  1. When you electro-shock the water, fish float to the surface belly up and Chet and Angie, (both touring Pros) know that, so I doubt that he would have said such nonsense. It amazes me that with zero knowledge of reality so many would speak as if they had the inside track.
  2. NJBFG: I was displaced from Florida to NJ and spent 20 years up there. I lived in Franklin Lakes. RV was good, as I said, at night. I had better places to go, but it was nice to go there occasionally.
  3. I would think that your best help will come from NJ Bassanglers page: For bass this is best as a night fishery. I have done really well with in-line (big) spinner baits, and crank baits. On top the Jitter Bug was a good producer. However, that info is old. Perhaps it still works or perhaps you can find someone willing to talk with more current info. Electronics are important here.
  4. Easiest and neatest way to prep for a fish dinner: Transport yourself to the nearest super market or fish store. Even easier: head out to your favorite restaurant.
  5. Stated at the beginning of this thread: "The wraps on the boats used by professionals would seem to be very bright and, obviously, are not a natural part of the surroundings, yet, these anglers don't seem to have problems catching fish. Many bass boats are colored brightly." In addition their clothing is brightly colored, they use their trolling motors, and their electronics. They don't tiptoe around on their boats, they open and close lockers and livewells with a bang, and have other boats in close proximity trolling along shooting film of their activities. Gentlemen; find another excuse if your not catching fish, as this one is ridiculous. "lol youll are funny ..whats next does wearing boxers over breifs catch you more bass lol" Absolutely!!!
  6. June is prime time in your territory for those big ones Russ - catch a couple for me!
  7. Haven't you ever seen the male bass right after the spawn? Cigarette in the right fin, cocktail in the left, sitting back in their recliners.
  8. The rod, manufactured by Silstar, is a $40.00 Graphite. It should be good as an all around rod and should perform just fine for many different applications. Take the rod to a local and check the reel seat for fit with different reels. (already suggested) What do you consider "low budget"?
  9. The right tool for skipping is the spinning gear - why bother with the baitcaster?
  10. From someone that has done several: Me. Usually filming is complete in less than two days. Seldom does it go over that. Yes, there is editing. Most of what you see actually occured, just not in 22 minutes. The longest shoot I was involved in was with OLN - 5 full days, 22 hours of film shot, all for a 22 minute show. However that was a most unusual show and shoot. A good deal of what was shot was for other segments and other times.
  11. What I said in above post: And dats the twuth of it all. What I would like to know is what anyone feels the "Pros" are telling? The only thing they can tell you is the mechanical aspects of this sport. They are not about to tell you their innermost thoughts, for that would tell you how they do what they do, and how they think: that would be akin to giving away top government secrets. What the Pros have learned and truly believe you may never know. However, if you choose to follow that route, you will learn it, but more importantly you will learn to believe. It is that believing that the ones that rise to the top all have. It is the believing without falter that keeps them at the top. When that belief falters the slide down is quick and sure.
  12. Three broken ribs from a fall in the water while shooting a show with Bob Dillow.l Bob's question: did you get that on film? it would make a great blurb. I told him to stuff it.
  13. I think it's time for you to pick up on a new sport.
  14. Reels are actually cheap! It's the engraving of the logo on the reel that costs so much.
  15. Most often that is decided by the speed of the lure. Hard baits are multi-colored to present flash and flash depends highly on ambient light. Soft baits are for the most part uni-colored, however the presence of lack of ambient light may call for the lack or need for flash. The faster the bait the more the need for flash.
  16. "But Dudes y'all are over complicating some thing that aint that difficult by worrying about the exceptions. I talk to guys at work, listen to guys here and y'all are worrying about the what if's instead of the what is." And dats the twuth of it all.
  17. Fisheating Creek has some of the heaviest Tannic stained water in Florida. You can count the pepples on the bottom. That's clear. Okeechobee has some of the most turbid water in Florida. You can barely see your lure in the water. That's dark. Based on the "changing level of light" theory, one needs to fish with self changing lures. I don't know much, but I do know that dark lures in dark water, and light lures in clear water works quite well. Perhaps this is why I have such a successful guide business. I am a big believer in the "keep it simple" method of retrieving these green fish. The more difficult you get with thought process and practise, the more difficult the retrieving becomes. Let's see what door this opens. LMAO, not at you, but at where this can and probably will lead.
  18. Check out Lake Fork Tackle
  19. How to not survive in the watery realm of Bass: Take the time to decide if you like the color.
  20. Every bait has its place and time for use, however that said if you persist with this bait I think you will be very impressed with its production. The bait was designed to be used with a 1/16-3/16 oz. torpedo or screw in weight. Retrieval can be as varied as your imagination. Fast, slow, yo-yoed, or stop go are all good. The material is slightly tougher that the Senko so we have found that skin hooking gets the best hook-up ratio. Hook set is similar to that of a spinner bait. You don't need to send the Bass's lips into the next county. My first trip with this bait was very interesting. I went with Paul Crawford and I threw Senkos and he threw the Swim Senko. By days end the Senko won out by easily 10/1. However, with later experimentation that role was reversed in many situations. Another nice feature: being a bit tougher material, we average quite a few bass per bait. By the way: rigging with tail up or tail down also will make a difference depending on prevailing cover.
  21. All of this and the simple answer is: Dark colors in dark water and light colors in clear water will catch you all the bass you can handle with no assumption or guesswork involved. However, as soon as one of these green, (are they green?) monsters comes up and talks to me, I promise to let everyone know.
  22. There is a major difference between a Dexter EZ Lube and a Bearing Buddy. However, even with a Dexter system you should remove, clean, and repack each year. The first time you spin one and weld it to the axle you will know why. Standard equipment in my truck: spare hub for the trailer.
  23. You have that motor completely over propped. That motor should carry a Tempest 23P 48-825864 Plus. 2nd, you have a downsized motor for that hull - The 591 is placarded for a 200 HP? The hydrofoil will help.
  24. you can get the base at Wal-Mart.
  25. A ruler is an instrument used to measure items - you can't weigh with a ruler.
