  1. Mine is "don't twist your ankle on that divot walkin back to the cart...or when i do it " i'm just gonna go ahead and lay down in the grave i just dug please cover me up on your way by"..
  2. I prefer to watch good offense vs good offense rather than good defense vs good defense games. But the ones that are truly intriguing are the good offense vs good defense games such as Oregon vs LSU to start the year .
  3. I thought about going with a lighter rig also so i rigged the one i made with 1/8oz jig heads. Haven't had a chance to use it yet but i did read/see somewhere that a higher speed reel was better to keep the heavier baits moving faster and up more in the water column.
  4. I got 'em for ya...I'll shoot ya a PM
  5. I'm goin back there so I'll get em for ya if there still there
  6. Just noticed for all you Shimano guys that my local Academy had citca 200e for $49.99 and curado 50 for $99.99
  7. Boat for sure....its like going from walking to driving..
  8. Nothin was biting... So away in the nitro I flew.....
  9. Well here's my suggestion and set up for cranking Bps pro qualifier 6.4:1 $79.99 Berkeley bionix cranking rod $ 50.00 (at Wally word. Don't laugh this rod has a great action and power for cranking applications and is one of my favorite to throw it will launch lighter cranks with ease as well. I have NEVER lost a fish when cranking with this rod) Line: I use yo zuri #12. But 10 would probably serve you well also. BTW. The fish in my avatar was caught with this setup
  10. How much more beneficial do you think it is for these larger tournaments ? With two major competitions already signed up for this system do you think the big boys of bass fishing will soon follow?
  11. i would think it would be. I had a 45# trolling motor on my 17' nitro 750 and it did fine until it broke. Then i upgraded to a 54# and it does really well.
  12. IPhone all the way. Droid may have more free apps but IPhone has more apps period.. I love my IPhone like many have said simple , and reliable.
  13. Yep as bassjunkie said its all about cost and price point. .. they probably sell allot more product having a cheaper price tag on it.
  14. The guy i give props to is the marshal with Ike. He was front row and center for Ike's meltdown and just kept doin his part even with poles flying and Ike's temper running at full capacity. Ike's a emotional competitor, is just the way he is. If i was the marshal i would have probably jumped outta the boat after the reel or at least marked the spot to go back and get it later
  15. 7ft MH with 6.3:1 ratio reel for casting. 7ft M with 2500 reel for spinning
  16. I looked at craigslist this morning. There are none that are what i need. Just about all are whitewater kayaks. River fishing is not very big down here so im thinking my options for used may be limited. Any ideas on where i might could find some used ones at?
  17. Didn't really think about buying used thanks! Being new to kayaks what are some red flags to watch out for when looking at used kayaks?
  18. Aren't the Coosas expensive? Plus won't be standing much ,usually if we get out we pull our boat up on the rocks and stand or wade while we fish for the smallies in the rapids.
  19. For under $500. I will only be fishing river (congaree to be exact) no big water i have a boat for that . Our stretch has probably 3 sections that are open water with no rocks. The rest is very mild rapids. I will only be using it 10-12 times during the summer months so it won't get extenssive use unless the better half lets me out more often I was thinking of the old town vapor 10 angler. almost forgot to mention i'm a bigger guy 6'1 230. Any other suggestions?
  20. Gangley, I understand your side of things too no one wants to put on a fake smile and then return a gift and plus its just my opinion, so no need to be respectful when you disagree...lol...JK.......But to me this is where the research part of my post comes in. If the OP were to call some of her boyfriends fishin buddies or maybe boyfriends Dad (since his boat is parked there) then they could tell her more specific info on what fishing type of gifts to get. then there would be no need to return and the receiver of the gift would be joyfully surprised that there partner took such an interest. Lets say you wanted a particular lure. would it be more meaningful for your partner to get you a gift card and you go get it yourself or for them to do a little digging and buy that item for you?.. Sometimes the thought that goes into the gift is as valuable as the gift itself
  21. Ok i'm gonna go away from the popular gift card idea. Why? Because its impersonal. It doesn't take allot of thought to go by a gift card. Will he like it...probably..will it mean as much as a well thought out and researched gift...no. First let take the rods and reels..You can pretty much kick those out. People are very brand oriented and only he knows what kind he wants next. Without giving it away and asking whats next on his rod and reel list you'll probably get it wrong. There is an exception though. You could pay to have his reels professionally cleaned and maintained. Most anglers do clean there on stuff but few go to the extremes that a professional would. I would check with Delaware Valley Tackle on this forum if you want more info on this idea. Next lets kick out electronics( fish finder). Most are very expensive and unless you know exactly what he wants then its best to just stay away. Now to the good stuff Tackle. Soft baits like Senko's on are a good idea but $150.00 worth of 1 type may be overkill. I would suggest finding out more on what soft baits he like to through and mix it up a bit. Rage Tail products have many fans (including myself) and even if he hasn't tried them yet you won't break the budget getting a package or 2 of there products. Hard baits like crank baits and spinner baits. Crankbaits again some tend to be brand loyal. Find out what he likes such as Lucky craft, Strike king etc.. Once you have that knowledge you can move onto color and style. Being in CA i cant give you much knowledge on this since i'm on the oppoisite end of the country but there are many here that fish there and they can let you know what works. Probably something natural would be good. No flashy colors. Spinnerbaits and jigs are a good choice but again not all are created equal. Maybe talk to some of the guys here that make 'em. they can lead you in the right direction. Its great that you have taken an interest in something he likes. If you do some research and get him some good items he will appreciate it allot more than a gift card.
  22. You would be better with a right handed reel (same as the one in you original picture) reason being that the baitcaster is controlled ultimately by thumb pressure on the spool. You will be able to better feel the amount of pressure you exert on the spool with your dominant hand. I'm in the same boat as you because i am a lefty and i cannot tell you how beneficial it its to be able to control the spool rpms with my left hand and reel in the line with my right.
