Brauer, Hackney, or Mark Menendez? I realize both shows, along with others, are trying to sell a product in as little time as possible. I am in no way trying to be disrespectful of the baits(some are awesome) or the fishermen(best in the world), but I like a show such as Classic Patterns where the guys are fishing lakes that we all have access to, and we can REALLY learn something. Just my two cents.
  17. Do you know if the hotel is pager friendly? It's a European carryall. Indiana Jones wears one...
  18. There's a VERY good article on this in the newest FLW magazine. It is very surprising...it seems as though it depends on each individual fish.
  19. I like them big, with 3 sets of trebles(better hookups and bigger fish). The Rapala Huskey Jerk HJ-14 in ghost colors is where it's at. The smaller ones just don't have the same action...
  20. Got mine from FLW a few weeks back...luckily my accountant says I can write it off with all my expenses.
  21. I may or may not have seen that place before. I can't recall. Yep. So you know...
  22. Is that picture at Chamount Bay RTbassNY?
  23. Great pics guys! I believe I already posted a few of these but cabin fever is getting the best of me so here goes! All are 5+ and I forgot my camera for my biggest, a 6-6.
  24. Not sure SPAZ, but I do believe that is why the salmon runs occur up the rivers every fall.
