  1. Shimano reels always go on Shimano rods...
  2. Seriously, what is that you don't like about it..?
  3. Love my punker..at some point, your gonna want to get the big boy.. Just got mine back from being custom painted..
  4. Geez, if I can get decent hooksets on a 7'6" Clarus LXF with 4lb fluro..I think anyone could get the same results.. ;D
  5. Why not spring for an adjustable hitch..?
  6. Presentaion..Color..Bait..?
  7. Yup, but there was a ton of snot grass, so the Ika got covered with it.. > Tulies oth, it works fine..though I didn't get any fish on that day..
  8. I've thrown both baits on spinning, and baitcasters..For real light spinnerbaits, I'll use a spinning rig..3/8 oz and up, I prefer a BC..especailly for chatterbaits, I find it's much easier to control the speed, which controls the depth. With lots of weeds, the BC lets me just tick the tops of the weeds with more control. I normally use 1/2oz Chatterbaits.
  9. For me, I have the best luck, casting it to whatever cover there is, let it sit for about 10 secs..then give a couple Small twitches..it's a second or 2 after the twitch, that the bass grabs it..
  10. I like em..I have a 7'6" LF spinning rod. I've caught 5lb lmb with it, and the backbone on these rods are pretty nice..for the rating. It's now dedicated for light saltwater. Seems to work just fine there also.. For the $$$, and the warranty, they are tough to beat, imho.
  11. Like Spead said, really good. I've tossed mine against the rocks at dvl..w/o it so much as getting a scuff on it.. ;D BTW, Matt's customer service, is second to None..
  12. The problem with spray's is, they tend to come off once the bait hits the water..whereas Megastrike Sticks to the bait, for several cast's. I personally wouldn't waste my $$$ on a spray..I have a couple cans of bang that have sat in the garage for a loooonnnnnggg time.. ;D
  13. I just soak my baits in JJ's for the aloted time, then put them in ziplock freezer bags. The scent will remain on them for a long time.. Oh, and, not strong enough..I would agree...your nose is Broke.. ;D
  14. It's been my experience that from the day they treat the lake, and for about 2 maybe 3 days afterwards the bite pretty much goes dead. I was at Tri cities last Weds, and the water looked o.k...although no one was catching anything except a catfish..I also think bluestoneing affects bass differently, in different lakes. Alonda for example, it shuts em down pretty quick. But at Laguna, that doesn't seem to be the case. I was at Alondra yesterday, the bubbler's were off, and they just added the chemicals. They did this last week also..which I don't like. The weeds provide cover for all fish. I did see a 3' gar swiming around, looked like it was trying to chase down some baitfish, as there were huge swirls in the water..the bite was Dead.. >
  15. First, swimbaits work in waters from N.Y. to Cali..make no mistake about it.. Even in the high pressured city park lakes, I've managed to catch a few nice bass on the RT baits. The craw chunk on my jigs, their lizards work great weightless over the tops of weeds.. I also have the annie, the craw, and the toads. I have fished other toads, None of them comes close to creating the wake/bubbles the RT toad does, that dosen't mean that will work for you, but I certainly would give em a try. N.A...I would only suggest that maybe you look at your presentations on these baits, and also the manner in which you rig them..Not sayin it's your fault for not gettin fish, but just see if there's something that may not be clicking. Then again, we can always toss our swimbaits.. ;D
  16. Even if you somehow got the kdv inside the reel, it wouldn't cause it to malfunction. I would look at the guides, and any place that the line could, or does come in contact on the reel, you never know when a tiny picece of debris can get in there to mess things up..If that's not the case, maybe look at the line..is it old.?
  17. I would start with 4 on, as you get confident, go to 2 on..cast the lure, and if you are having trouble, go back to 4 on. Make sure the spool tension is set the way you need it.. I don't have a Curado, but I do have the Castaic, and Chronarch..Castaic has 2 brakes on, the Chronarch has 0 on..
  18. Also, try spraying your guides with kdv conditioner..
  19. Weightless Fat Ika, rigged upside down..in Blk w/blue flake.. Next would be DS a 4" roboworm in Hologram Shad.
  20. I've had the Samuri on now for about 3 months..I've used mainly for heavier swimbaits, but have used it for pitchen, and flippen jigs, and other lures. I have used it with a lure tied directly on, and have used leaders from 10 to 20lb test. I went with the 55lb green Samuri, I would have prefered yellow, but they were out. This braid is very limp right out of the box, needs No brake in, it does fade, as do most braids, the color doesn't make a mess..A bit spendy compared to other brands, but worth it imho. The only othere braid I tried was Spiderwire Ultra Cast..which was waxey, and the color made my thumb green..lol
  21. Mine...Diawa Samuri braid, in green. My braid has faded, never had the dye make a mess, nor did it stain my thumb..Only other braid I tried was Spiderwire Ultracast, and the dye on that line did make a mess..my thumb was as green as the Jolly Green Giant... ;D
  22. 9" Punker....
