  1. In many cases, I would agree with this..don't skimp on line..
  2. I found that a good weedless bait like the Missionfish from 3:16 works real well. Several sizes, and colors to choose from.
  3. I wouldn't think so..I've thrown 3/4oz baits on my MH...try it, that's the only way you'll know.
  4. I gave up on fluro, to many fish broke off. I'll stick to my tried and true Yozuri Ultrasoft copoly.. 8-)
  5. The bait is listed at 5/8oz...I don't see that you'll have any problems throwing that with your rig..
  6. I have both..I'll never buy another bps frog, so Spro hands down.. 8-)
  7. Get all of my Yozuri, and most other gear from Long Fin..great guys to deal with.. 8-)
  8. Hey Red..it's spelled Glenn... Merry Christmas, and a very Happy New year to all of ya's.

  11. I have had some quality control issues with the 6in huds. They don't swim straight. I don't know if they have fixed the problem but at half the price it seemed like half of them swam straight. They did however replace the baits that were bad. I have only had the issue with the 6in weedless. I haven't been throwing my 6" weedless hudd's for the same reason. However, the 3:16 Mission fish has been a pretty good bait as of late..
  12. Ultrasoft is all I use, unless you need it in a test higher than 20lb..The regular hybrid has more memory than the ultrasoft. So yep, you can use it on any baitcasting reel too.
  13. Depends on the conditions, time of year ect..but I've thrown everything from 6" hudds to 9" lunker punkers. I'd say I most often throw baits in the 4oz range, i.e. 6 and 8" hudds, Mattlures hard baits, and 3:16 freestyles in 6 and 8".
  14. I have the Okuma 711H, good rod for the money, But, I wouldn't consider it a medium priced swimbait rod at 120.00, as some rods will be in the 350.00 range. If this is your first SB rod, it would be a decent choice. It will not handle 6oz baits all that well, 4.5oz seems to be about the max for it, as it starts gettin a tad whippy with that weight of a bait. Anyway, I opted for thee Dobyns 806 Mag. Runs about 270.00.
  15. Fishing any topwater around here is kinda tough. With all the pressure, and shallow water, ect. Only had the punker for less than a year, and had it custom painted in a bluegill pattern. And yep, I target bass, but the big ole stripers seem to like it to..lol Anyway, I've only caught 1 bass, and had a few blow ups on the bait. I will continue to throw it and hopefully get one of the big girls landed. Good luck with yours.
  16. We just upgraded from a crt t.v. We looked at all brands in the 50" size, except for the LED's, to spendy for us..We wanted to stay under 800.00 we wound up really liking the Samsung plasma 50". My Son has had a Samsung 42" LCD for a couple of years, and never had any problems with it. We liked the quality of the picture compared to others in that price range, we got it for just a tad over 700.00 OTD..I'd buy another in the future.
  17. I use the Chronarch for my froggin..works just dandy..
  18. You asked about a rod for your topwater baits, i.e. lunker punker. I only have the 9" wood punkers, and I use a Dobyns 806 Mag for baits in that weight range, I also use a Curado 301E with 20 lb. YoZuri ultrasoft line. IMHO, braid isn't the greatest for punkers, at least to walk the dog with them, a line with a bit of stretch works a tad better for me. If your gonna use the 6" punkers, then a a good flippin /jig rod would work.
  19. Hmm, I tend to think not, But...at a certain lake we fish, where the water is pretty clear, the only way we were able to catch fish, was with a 4.5" worm on a DS, and with a 4lb fluro leader, anything else, and they wouldn't touch it...go figure. I tend not to use a leader in most situations.
  20. Just a fyi re: uncooked bones, and or food for your pup..make sure they have been frozen prior to feeding them to your dog. Kills all the yuky things on it. Also, keep an eye on the bones once they start getting smaller. IMHO rawhide stuff is worthless, get chewed up quick, and is dangerous. Raw bones are cheaper, and much better for your pup.
  21. Just a guess, I think you may have gotten a bad spool, or there's a nick in a guide you may have missed..? Mine line from 2 spools looks nothing like that.
  22. Every site is slow for me..we just moved and have at&t...slowest dsl I've ever experienced.. >
  23. Gear ratio isn't important, technique is..
