  1. I believe most rods are fast action unless otherwise stated.
  2. that looks cool, I might give that a try.
  3. I also engrave mine. used to sharpie them. Sometimes the ink would wear off, so I would just find another crank in the box that was the same. If I didn't have another crank of that brand I would find myself looking them up online. Worst case you can just look at the lip size, it won't give exact depth but at least you can estimate.
  4. anything watermelon
  5. I have fished so many but lately for me its the red eye shads and the XR50's
  6. Have you actually tried the fireline braid? I have been using it for several months now and love it.
  7. Interesting reads, thanks Glenn
  8. If that was the case then the fish at the bottom of the spillway would probably be unaffected as it is very well oxygenated. What leads me to believe there is something in the water is the way so may fish were huddled up in the small creek with fresh water leading to the pond.
  9. I've seen that before. Dead cats, bass, bluegill, carp. Something definitely in the water.
  10. I went to my local pond today to go fishing. The first thing I noticed when I got out of my car was a foul smell. When I got the water I saw dead fish all over the place. Whats interesting to me is that there were people fishing and none of them seemed to notice anything odd. The only spot that look at all healthy was in a small trib. creek where tons of fish had congregated. I tried to call the PA fish & boat commission, county parks and rec. and local police. Everything is closed.
  11. I have used Dicks specials before and getting parts and schematics are usually pretty easy when you contact Quantum directly.
  12. They do look very similar. I know some people mistakenly refer to fallfish as chubs too. Their scientific name is Semotilus corporalis . I have caught some decent sized fallfish in the Susqhehanna River. I don't think PA keeps records for them, but the NY state record is 3lbs 9oz. http://www.nyoutdoornews.com/articles/2009/06/04/top_news/news02.txt Edit: I usually catch them on small inline spinners. Hmm. always thought a fallfish and a creek chub were the same thing. ... anyway, I have caught them on small spinnerbaits and curly tail grubs, but mostly on live bait.
  13. 43" striper caught in the delaware river. We were using live herring.
  14. While fishing the Delaware for herring, we catch 2-3 per cast on consecutive casts for hours on end.
  15. I use spinning tackle primarily for light weight lures and for finesse presentations. My curent set up st croix avs66m paired with a quantum energy
  16. I practice my pitching in my house. It has helped a lot and my cat loves it too
  17. expensive : loomis, st. croix less expensive : st. croix, bps
  18. I use the double uni. might try the J knot, looks easy
  19. I have never used rod wraps but I do like reel grips. I think you can pick them up at Dicks. I don't think there is any big advantage but I think they feel good, especially after a long day of fishing. For about $5 its not a big gamble.
  20. Maybe I'm in the minority but I have never had issues with quantum reels. Most of my current reels are shimanos but the energys have served me well
  21. I agree with a lot of what your saying. The most annoying thing for me is how these shows are just big comercials. I do Enjoy city limits and facts of fishing with dave mercer. Shows with some energy are nice.
  22. I like both of those bands. A.C. are were crazy
  23. I'm not sure he's in the top 10 anymore
  24. oh "pig destroyer" is another good one "burn the priest"
