Curado 300 is here.
Looks good, congratz on the new reel. On a side note, I'd be really interested in how the new 300 stacks up against the old 300 E reels, if the new 300 is comparable, I might consider getting one.

Swimbait Prices
Forgot to add, you could toss some Spro swimbaits in there as well. Very reasonably priced.

Swimbait Prices
First off, I would recommend staying in the lower price range, If you have waters that hold larger bass, i.e. 8 lbs plus, then look into swimbaits. Don't get caught up in the large baits that look real, as they cost a on of money. Years ago, I bought swimbaits that cost up in the $ 200.00 range, they looked great, but didn't catch anymore, or bigger fish than some smaller baits, like the 6" Huddleston 68, which cost around $ 30.00. Also, the bigger/heavier baits require Heavy duty gear. I'd try the soft plastic swimbaits to start with, like the 6" Hudd, and maybe an S waver for a glide type bait, see what results you get and go from there. Also, these baits are no guarantee you will catch bigger bass, swimbaiting takes Dedication, can be hit or miss. Having the appropriate rod, reel and line is a must.

You ever eat a LMB that you catch?
Tried LMB back in the late 70's..Did not care for the taste. Only fresh water fish I eat is trout. Ocean fish, Red Snapper, and Halibut, and sometimes Tuna. All the Bass I catch go right back in the water.

If you could buy one high end rod and reel setup, what would it be for?
I'd get a custom made rod if money were no object. Reel would be a older 201E Shimano, only cuz they were built like a tank and performed really well. This would for jig fishing.

Feeling melincholy
There is n way I could even imagine what you felt and are feeling regarding the truly sad events that you and yours had to endure. I have had a 2 of those melancholy times, but not on your level. I think you know how I feel about you hanging in there. It's my hope someday, and soon, that you can pick up those rods and have a good day fishing, and get some resemblance of inter peace. You and your family are always in my thoughts.

Back winding spinning reels?
This is one reason why I don't buy Shimano spinning reels any longer. No anti reverse switch on them.

Favorite #14 lb. - #17 lb. Mono / Co-Poly Line (.36mm to .41mm)
Choosing from the lines listed, I've been using Sufix Elite in camo. Line is very manageable and the camo blends in really well with the stained water I fish. I have 10# up to 17#.

Saltwater Safe?
Around 2003 to 2009 I fished both the salt and fresh. Fished the salt at least 3 or 4 times a week. After fishing I rinsed my rod and reels off with a hose, but not a hard blast of water. The reels I used were baitacaster's Shimano 301E Curado, and 150 Chronarch, Spinning reels were Sharha, Sedona and a Shimano Stradic.. I did however have a full clean and lube done to them once a month, they worked great.

3/8oz or 1/4oz jigs for ponds?
Mostly 1/4 and 3/8 oz jigs. If it happens to be when the grass is fairly thick, I'll jump up to 1/2 oz, and if I'm tossing into the toolies, 3/4 oz.
