  1. I would imangine for a lot of these folks it's called putting food on the table - remember it has been reported that it took Perry's family three days to eat the world record bass.
  2. It happnes to all of us - no matter what we are doing - one suggestion though would be to go to your instructor and tell him/her what you did wrong and how you would correct it - you may not get all of the points but it might help - can't hurt.
  3. Almost everything Martens is involved in is a "train wreck" - I like how they had to put sub-titles in so you knew what he was saying part of the time.
  4. Ring fries are the goto bait in this area - you can T-rig, C-rig or even fish 'em weightless (they will case that way) - another trick is to stick a nail weight in their butt while fising them "weightless" - this gives 'em another presentation. You can also drop-shot 'em or use 'em on a shakey head. Awsome lures.
  5. When my son was very little, I noticed that he did almost everything left handed - he could throw a ball on a string and he was even left footed for soccer. When he started school he was very excited to learn to write. But he was struggling with it. While trying to help him, I noticed that he was writing with his right hand. I discovered that when his teacher started the lessons on writing, her first direction was "take you pencil in your right hand". When I figured this out, I tried to get him switched, but the school recommended not changing him. Now he is 19 years old, a high school graduate and has handwriting like what you describe. He does everything else left handed except write.
  6. I thought sausage gravy was like ketchup - it makes everything tast better
  7. Somebody gave me a gift card to Starbucks a couple of years ago - went there and was so confused! Had no idea how to just order a cup of coffee - had to be a "half-calf, decaf, mocha choke-a-chicken, with sprinkles or something" - I just threw the card away.
  8. Am I totally out of the loop? What difference does it make what your post count is?
  9. That's exactly what I mean - I may never erase this one from the DVR
  10. I watched a replay of Hank's show this week - the title is "Little Fishing Buddy" - the show is about the organization, Outdoors without Limits. If you get the Versus Channel, do your self a favor and watch this show (there will be replays through this weekend). If you can do it with dry eyes, you seriously need to evaluate your soul.
  11. This reminds me of the guys in the boats wrapped in every color in the rainbow telling us to dress in drab colors when fishing for spawning bass :
  12. The interesting thing about that Hook-n-Look episode was that he struggled even though there were fish in the area. Sort of makes him almost human.
  13. Is the press conference archieved anywhere - by the time that rolled around, I was about to OD on the Classic and didn't stay logged on to watch it. Now I wish I had.
  14. So is this the new version of the Biosonix? It seems like it does the same thing at a much lower (but still to high for me) cost.
  15. No way do I believe he "cheats", but there is one thing that is consistent with last year - that is fishing close to the launch point. I have heard of lakes where there are "release areas" that are off limits as the fish caught during other tournaments are turned loose there and tend to stay there. Does anybody know anything about this particular area? There has to be something other than just water that held those fish for three straight days and with that many anglers.
  16. I knew it was something special, it just happended so quickly and out of the blue, that I didn't know what.
  17. Does anyone know the backstory on the guy with G-Man at the weigh in? That all happened so fast and I wasn't ready for it.
  18. I think the lack of response speaks volumes about the complaints about BASS - it's easy to gripe, hard to come up with positive suggestions.
  19. Nebraska resident fishing license = $28.00 Annual park permit = $21.00 Iowa Non-resident license = $41.00 Total = $90.00
  20. I once talked with a guy who was "in the know" and he was explaining to me about all of the research that went into the design of the LC's. It was really fascinating and helped explain why they cost as much as they do - problem is, my bank account will only allow me to fish 'em if they are in the bargin bin - which they are occasionally.
  21. My local Wal-Mart sells the best bar-b-cue chicken wings in town!!! Oh, you meant fishing stuff - that's where I buy all my Power Pro and chatter baits
  22. About two years ago, I was fishing with a fellow club member - on pre-fish day, we found fish in an area (not a spot, but the lesson is the same). We figured out the pattern within a few minutes and started there the next morning - filled our limits fairly quickly and the bite started to slow down, so we left with intentions of comming back as the day went on. We did "come back" about 4 or 5 times through out the day and found the area packed with boats each time. We had it all to ourselves on pre-fish day and for the first 3 hours of the touney - never did get a chance to work it again. BTW, the tourney was won within 100 yards of the entrance to that area.
  23. "Spots" vary from spot to spot - as a co-angler in club tournaments, one of the most frustrating experiences is when the boater leaves a spot while fish are biting. But as to going back, it really sort of depends. If the weather is changing as the day goes on, that spot may have given up all it's going to . On the other hand, if the weather is stable, there was something that attracted the fish in the first place and that should mean that it will re-load as the day goes on.
  24. It may come as a surprise, especially to the Forum Administrator (who told me I must be in my 20's) but I hit the big 6 - 0 this year.
  25. Don't mean to hijack the thread - but do have one quick question - when heating up the jig, with a torch (or I assume with a heat gun) - how do you know when it is hot enough and not too hot. I have been waiting until the lead becomes slick almost "watery" looking - I know if I go too much past that the whole thing will melt. Any quick tips on this?
