As far as I can tell they are like most other fresh water predator species, and they will bite at night. Come to think of it, I don't know of one that will not. Anyone else?
  2. The fact that it has a deep hole in the headwaters is important imo. That type of place could really concentrate fish in cold water. Give the drops into that area a try with the techniques WRB suggested. Something you need to consider: There probably aren't large numbers of any one species in that lake because of the fact there are so many predator species. Perch,Crappie,Pickeral, and bass are all going to eat the same things. If you get a large number of pickeral on a spinnerbaits then you should take special note of the color configuration, and 1. try that in bass areas, or 2. use a dif bait but with the same colors. hope this helps

There are a lot of people around here that bow.fish for them but I do not. Its pretty hard to catch them too, you can spend all day, get three bites and say you had a good day with them. Nice thing is that if you connect with one of those bites you prob looking at 50-200# fish.

http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=57372481&albumID=2710699&imageID=44898686 There is a pic of an alligator gar. I fish for them in the summer when it gets hot.
  6. Tell you the truth I think its the foam they put between the floor and the hull. Doubt they cleared enough of it out.
  7. This is a 16' aluminum bass boat. It has a drain with a grate on the top of it at the lowest point between the two seats. Its supposed to drain water from the front portion of the boat back to the bilge area where it can be pumped out. It drains so slowly that my boat fills with water in the front section during rain. I have tried washing it out with water hose on high preasure, but that didn't help. The drain goes under my storage, livewell, and gas tank and then drains into the bilge.
  8. I got a maxxum 70 for 700 and a free 50 bucks of merchandise.
  9. Hey I need some suggestions for a problem I have: While fishing in the rain, the bottom of my boat in the front section fills up quicker than the floor drain can drain the water, which isn't very fast at all, and so the water doesn't get to my bilge pump to be pumped out. What should I do about this so that I can go in the rain tomorrow and not sink?

  11. That kid is not standing behind the fish in that picture. He is beside it.
  12. You can get one for 100 bucks ready to use. Prob not worth your trouble to rig it.
  13. stilts. They can help you wif dis. ;D
  14. The kid isn't standing far from that fish because of his arm position, also the man holding the fish does not have his arm in a position that would be conductive to holding it closer to the camera. Edit: It also appears to me that the child's left foot is closer to the camera than the fish, and that the man's elbow is closer to the camera than the fish. With the angle of the man's arm holding the fish, it is not possible for it to be held closer to the camera than the boy because his arm is bent back in towards his body. From looking at the feet of the man and the boy you can see that the boy is standing closer to the camera, and it appears to me with his left foot closer than the fish.
  15. Allow me to shorten that list for you: Buy new boat ;D
  16. You shouldn't be using opinions in your paper to begin with, if it really is a research paper. Second, like everyone else has said, this is one of those things that is a case by case basis, some lakes and regions will be harmed by to many fish being kept, while others suffer when fish are not harvested from them. Alot of this has to do with how fertile the area is, and what the food chain consist of. Go look up your area or state and use that, not what someone else across the country from you uses. You'll learn something useful for yourself, and you mite actually give someone else a good bit of information that they can use too.
  17. Since you have a family that size a fish and ski might be a good model for you.
  18. Just make sure while the spool is open that you watch your line closely. A sudden jerk from a large fish will give you a backlash and possibly take the rod from you if your are caught of guard.
  19. If your shore bound consider a long spinning rod and or a set of waders.
  20. You should try fishing that hole when you first get to the lake if there isn't a line of people waiting on the ramp. I mean hit it before you drop the boat in, or a few minutes after someone else uses the ramp and power loads, because that gets things stirred up down there.
  21. Ditto on the give more information post. Without knowing you situation you can't be helped.
  22. go to any parts store and they will test it for free.
  23. sure why not. I'm in for Texas yall. Way to go for the 14 year old ruining that fishes jaw.
  24. why don't you get back to us and let us know if you try anything?
