  1. Being right handed, I cast with my right, and wind with my left. Why change hands.?
  2. Great, thanks. Think I'll give it a try.
  3. Nice.

If I had to name my best all around bass worm, it would be Roboworm in Morning Dawn.
  5. Castability, if that's a word..lol Also are you using straight braid, or do you have a leader to be more stealthy..? Thanks for the reply.
  6. Yes, the smackdown is what I was asking about. Thanks for the reply.
  7. Any of you guys used this line..? I always used Diawa Samurai in the past, but this line looks interesting. Pro and or Cons..
  8. Just to clear up the " overloading" issue..The cast I made was about 40' If that, just an easy toss.
  9. This is what I was looking for. My post was not about how or why my rod broke, but the number of rods in reviews on TW that broke. So it's the material that may cause the breakage..As for how I care for my rods, they Never get abused, nor stored with the tip bent, ect And apparently mine wasn't the only one that broke. Anyway, thanks DVT for answering my question.
  10. I'm well aware of the uses of different-rated rods. In the past, I've thrown heavier baits than what the rod was rated for, but in this case the rod was rated for up to 1/2 oz. And as I said in 40 + years of fishing, never broke a rod. Just seems that I'm reading about far to many rods that have broken for no apparent reason than that they are defective.? It makes putting my faith in any given brand a bit difficult.
  11. So, getting back in the game, I looking at new rods, reels, ect. I get most of my gear from tackle wharehouse. In looking at the reviews for budget minded rods, i.e. 100.00 to 150.00 I see an awful lot of folks saying their new so and so rod either broke or the guides have come off. In fact I bought a well known spinning rod from them, and about 1 1/2 hrs of light fishing, i.e. mostly dropshot, I tied on 3/8 oz. jig, and the second cast 8" of the tip broke clean off. 5, 6 or more years ago, seldom did hear or read about new, or newer rods snapping. I know TW will refund, or exchange them, but it's pain when you only a 1 or 2 set ups, and ya wanna go fishing. In my 40 + years of fishing, which includes some salt, I've never broken a rod. So I have to ask, is this due to process they use nowadays or what..?
  12. Once my bait hits the water, my index finger is on the line, when the bait settles on the bottom, or where ever I want it, then I close the bail by hand. I stay in contact with the line on the fall, as a bass may grab it then..
  13. Talking about bouncing bass in the boat...I was watching a video of a local pro, no names mentioned here, but I was appalled when bounces this oh, I'd say 6 lb'r off the deck, and again on the floor by the seat. Surely that can't be good for most fish.? When I Have to handle a bass, as in my profile pic, my hands are Wet, and I make it as fast as I possibly can. The bass I'm holding was not out of water for more than 45 secs..yes we timed it. Right or wrong, I try to be as gentle with fish as I can..period.
  14. Tatsu has been the go to flouro for a loooong time..I've tried them all.
  15. My Son bought the 8:1 Assassin reel and he likes it, so I though for $50.00 why not.
  16. Looks like a couple of very old Fenwick rods. Sorry, that's all I got.
  17. I bought the 2500 fuego for my 7' med spinning rod. In the past I've owned all Shimano reels, from their middle of the road to the upper end reels. Imho the Diawa is every bit as smooth, cast's very well, drag is very good. I think for the $$ it's a great buy. Based on this reel, I'm sticking with Diawa.
  18. That is just awesome. I like the way Dad was hands off, and just guided the boy to land the fish. The kids big smile made my day..Thanks for sharing.
  19. Sam, how are ya doing buddy..? Thanks, good to be back.
  20. Haha, I totally forgot it. Keri was kind enough to help me out. Thanks for welcome back guys, appreciate it. On a side note, I'm having to relearn a bunch of stuff that I forgot, ya know how it goes with us old folks..lol
  21. Joined BR back in Feb of 2009. Had a few life things happen, and I stopped fishing. Well my Son invited me to go to DVL for some Bass fishing about a month ago, and that was all it took to get me hooked again. If there are any of you old timers still here, I'd love to hear from you. Tight Lines all.
  22. I let a bit of line out also, But I'm at the ready with my finger on the line just in case I get bit while the bait is on the fall..?
  23. Melonman, move back by the tree in your pic, I've caught some nice fish at that spot. Also try the north lake, but be prepared to lose a few lures. Senkos in watermelon, and pumpkin green should work well there, as does most of the Yamamoto baits.
  24. Skinner would be my first choice. Very nice up there.
