  1. Ditto on what Speed said, I would just add, that when you set the hook, swing for the fences, and come straight up with the rod tip. I've found out the hard way, that a side type sweeping motion doesn't work so swell.. ;D
  2. What....??? No 8" Hudd's..? I have a couple 6" weedless Hudd's..I like to bottom bounce them, or use a VERY slow retrieve, with a pause every 20 seconds or so, you could add a slight twitch too. I throw my 6" on my inshore rod, either with a Chronarch, or a Curado 301. Line, 20lb yozuri ultrasoft, or 55 lb Samurai braid.
  3. Clear will not do anything to a colored bait, just don't use it on 3X soft baits, JJ's will melt them... ;D
  4. Any shad pattern, i.e. silver with a blue, or black back..sexy shad, ghost, pearl white, ect. Also, the males might be lookin for the big girls, so check the back lake close to the shore. Toss a 1/2oz White jig, with a brown colored craw type trailer in the reeds. You'll need heavy line. Good luck.
  5. Good grief, why'd ya have to bring up tiny tim..? I forgot about him a Loooonnnnggg time ago, and now those awful memories of his voice is back...I have a head ache......
  6. Suspending jerk baits are the call..get the ones that dive 3 to 5' max.
  7. I would say...use the reels that hold line..
  8. Good deal...I've done a few times, never have been burned...........yet..lol
  9. Double them up on a DS rig.. 8-) I like usin the baby flukes for that...pssst, just keep it a secret...o.k..?
  10. I throw 1/2, and 3/8 oz, and that's in mostly shallow water..I also use double willow blades.
  11. Being that your using vanish, I can understand why you get backlashes..lol Your thumb may need a little training too. Toss that line, and get some yozuri ultrasoft, or invisx..
  12. Weight of the fish does not dictate the line I use, the structure/cover does. You can land a 8lb bass on 4lb test, trust me on this..
  13. even for the 17 and 19" worms? As I said, depends on the diameter of the worm. Haven't fished a 19" worm, so I can't comment, the OP said 13 + I do fish 16" worms with a 6/0 hook.
  14. Thickness of the worm dictates which size hook to use. On some hand pours I can get by with 5/0, usually a 6/0 works for most though.
  15. 15 lb yozuri ultrasoft. IF I need to go heavier, I'll go to 20lb, same brand..OTH, if I'm flippin into real heavy cover, 55lb braid is my choice.
  16. I usually use 2 , but you could use a size 1, and Yes they work great for dropshoting, so you kinda kill 2 birds with 1 stone....so to speak..lol
  17. Watermelon, Green Pumkin for softbaits. Roboworms, MM, morning dawn, Aron's Magic, ect. Jigs browns with purple. Never fished spinner baits there, but I would guess that light colors i.e. white ect should be fine. I haven't fished there in a few yrs. so maybe some that currently fishes there will have more info for ya.
  18. Love tossing baby flukes on a scrounger head..
  19. X 2 on the Owner hooks..
  20. Put the line on the reel, the same way it comes off the spool. If you find that the line coils, when the label is face up, then turn the spool face down, the line should be somewhat flat if it's laying on the ground. I have Never had a line twist problem on any of my spinning reels, doing it that way.. 8-)
  21. Geez... I would like to try some for $15. Is there anymore available? Doubt it Kent, bought it about 8 months ago.. ;D Always have my eyes peeled for it though. If I run across any, I'll be sure and let you know..
  22. Aye , happy saint paddys day to the lads, and lasses.. 8-)
  23. I find that lighter colored spinners work better, i.e. white with dual willows in gold, and white with chartreuse and again dual willow blades. The Colorado blades thump more, not really needed at El D, even on the worst days, due the depth of the water mostly. This is just what worked for me in the past, that's not to say something else won't work. Might be there tomorrow at the paddle boat lake. I'm a tall skinny old guy with a grey gotee, stop by if ya see me.
