Casting Rod Choice Help for Beginners/New Fisher Friends
At 149.99 The Irod geneses III is tough to beat, so much so, that I bought 3 of them and about to buy another. They get rave reviews on TW, and a great warranty, alone with top notch customer service.

My weakness as a bass fisherman.
Mine is bringing Way too much tackle when I go shore fishing. I have a good sized backpack that is filled to capacity, which is way more than I need..lol

That one bait/rig that you don't use but everyone else does
Never used a ned rig.

When to use a bait casting set up versus spinning for a technique
Spinning is for very light baits, and light line, otherwise it's baitcasting.

Tatula 300 is here
When you do get your 300 Tatula, and have fished with it, how about doing a comparo vs your Shimano 300 E. I'd be Very interested in how they compare.

What's your favorite line of rods?
In the under 200.00 range, the Irod Genesis III are hard to beat.

To Blend In or to Stand Out?
^^^^ This. Be stealthy. Also when casting, try not to make a Big slash.

Best tournament budget spinning reel?
Agreed. The new ones are still very good, except there's no ar on them.

Budget Lures
Head over to wallyworld. They usually have a clearance table with baits that are fine and are marked way down. Also look at the plastic worms and spinnerbaits, ect. Are you by any chance fishing any of the city park lakes in your area ?

How long will a bass keep a jig in its mouth?
Hook sets are Free, I swing on anything that even feels, or looks like it might be a bite. You snooz, you loose.

Mini Rant about trucks with Bright Headlights.
Lately as I drive the local freeways, I've noticed that a fair number of trucks, i.e. pick m up's have these 100 watt led light bars usually mounted on the front bumper. In most cases the headlights are either turned off, or pointing up just enough to almost blind me. Tonight as I was coming home, some clown in a newer GMC had what appeared to be super bright fogs lights and a ..you guessed it, a 2 foot long light bar that was so bright I had to look down for a split second as the brightness would have blinded me for a second or 2. Now, I have HID's on my truck ( 2003 Duramax with a slight lift ) Mine are 55 watts, and I have them adjusted so I don't blind anyone, even in smaller cars if I'm behind them. This idea where people think having 100, 000 lumens is cool, well it's not, and is dangerous to boot. The CHP and local law enforcement doesn't seem to care. Might come down to where I need to wear sunglasses at night...Sheesh. Rant over.

Swim jig vs. chatterbait
The one that the bass will bite..?

Sit or stand ?
At almost 73 yrs. and with a bad back, I stand as much as I can, might sit on a pedestal seat for a short time, definitely stand when throwing heavy swimbaits.

Suggestions on buying a frog rod
Thanks, but not really interested in selling it. Rod is about 1 year old.

Suggestions on buying a frog rod
I think you'll be happy with the Tatula.

Cork vs foam rod handles
I use to have all cork grips, when I bought all new rods, it just so happens that they all have EVA split grips, which I like.

Suggestions on buying a frog rod
I have the 7'4" Tatula frog rod now, But if I sell it or it brakes somehow, I'll be getting the Irod. I own a few Irods, great value, same goes for the warranty and customer service. I'm surprised more members don't buy these rods.

Anyone ever been forced into a fishing hiatus?
I should add to my previous post, that during all the broken bones, ect. I use to roadrace motorcycles. Falling off at speed is no fun..lol

Some more stuff on slow rolling SBs
I do the same thing, having contact with the line is key, I do that with all baits except top water.

What color would you use of the spinner bait in murky water?
I've fished a lot of ponds and lakes with " murky " water, and have caught my fair share of bass on a spinnerbait, my goto color is always white, or sometimes a shad pattern that has a bunch of white in it.

Size vs numbers
Well said. And I will agree.

Chris & Jimmy Houston Need Our Support
I'll echo all the above. Jimmy is one of my all time favorite Pro anglers. Prayers sent out to the Houston family, especially to Chris... May the good Man above take care of her, and the medical staff so Chris can be well again.
