  1. Just for giggles, I've thrown a buzzbait on a 6'10", a 7' and my 7'4". I prefer the 7'4" for those baits.
  2. Been using Gitzit tubes for a long time..
  3. The shallow spools are normally used for tossing lighter baits.
  4. Tom, if you happen to have any older 4 to 8" worms that Don poured, I'd be very interested in those.
  5. I own 3 of the Tatula XT rods. I can say these rods fish, look and feel well above the price point, very light weight also.
  6. 1947 Chevy 4 door ..it was the fleetwood IIRC..Bought it for $ 25.00. Sorry no pic's.
  7. Nope..not a I.P fan..I'll take your word for it though.
  8. Nice..happy b day to him. Be cool if he caught his PB on the first outing with it..
  9. I think most of us have done something similar to that...
  10. Years ago, I was fishing a city park pond, the park had ducks, geese and the usual animals. Anyway, there's a Mom duck swimming with 4 little ducklings in tow. Out of now where there was a big swirl in the water, I just caught the very last of the little duck being pulled under water by a fairly good sized bass. Needless to say, Mom got her little ones out of the water. As I fished this pond pretty often, I seldom saw any baby ducks swimming after that. So yeah, bass will eat most anything that looks good to them.
  11. What size are the baitfish..? If they are on the small side, try the smallest fluke, and on 8 or 10 lb fluro.
  12. Yup, but there are good reviews also. I've been using 50 lb smackdown for about 6 months, works just dandy for me.

  14. No toothy critters here. I have my drag tight, but not locked down.
  15. Thinking about that still really ticks me off. The poor folks aboard that jet, and their families are always in my mind. Never forget 911.
  16. Used my Fuego reel a couple times froggin, it worked just fine with 50 lb braid. Casting distance was good, I have no complaints re: that reel.
  17. I have an SLX in a baitcater, not to impressed with it, compared to like priced Diawa Tatula XT rods. Give the XT spinning rods a look see, good stuff imho.
  18. If..your catching fish on a fairly regular basis, and not having any issues with breaking off, i.e. knot failure or if you have any heavy cover, then no, 8 lb is fine. OTH if you are having issues then you may want to get some stronger line.
  19. Only 107 here on Labor Day..whew...Too hot to fish, or do much of anything today. Hope y'all had a great day.
  20. Have a good and safe weekend y'all. Btw, so far it's only 102 here, 10 blocks from the ocean...
  21. My first thought would be to offer bigger baits, i.e. 8 to 12" worms t rigged, or a 1/2 oz jig with a sizable trailer. Most bigger bass are looking for an easy meal, vs having to chase one down. The smaller bass are much quicker than larger bass are and will usually grab a bait first. Big bass also hang out in the best spots, so look for places where they can easily ambush prey and cast your bigger bait into those spots. And fish them slow.
  22. Welcome aboard.. Either set up will, and can catch bass. Some folks have a preference when it comes to spinning and or baitcasting. I fished with spinning tackle for many years before venturing into baitcasters, and yes you can catch some good sized bass with a spinning outfit, so it would be up to You which to go with. Better yet get a spinning combo, and a decent baitcasting rig. As for so. Cali in the fall...Never fished Pyramid, I would think Casitas (sp) or Castaic would be good, lots of big bass came out of those 2 lakes. IIRC Pyramid is more known for the big strippers than big bass.
  23. A few folks complained about the uneven line lay. It's an easy fix, takes maybe 1 min. to do. Although haven't heard of any recent problems with the line lay thing.
