  1. Just placed an order from TW. Stocked up on jigs, worms, hooks, trailers, and swimbaits.
  2. On my spinning rig, which includes a 2500 reel, 8 lb mono is as heavy as I go, I also use 6 lb, both work good.
  3. ^^^^ this. I have a pair from like...............A looooooooooooooooong time ago..lol
  4. Have a look at this. Very good place to start. Welcome aboard. https://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_articles.html
  5. Did you keep a good amount of tension on the line when you first spooled it up..? I just spooled my Citica with 17 lb mono, and it sits flat and even..
  6. Always had a licence, been asked for it several times by the fish and game warden. In fact I became friends with 2 of them, as I have reported non lic and poachers..
  7. If your fishing the salt, you should be rinsing all of your gear off with clean fresh water. I've used lots of non salt gear for salt, and never had a problem. Good maintenance is the key.
  8. After much thought, I'm going to say my old Shimano 301 E Curado.
  9. 6 or 8 lb fluro depending on conditions..
  10. ALX ZOLO Casting Rod 7'1" Med Hvy Deputy.
  11. Also, bear in mind that some rods, including a swimbait rod that I owned was rated 2 to 6 oz. yet it was difficult to toss a 4 oz bait with it. That rod was about 9 yrs old, I'm sure today's rods are a bit more accurate. IMHO, better to be slightly over gunned that under gunned when it come to heavier baits.
  12. Maybe I missed something, but looking at the SLX rods at TW, I don't see any of their rods that handle over 1 1/2 oz..which would be way to light for the OP.
  13. If you have a big 5 sporting goods store near by, check the prices on discontinued shoes. My wife and I have got some very good deals there, usually under 60.00
  14. Looking at the pic's of the shoreline, it looks like it would have been easy to bend down and lip the bass, without having " flip it". If y'all have access to the water from shore, bend down and lip the fish, imho no need to swing and land on the ground. Please be respectful of the fish you catch..
  15. I think Tom has the solution, ask for a second anchor. I've done this more than a few times. That waay you don't have to lug anything around.
  16. I have both the Diawa Fuego, and the Tatul CT lefty's. Both are smooth as butter compared to my Shimano Citica while the bail is engaged, all cast very well.
  17. My statement was not a reflection on the other lines in the dobyn's line up. Personally I lost some faith in their budget lines, hence, I went for other brands. If I could afford them, I would grab most any rod in the upper line up. Hope that clears that up..
  18. I had a 7' m colt spinning rod..fished with light plastics, and about 1 1/2 hrs into our fishing, I tied on a 3/8 oz jig, proceeded to make a 40' cast and 8" of the tip broke off. I've owned Dobyn rods in the past and liked them. Now I have other brands. TW gave me a refund on the rod.
  19. Happy Dad's day to ya all..Have a great day!!!!
  20. Boy, would I love to find one for sale. Had Cumara's years ago..loved em.
  21. Trek, or composite material is Much heavier than say redwood, pine, or the like type wood. However the trek type boards will last much longer and are not susceptible to water rot, termites, ect. I built thousands of square foot decks in my day as a contractor, and sometimes we had to stock trek decking a good distance on big homes, I can say without a doubt, it is Much heavier..lol
  22. Where did the line break..knot or ???
  23. Nice haul for $30.00 ...Your wife is for sure a keeper..
