  1. Don't forget about current...
  2. Broke my PB 2 times this year...first with a 5-14 which is the first pic, and then a 6-6 that I forgot my camera for. Looking forward to the fall, when the big girls start to bite again! I need a 7+ to get a replica done!
  3. The Live Impacts are a great bait. I was handed some at the Stren 1000 Islands last year and had some success. I ordered some from TW over the winter and they weren't shrimp scented like the ones given to me, and don't seem to work as well. The shrimp scented ones given to me were some of the strongest, most vile smelling baits I've ever used. One good whiff would turn your stomach. As a matter of fact, when the dude gave them to me, he told me to smell them. After I almost lost my lunch, and he got up off the floor of his boat wiping the tears from his eyes and still laughing, I was slightly amused too... ;D!!!
  4. I agree totally. The Elites have been hitting big fish lakes at the perfect times for the past couple of years...while it has been said the FLW events are shakey head events. Either way, the best rise to the top and figure out what they need to do to catch them consistantly. I expect the best to make the cut in the Burgh.
  5. I think it's a great idea. First of all, Pittsburgh is arguably THE top sports town in the country right now with the Steelers and Penguins in the championship hunt yearly. Secondly, I was at the 05 Classic and the turnout was UNBELIEVEABLE. I had a blast and met a bunch of great people. And finally, the size of the bags the guys brought in were not really glitzy, but the best of the best still rose to the top. The hottest fishermen that year were Vandam, Martens, Swindle, and Ike, and all were in the top five when it was said and done. If anyone decides to head out that way, be sure to check out the Station Square area near the river- great times to be had there!!!
  6. All I use on my spinning outfits is Fireline Crystal with an 8 lb. Seagar fluorocarbon leader about 6-8 ft. long. The sensitivity is unbelievable and it hardly twists at all. I realize Fireline isn't really braid, but buy some flouro, use a Uni to Uni knot to tie it to your braid, and give it a shot. You won't be disappointed.
  7. No bananas in my boat!
  8. Most tourneys, including last year's Stren, was won on Lake Ontario. The Fox Island area is a good place to start, as is Chamount Bay. Fox island is about a 20 mile ride from Clayton, and Chamount about 30. Be VERY careful navigating the river or you WILL end up without a lower unit. GPS is a must. Only attempt these areas if the forecast calls for little wind (less than 10 mph) ALL DAY LONG. If the wind begins to pick up, head back to the river.
  9. Bass season opens on the NY side of the river on the 3rd Saturday of June(20th) just as in years past. According to Ontario's Ministry of Natural Resources web site, it opens on the Canadian side on the 4th Saturday of June(27th) as it always has. Do not get caught fishing for bass out of season on the Canadian side...they take it very seriously.
  10. Did you ever check out the Keitech Swing Impacts at TW? Trust me, you will NOT be dissapointed!
  11. When a smallie hits a Sammy or Spook it's insane. I can't see how it could get any better than seeing a 4 or 5 lb smallie completely out of the water on the strike.
  12. First of all, smallies that are that shallow that aren't spawning can drive you crazy, especially on bluebird days. My guess is that those fish were post-spawn. They can be very cranky just after they get off the beds right before they move deep. Best bet is to try to hit them in low light conditions(early morning or evening) or go after them when there is some wind, with wind/overcast being even better. That being said, some days the smallie bite won't be as good as the largemouths, or vice versa. If it were me and I knew they were just coming off the beds, I'd fish points near their spawning areas or the first steep drop adjacent to spawning flats. If you find them, you will find many. I have had some VERY good days in these situations.
  13. Looks FINE for her age....
  14. ;D ;D ;D
  15. You beat me to it...check out this one I took at Pocono in the early 90's. Three greats in the order of their deaths.
  16. Oh yeah!!!
  17. A sixer....classic!!!
  18. Superbowl champs!
  19. Don't get discouraged my friend! That is the life of a co-angler. I've fished as a co-angler with some real "gems". Just remember, learning what not to do on a lake may pay big divedends for you in the future.
  20. Hahaha! "I going to eat him!"....This is going to get good. ;D
  21. A great start to '09!
