  1. When i need a flutter sound i go with the plopper..But the times i need that clanking sound like at nite..Certain buzzbaits get the call
  2. Love my Ika bites..But topwater still number one..Fav. way is walking the dog simply because it was the action i put on that lure that hopefully got him to strike
  3. Fish as much as you can...Def. my best tip
  4. Heddon popper always cast good for me...Not pricey
  5. I like to buy all kinds of diff. buzzbaits...Because each one creates it own sound..I have had just as much luck on my clanky Culpit in murky water i got for a dollar as i have with my Calvitrons or Strike Kings
  6. I have 5 size 90's and all run great..The 90 will catch more and the big ones too
  7. Guessing you have the same clear water their also?...I have had awesome success on Yamamoto grubs in white during pre-spawn into spawn on smallies and large at a local quarry here...Just slow rolling the bottom
  8. The 90 for sure...Get small and big ones...fav. color is bone
  9. Have slowed down use for me with the hydrilla high now..back to the buzzbait and doing almost just as good
  10. On the Coosa 3 years back or so..had to buy these cause out of reg. strike kings..i nailed 10 spots in like an hour and a half..had to bend back wire now and then..but did the job..then when i hooked on a log and broke off...no biggie..lost a buck

Just got some in at our local BPS...I have had success with watermelon and green pumpkin during the day..but not much luck at nite with them..has anyone used the black ones at nite with any success?
  12. Haven't tried a plopper at nite...but in open water nite fishing can't beat a black buzzbait
  13. What seemed to help me was switching the color of the frog from white bottom to black..as soon as i did that they seemed to zero in on the lure better...they crushed it alot more
  14. Pretty simple too..a baitcaster and a spinning reel...As far as gear i fish clear water mainly but have some lures and plastics also in case the water gets murky
  15. Can't say enough about this lure...was bank fishing the other morning using a popper...used for about a half hour with no strikes..tied on the plopper 90 and third cast a 2lber very next cast nailed a 4lber..walked to the other side of the cove and another 2lber..just seems when other topwaters are not working this one saves the day..my fav. lure right now
  16. i have only been to the Ohio area visiting a friend..only time i had decent success on the river was mid may till early June below lock areas when smallies spawning..killed them then..but in the Summer it was tough..i suggest early or late in the day or try some local lake or ponds
  17. Tough this time of year for a bank fisherman with not a lot of structure to catch fish mid morning or late morning...usually by that time they have either gone deep or if shallow found some cover..my buddy has the same problem and very tough for him..before dark not too bad a time but still need an hour or so after dark for it to really kick in...don't be too discouraged...come Fall will be a better time for all day chances of catching some fish
  18. The black Whopper Plopper making points with me at nite
  19. Been mentioned like 3 times
  20. Used the 90 a few times on my spinning rod..worked just fine
  21. Size 5 EWG Trokar hook...but whatever size 5 you prefer
  22. Here in SoCal been like the biggest bait for a while.....catches numbers and a few nice ones
  23. I missed like my first 8 strikes on a frog over some thick algae....the only change i made that seemed to make a big diff. was i went to black color..don't know if it presented a better silhouette under the algae for them to key on..but after that i got like 10 out of my next 15 strikes
  24. I never have more than like 20 choices...all some way match the main forage that will be near the bank during each period..either shad, bluegill, craws, baby bass..and frogs in the Summer
