  1. I honestly spend about 90% of my free time on this website or cabelas or basspro. I can't wait for spring to get here. I wish I lived someplace where I could fish for bass year round.
  2. I know you used to be able to take the test online, but I believe now that you can only do an online study course and have to take the test in person. This website should answer any other questions you have. http://www.boat-ed.com/nh/index.htm
  3. I have caught a few pike in my fishing career, but no number or great size. Can anyone recommend a good lake in the Northeast that holds a good population of pike. I live in NH and don't mind a drive for good fishing. Also, what time of the year would be best to plan a trip for some nice pike. A lake that also holds bass would be a plus. Thanks for any pointers.
  4. I was lucky enough to hook up with a 130# tuna east of Cape Cod this summer. What a fight! It took my 9" slug-go and ran so hard it caused the spinning reel to start smoking. 35 minutes later, fresh sushi! If you ever have to opportunity to fish for these amazing fish, give it a go.
  5. I went through two sets of lights in about a month before switching over to LED. They are waterproof, ridiculously bright and I haven't had any problems with them. It is worth the extra money to switch to LED.
  6. I live about 15 minutes from Lake Massebesic, so I often fish there after work during the summer. I was wondering if anyone has seen the Charlie Moore episode on massebesic, or if anyone knows where I could get a copy of it. Also, I have seen people pull big fish from the lake, but I have only managed decent sizes. Any suggestions on what I should try there this coming season? Thanks.
  7. Thanks Wayne. I also fish a lot of wacky rigged senkos, and will try a floro leader this spring.
  8. How many of you all use a leader when fishing braid? Does it depend on what baits you're fishing? Also, what material and length of leader do you use? Thanks.
  9. I go to school in NC and have not had a change to do much bass fishing down here. When does the fishing get good in the spring? What places should I check out to fish from shore near Burlington, NC. I don't mind a drive but do not want to go too far. Thanks for any advise.
  10. I'm new to this forum, but would definatly be interested in participating in a small local tournament. I have never fished tournaments but was planning on starting this summer. I live in Bedford, NH so a lot of the lakes you mentioned are fairly close to me. Let me know if you organize anything from this sping/early summer (School till May 15th). Thanks.
  11. Fourbizz. Why do you think the 2000 is a better choice? Is the 2500 going to be too big for this rod, or do you just prefer the smaller reel? Thanks.
  12. I am thinking about pairing a Daiwa Sol spinning reel with the St. Croix 7ft MF rod and spooling it with 15# braid. Is the 2500 size the best option for this application. Does anyone on here use a setup similar to that? I fish with a lot of soft plastics, senkos, grubs, etc. Thanks for any advise.
  13. Thanks for all of the info. After doing some more research, I think I am going to get the 7' fast medium rod and pair it with a quantum energy PT. I cannot decide which size reel to get. The E20PT has a capacity of 140 yds of 6# and the E30PT has a capacity of 160 yds of 8#. Which of these reels would be a better match for the rod? I will be using 15# braid. Thanks again.
  14. I am looking into buying a St. Croix legend tournament bass spinning rod. I am pretty set on the 7 foot model. Does anyone had any experience with these rods? What would be a good spinning reel to pair with this rod? I was looking at the Quantum PT series. Finally, what # braid would you pair with this rod. I will be mostly fishing with soft plastics (senkos wacky rigged, tubes, grubs, etc.) Thanks in advance for any information you can provide. This is going to be my first quality setup so I want to make sure it will be perfect.
