Copolymers for topwater?
I use 20# Yozuri Ultrasoft for my big top water baits, i.e. 8" Punkers, and 8" floating swimbaits. No issues as of yet. I wouldn't trust any fluro for heavier baits, even the abrasx, lost a couple of nice bass, due to poor abrasion resistance.. > I will also use 55lb Samurai braid for the real heavy top water baits.

Advantage of Curado 300?
The only app for my Curado 301, is swimbaits, usually heavier baits 3 oz and up. Great reel, especially when tuned properly.

Shimano Crucial swimbait rod opinions
No need for a XH for 6" swimbaits, a H will do just fine. The Okuma guide select is a great deal for the $$$, I had a 7'11" FH that I thew 6 to 8" baits on. I sold it to get a Dobyns 806.. 8-)

Best 8lb test for shaky head fishing on baitcaster???
After using Invisx, and abrasx, I found them to be very weak in the resistant to breaking category, lost 3 very nice fish due to 6lb invisx, and 10 & 12 lb abrasx breaking. I went back to 8lb Yozuri ultrasoft, and haven't had any problems with abrasion resistance.

Managing rod length...
6'1" here, I tried using my 7' rod the other day to flip/pitch into some reeds. The pitching part went o.k., the flipping part kinda sucked, as I'm use to using my 7'6" or my 8 footer. The distance I wanted would have been so easy with the longer rod. I'd say with regards to which size, use what suits you..

Which of these 3 ~$80 casting rods would you buy and why?
DING DING DING DING!!! You really can't go wrong with a Shimano rod, whether it is the Compre or a Clarus. I own a number of the Clarus rods (5 or 6) and I can honestly say that I enjoy fishing these rods as much as some of my Powell's or even my Cumara's. As for your length, I know from personal experience that Clarus makes a 7' MH w/ an extra fast tip. This rod is AMAZING action, and it is extremely versitle-- it can be used for nearly anything, from cranking bigger cranks to flipping jigs or worms. And with the $10 off through TW, you cant go wrong! 8-) Oh ya, did I mention Shimano's warranty? Bar none, one of the best and easiest companies to swap out broken rods with. IMO X 2...

Seaguar Lines?
I've tried the Invisx in 6lb test, and the Abrasx in 10 & 12 lb test. Very poor abrasion resistance in all, I trashed all 3 and went back to Yozuri ultrasoft.

Rod Length vs. Your height?
6'1", all of my rods are at least 7', I do have a 6'6" mf spinning rod that I have only as a stand by. I prefer a 7'6" flippin stick, I have used my light swimbait rig which is 8' for heavy flippin, and liked it allot.. 8-)

GoPro
I used mine for fishing on my float tube. They work great....get the HD model, and a high capacity SD card.. 8-)
