  1. Your basically looking at $100 per horsepower. All of the major brands are good motors. I have a 30 Johnson and it has never gave any problems.
  2. It does work. Tried it myself.
  3. If bream are not game fish in your state then you are good to go, most states have minnow regs because sometimes people will use juvenile carp of several different species because they resemble minnows when small enough. They don't want that going on.
  4. You don't have gator gar on there. They get as big as you and they have BIG TEETH and unlike pike and other mentioned cirtters they have the bite pressure to make you sorry.
  5. I am starting to look for a large flat bottom boat that will be able to fish rivers and lakes. I need something that will fish at least 3 people, and it needs to be able to run shallow. Can anyone offer me some suggestions? I plan to use this boat on rivers mostly in the summer but I want to be able to use it on lakes also.
  6. I got a sweet deal on a 70# 24volt maxxum. Price most places is 750-780. They had sticker on them for 720.00. Also offered incentive for gander credit card which gave 10% off and a 50 gift card. So 720.00-72-50=598.00 before tax. This was feb or march of this year.
  7. The subject is self explanatory. I like to fish for them, especially big gator gar. Most of the time I can only go during the week, and I have a hard time finding anyone to fish with me. Its really hard to deal with a 100# fish alone. PM me if interested.
  8. Yeah, its not so bad in summer but it really sucks to have to go in the winter when the wind is blowing a steady 20mph and its the windchill is in the 30's. Trying to get your business out of all thermals, jeans, coveralls, and a rain suit and then manage to have enough left to direct the stream away from your clothing. Even at a young age the cold and a holding it for 2 hours hoping the wind will die down makes things more difficult. As far as the squirts goes, luckily that hasn't come up in the winter for me. It did earlier this year while I was on a flooded river though, and no there wasn't anywhere to get out of the boat and get er done. You won't get splashed on if the bow of your boat is high, might want to keep it in mind.
  9. http://www.nsf.org/consumer/newsroom/fact_fs_grilling.asp Check that for the exacts. Also, 165 will not make something cardboard. At work we cook chicken to 180 and it does not dry it out. Length of time cooked will effect drying out more than temp.
  10. How about 165. Thats the number for raw products, previously frozen or not. 140 is the temp for reheats or holding. Also, wal*mart has nothing to do with what is in that package. Some other company makes the product in the package and when it runs on there packaging equipment it puts it in a Great Value bag. Lots of times it will be the exact same product that another company sells but with a different brand label.
  11. was probably more interested in your hook than the bait.
  12. Yeah freezing probably got them. Look like some sort of roundworms to me. Calling company won't help much, that kind of thing is hard to catch and its not really there fault. See worms in fish all the time.
  13. You could also consider getting a boat with a bigger motor and getting a 24 volt tm for use on those 25hp limit lakes.
  14. It depends on the type of plastic. Its just meant to get you home and not more than get you home. Probably fine for that purpose.
  15. Dude i hope you didn't top it out on the break in cruise because um...that voids the warranty. Please say you didn't.
  16. There is an entire section of articles dedicated to this topic on this website. Check them out bro!
  17. Buy an f150 crew cab. sure the gas mileage sucks, but is has power nice interior options and yeah. buy it.
  18. Even on a small red ear there will be an orange sliver on the female's ear flap. If that fish lacks the orange sliver it is a female bluegill. I can't really tell if that is an orange sliver or a little bit of blood. Red ear will also be thicker across the back and have a longer body while bluegills will be more disk shaped and narrow across the back.
  19. It is illegal not to kill it.

  21. Conservation departments are allowed to electro-fish. This is what they are referencing when they say shocking. Its a mostly harmless method of doing fish surveys.
  22. Lots of weeds? Lots of pads? Ever heard of a Norman Lures Weed Walker? You can throw them on the bank and reel them to the water, they won't snag. They always land hook up. It is shaped like a spoon, but has a square hole in the middle with a smaller blade in the hole. It makes a rooster tail when you reel it in. It also has a skirt like a spinner bait and you can put a trailer hook on it. That is what I would take.
  23. I caught a small bass once that had a hook poking out of the side of its gut. The point was rusted off but it was still lodged inside him. I fixed it.
  24. 5 gallon bucket. Should do it for that 8' boat.
