Huge mako in gulf
I caught one about 1/10th of that size off Cape Cod this summer. I though that was cool, I can only imagine what these guys were thinking.

Quick braid question
I just got a Daiwa Tierra 2500 and plan on putting powerpro on it. I can't decided between the better casting performance of 15# and the improved strength of 20#. What would you recommend for a rod that will be used for a lot of soft plastic baits. Thanks.

Hooked on Bass- National geographic special
I also recorded it when it aired last time. It was very interesting and the underwater footage was great. I even bought the book Sowbelly after watching the segment on the trophy hunters.

Trouble with Fishing a Hula Popper
I like fishing hula poppers around weeds, wood and other structure during the summer. The best times for me have been early am and right before dark. I think the most important thing with them is to get as close to structure as possible so it is not too far away after a few pops. I also have had more luck with the smaller sizes.

Sworming Hornet fish head spin
has anyone used sworming hornets fish head spinners? I saw them in Field and Streams section on best largemouth baits and was wondering if they are worth trying. If so, what are the best plastics to use as trailers for these? Thanks.

Colored Braid
Powerpro claims their phantom red braid dissapears in 15 feet of water. I havn't used it so I don't know if that is true or just another marketing claim.

Is Ike a little over the top?
I think Ike is very entertaining. He is definatly not your typical bass angler. But he knows how to fish and loves fishing and I think that is why he gets so excited.

Getting Motor Ready
There is an article in this month's Field and Stream that is about DIY outboard repair. It has some good troubleshooting ideas if you run into trouble getitng it running. Good luck.

X-rap questions
I have read about jerkbaits and decided to buy a few x-raps for the spring. What colors and sizes work best for you? Any other tips for fishing them for SMB would be great. Thanks.

Lure Retrievers
I have the cabelas snag master. It was $10 and has saved many snagged lures. Definatly worth the investment IMO.

Fishing a Jerk Bait
I plan on using jerkbaits for the first time this spring and summer. I was wondering what sizes are the most effective for smallies and what colors work best. Thanks.

What got you hooked?
I fished with my dad when I was younger, but we never went very often. During high school I would fish with some of my friends out of boredom, but never had much luck. Last year, I split a boat with one of my friends and that is what got me hooked. Fishing from shore on small ponds in NH was never very productive for us. Owning a boat allowed us to access much more water and many more fish which got me hooked.

TackleTour.com what do you think? Do you agree with me?
I like to check tackletour before buying a new rod or reel. I agree, most of the stuff on there is more high end. They probably figure that people who are going to spend more money on gear will do more research on it before buying. Basically, I'll check it out before buying something, but definatly trust people's reveiws on here more.

The Trouble with BPS
I ordered from TW for the first time today. BPS and Cabelas have outrageous shipping prices. Can't beat TW's free shipping and better prices.

Help: St. Croix Mojo Rods
I was looking at a Mojo recently but decided to get a Legend tournmant bass becasue of the lifetime warranty. I will be using my rod for pretty much the same purpose as you described and I went with the medium power, fast action. I've never had a BPS rod so i cannot judge I cannot compare the powers. Good luck.

Some pics from R.I.
Great pics! My family used to have a house near Newport. I learned how to fish for stripers with my dad at Brenton Point. Nothing beat the feeling when I caught my first one. Thanks for sharing the pics.

How well can bass see Braid??? Need a leader??
I have always wondered the same thing, but have always used straight braid. Powerpro claims their new phantom red line dissapears in water deeper than 15 ft. I will be buying some, more for the looks than the claim that is cannot be seen by fish.

Wacky riggng questions
Wacky rigging is one of my favorite techniques. I use spinning gear with 15# braid. I have not used baits other than the senko, but plan on trying a few others this season. For hooks I use gamagatsu EWG hooks size 1/0 to 3/0. Where I fish (NH) getting snagged on rocks and other structure on the bottom can become a problem, so I began to use hoks with a wire weedguard. They work well and prevent a lot of frustration. O-rings are a must, they will save you a lot of money. Good luck, I'm sure you will love wacky rigging.

Customer service
Customer service is a very important factor to me when buying any fishing equipment. When deciding between two brands, outstanding customer service can make a difficult decision much easier. What major reel and rod companies do you this have the best and worst customer service departments? Thanks.

Lil Wayne
I know most people on this forum do not listen to rap or hip hop music, but I am still going to make a thread about Lil Wayne. He is going to release a rock album in April and has had 2 songs leak from it already. I think wayne is one of the most creative artist alive. He can do whatever he likes.

Abu Garcia Soron STX
Thanks for the info Micro. Sounds like they are pretty well built. I think I will get the STX20 sometime this month. Very helpful review!

The 25lb Bass
This thread is defiantly an interesting read. As with any sporting achievement, there are always going to be questions surrounding a record. Just look at Barry Bonds and the whole steroid situation. In all, I think it is amazing how much time and effort these guys put into catching this one fish. I also just ordered the book Sowbelly, it looks like a very interesting read during winter.

Abu Garcia Soron STX
There isn't much talk about Abu spinning reels on here and I was hoping someone who fishes them could provide some insight. I have been reading reviews of the Soron Stx spinning reel and it seems to be very well built. Does anyone use this reel and if so, what are your thoughts on it? It seems like a great value for $130 minus a 20 dollar mail in rebate. Thanks in advance for any info.
