  1. I voted for the other brand... 8-)
  2. Caught a bunch of fish on a spinner, with yozuri ultrasoft in 10 and 12 lb..No failures...
  3. I tried using a 4" big hammer ..doesn't seem to work so well..I'll just tir on another skirt..
  4. I have a 2 yr old extreme, brakes Must be on 9..spool tension, very little depending on the weight of the bait, and wind..Mine needs constant adjusting. Also, tolerances don't seem to be very good.. Rooster, I'd love to see you cast mine w/o using your thumb, you'd have the biggest backlash ever..lol
  5. To bad it doesn't come in a trout scent...
  6. FWIW..10lb AbrasX isn't all that around rocks..had a really nice lure break off today. It got stuck, I thought I could pop it out with a slight tug, and snap goes the line. I also use InvisX, I see No difference between the 2 re: sensitivity. And I use these lines for DS'n, and all plastics. if you need a line that's so sensitive, use some braid witha fluro leader..
  7. For general use, I prefer a 4 to 5' leader, but it depends on what I'm fishing. For a C Rig, I'd only use a max. of 2', for a splitshot 18" max. I tie my leader directly to my braid, I try to keep the line diameters close, i.e. if the braid is close to say 10 or 12 lb mono..I'll go with the 12lb..I try to go as heavy as I can get away with. For flippin, ot pitchin into semi heavy cover, I go sans the leader. Also if you tie your leader on correctly, the knot will pass easily through the guides, just easier to tie imho..
  8. Try losing a few 40.00 swimbaits.. I have the golden shiner..haven't thrown it much, so I haven't caught any fish..They do have nice action though..
  9. So basically I'm a dip. ;D ;D Good one Glenn.. ;D
  10. Never saw a need to burn braid. maybe it depends on the type of braid you have..???
  11. 5:20 sweetbeaver..
  12. On small baits, like jigs est..I use a palomar, for my bigger baits, i.e. 6 to 9" swimbaits..I use a improved uni knot. This is on 55lb braid. I do 6 twists on the uni knot.
  13. I have the Sedonna but not the Spirex. I do have the Sharah also, and while all the reels are fine..I would if possible spend the extra few bucks and get the Sharah, great reel in that price range.
  14. Re: baitcasters..Try making easy 3/4 sidearm casts, imho, you have more control that way, as opossed to overhead casts..at least in my case it use to be that way..If the reel is set properly, wher the lure falls to the floor as a slow pace, and the spool stops when the lure hits the floor, it's time to do some castin..make easy cast's, don't try to reach way out there, as you gain more control, via your thumb, and no overruns..loosen the brakes a tad.. Also you might loosen the spool tension..ultimately, it's your thumb that controls everything. Btw, if your backlashing at the begining, you need more brakes, if it's happening at ot toward the end of the cast, tighten the spool tension. Practice, practice, practice...well, you get the idea.. ;D Sham, don't worry about the baitcaster if your uncomfortable about it. Many a bass have been caught on spinning gear. There are guys here that use Only spinning gear. Yes, baitcasters do have some advantages, in certain cases, but for 90% of the fishing we do, you'll be fine with the spinning rig. There are other more importatnt things to concentrate on re: bass fishing..
  15. I dub thee Dwight..The Smallie King of BR.. Always a great report, along with some of the biggest smallies I've ever seen.. 8-)
  16. Welp, I ain't new, but...hammer 4 I'm a carpenter/contractor, hence the hammer, my b day is the 4th day of Aug. hence the 4...was gong to do, Hammer 4u, but that sounds corny..Also, that's my handle on most sites I visit..
  17. DO NOT COOK THEM, if your gonna feed them to your dog. As long as they were previously frozen, you dog/dogs can eat them RAW..which is much better for them anyway..Raw chicken can be fed with bones and all, once you cook them, the meat has little value, as far as nutrtion is concerned, also the bones need to be removed, because they become brittle. I fed my dog raw chicken and beef since he was 6 months old..It's very good for them..agin as long as it was previously frozen prior to thawing it, and giving it to your dog..
  18. Could you actually see the bass..?

Also, you might try, while retreiving, go as slow as possible, then give the rod a twitch, you can make that bait do a 180 degree turn, crank a couple times, then stop. This will trigger a solid strike most times, you can vary the twitches and pauses. No hook needed.
  20. Who are you again..????? ;D
  21. You could always get a slow sink 6" Huddleston..about 17.00 If you want a hardbait, the 6" BBZ Jr. in slowsink runs a bout 22.00..
  22. Tried the old vanish, once bitten, twice shy..I'll stick with Seaguar AbrasX..
  23. I agree to a point..Braid is best..fluro, I would use Seaguar AbrasX in 20lb..Seaguar has a smaller diameter than some lines, hence you can use a heavier line. Of course, it depends on the cover that your working. As for braid 50# min.
  24. Dropshotting is a staple for the high pressured city lakes here in so. cali..
